Matt Hardy Re-Joins Smackdown

According to ECW General Manager Theodore Long, his superstar Matt Hardy officially asked to be released from the ECW roster, so he could sign on with Smackdown. Teddy said he obliged and strangely wished Matt luck. Smackdown serves as familiar territory for Hardy, who reigned as its United States Champion for quite some time, and was 1/2 of the tag champs along with MVP. The feud now will be all in the family, with a Hardy versus Hardy match brewing. It may start at No Way Out and will definitely be a main attraction for Wrestlemania 25. WWE may decide to have both men in the WWE TItle Elimination Chamber, because there will be more of a payoff if they go head to head in a one-on-one match at the Superbowl of Wrestling.

The motives for Matt Hardy's surprise chair shot to his own flesh and blood seem pure and simple jealousy. Jeff achieved the WWE Title, a greater belt than the ECW's which Matt held. Jeff also had Matt's assistance in winning that coveted prize, giving Matt reason to say he is always helping Jeff get the big victory. With the spotlight shifted from ECW champ Matt Hardy to his brother Jeff's huge WWE title win, Matt chose to shut that light off at Royal Rumble. Having Matt remain on ECW would have made less sense. He served his purpose of fighting with the best of the roster and winning, with the exception of Jack Swagger. ECW on the other hand may want to consider adding a star or two as competition for Swagger. This past Tuesday's show was definitely an interesting one, but it revealed that Swagger is a big time star in need of a fresh feud.
