Smackdown Recap 12.12.08

Smackdown Recap from Bridgeport, CT:

Smackdown opened with Triple H waiting in the ring for a match to begin. All of a sudden, Jeff Hardy rushed into the ring from behind and attacked HHH. The two wrestlers fought outside the ring until referees rushed in to separate them. Smackdown GM Vickie Guerrero and Chavo come to ringside to check on things.

R-Truth vs. MVP

Before the match, R-Truth enters through the crowd perfomring his "What's Up" to get the crowd hyped for the match. During the match, R-Truth was able to hit a sunset flip and then scored the winning pinfall on MVP.

After another disappointing loss, MVP got a mic and began to complain about his current losing streak. Mr. Kennedy came out to interrupt and make fun of MVP for the losing streak. MVP's mic was cut off, and Mr. Kennedy began to promote his upcoming DVD movie, Behind Enemy Line Colombia.

Winner: R-Truth wins via pinfall over MVP.

Backstage, The Brian Kendrick is hanging around The Bella Twins. Kendrick tried to be smooth and put his arm around the Bellas, but they rejected him. Suddenly, Carlito and Primo Colon show up causing Kendrick to back down. The two tag teams would meet in the next match on Smackdown.

* The Brian Kendrick w/Ezekiel Jackson b. Primo Colon w/Carlito
- Lots of back and forth action. Carlito and Ezekiel battle on the outside throughout the match. Primo gets the win with the small package followed by a rollup.

Hurricane Helms vs. Shelton Benjamin

Helms second match back was a top notch contest against the US champ, Shelton Benjamin, in a non-title bout. During the match, Shelton tried to work on Helms' neck to wear him down. After lots of back and forth action, Helms flew off the top rope for a high-cross body, but Shelton tried to reverse it. Shelton failed with his attempt and Helms was able to land on top of him for a pinfall.

Winner: Hurricane Helms wins via pinfall over Shelton Benjamin.

Edge hosted his in-ring show "The Cutting Edge" with special guest, the ECW champion, Matt Hardy. During the interview, Edge and Hardy argued over who was responsible for Jeff being found unconscious in a hotel room prior to the WWE title match at Survivor Series. Matt blamed Edge for the incident, while Edge claimed it was Triple H who was responsible. Vladimir Kozlov comes down to end the segment.

The Great Khali vs. Curt Hawkins & Zack Ryder
2 on 1 Handicap Match

The Great Khali displayed his dominance in a very quick handicap match. Khali used a vicious Khali chop on Ryder followed by a double-hand Choke bomb on Hawkins.

Winner: The Great Khali wins via pinfall over Curt Hawkins & Zack Ryder.

Backstage, Eve interviewed Triple H about his upcoming main event match against Jeff Hardy and Armageddon.

The Bella Twins vs. Natalya & Maryse

The Bella twins continued their winning ways on Smackdown. The winning pin was scored on Natalya to keep the twins undefeated so far.

Winner: The Bella Twins win via pinfall over Natalya & Maryse.

Triple H vs. Jeff Hardy

This match served to get the fans ready for the upcoming Triple Threat at Amrageddon. The match saw many near pinfalls by both men, but no clear winner. The Rated R-Superstar came out to interrupt the match, causing a disqualification as he speared both Hardy and Triple H down in the ring. Smackdown ended with Edge walking up the ramp displaying his WWE title belt.

Winner: Match ended in disqualification when Edge interfered.
