Smackdown Preview 12.12.08
Tonight's Smackdown will serve as a precursor to Sunday's Armageddon Pay-Per-View, where the WWE title will be contested in a Triple Threat match. Edge is the current champion after returning at Survivor Series to capture the belt, in sneaky fashion. Jeff Hardy and Triple H both have gripes about that, as HHH was the current champ, and Hardy was scheduled to be in the last Pay-Per-View's Triple Threat. Now both men head into Armageddon looking to take the belt. Meanwhile Edge and Vickie are coming off another victory as 2008 Couple of the Year. What will the destructive duo have in store for Triple H and Jeff Hardy prior to Armageddon? Will one competitor stand taller than the rest?
A superstar who continues to be on a serious losing streak is Montell Vontavius Porter. On the special 3 hour edition of Raw this past Monday, MVP fought against impersonator Charlie Haas as "MVC". MVC was able to steal the win, embarassing MVP right after he had insulted the Phillies and their hometown fans. On Smackdown last week, MVP lost to Kung Fu Naki. As his losses continue to pile up, MVP's money starts to dwindle in terms of contract bonuses. Who will MVP face on Smackdown? Will the superstar claim a much needed win on tonight's show to end the streak?
During last week's Smackdown, Matt Hardy was able to keep Vladimir Kozlov from winning the Beat the Clock challenge, prompting Kozlov to call Hardy a "coward". Vladimir Kozlov made it clear on this past week's ECW show that he wants Matt Hardy, and he intends to destroy Hardy. Kozlov issued a challenge by beating down ECW original, Tommy Dreamer in the ring. Hardy accepted the challenge to set up a non-title match at the Armageddon PPV. Will the mauler from Moscow have more to say on tonight's show? Or will he let his actions speak louder than words?
