2009 No Way Out Matches
At this year's No Way Out Pay-Per-View on February 15th, 2009, both the WWE and World Heavyweight Titles will be defended within the large steel structure known as the Elimination Chamber. Within the structure will be a total of 6 wrestlers, 2 who start, and 4 who are sealed into cells within. In timed intervals, new men will be released from their cells and added to the match. Eliminations occur when a wrestler is pinned or submits. This continues until just one wrestler remains, and they become the new champion. In that regard, someone can win it all by pinning a wrestler besides the current champ. With members from Raw and Smackdown in these two matches it's sure to make for one interesting Pay-Per-View!
Raw Elimination Chamber
The Raw Elimination Chamber will see John Cena defending the World Heavyweight Championship against 5 other Raw wrestlers. Cena's competitors will include: Kofi Kingston, Chris Jericho, Rey Mysterio, Mike Knox, and Kane. In weeks past, Mike Knox and Rey Mysterio have had their share of run-ins, but now they will potentially be battling it out inside the cage, with no real escape available. Kane originally lost his qualifying match to Kofi Kingston in what was considered a huge upset on Raw. Meanwhile, Chris Jericho managed to defeat CM Punk to get himself into the match. In a recent Raw non-title match, Cena was able to defeat Jericho using the STF submission hold, which will be one way to win in the Chamber. Jericho and Rey Mysterio are both former World Heavyweight Champs, but will they be able to regain that title? Will John Cena have enough fight in him to successfully defend the title and bring it to Wrestlemania 25 or will a new superstar grab the title at No Way Out?
Smackdown Elimination Chamber
Smackdown's version of the Elimination Chamber will feature 6 Smackdown members inside the grueling steel structure, competing for the WWE Title. Currently, the Rated-R Superstar, Edge, wears the belt. He'll be facing at least 3 former champions with Big Show, Triple H and The Undertaker all qualified for the match. As of February, two spots remain for the Chamber, with Jeff and Matt Hardy seeming like potential competitors. The two brothers have their recent differences as well after Matt cost Jeff his WWE Title at the Royal Rumble. If these two men enter the structure, will they be able to focus their attention on winning the match, or will they instead be more focused on beating each other up? Will Edge be able to escape the Chamber still WWE Champion, or will one of the former champs have his arm raised in victory?
Shawn Michaels vs. JBL
Shawn Michaels found himself making the tough decision to accept JBL's offer for hire a few months ago due to Michaels' financial struggles. JBL had one goal in mind when hiring Michaels and that was for HBK to hel JBL win the World Heavyweight Title and bring it to Wrestlemania 25. Michaels did his best to ensure JBL would win the title, including laying down for an easy pin during a Fatal Fourway match on Raw and placing a knocked out JBL over John Cena at the Royal Rumble for a pin. The latter attempt backfired when Michaels headed backstage and Cena escaped the pin, then won the match. Things got even more intense after last week when Michaels took on Cena, with JBL's opportunity to be in the Elimination Chamber match on the line. Michaels seemed to have Cena beat, but as he went to the apron to climb the corner for a move, JBL took exception to Michaels' decision. With JBL causing a commotion on the apron, Cena was back up and able to hit JBL, causing him to crash into Michaels. The interference allowed Cena to defeat Michaels taking away JBL's Elimination Chamber and title hopes.
A week later on Raw, JBL held an Employee Appraisal and basically told Michaels he felt he wasn't holding up his end of things as the employee. Michaels told JBL all the mistakes were JBL's fault and it was obvious Michaels felt rage towards his employer. With that, JBL told Michaels he proposed they square off at No Way Out. On the line, all of Michaels' earnings as JBL's employee should HBK win. If JBL wins, he officially owns the Shawn Michaels' name and Michaels is his permanent employee. Who will get the best of the deal in this match, employer or employee?
Shane McMahon vs. Randy Orton
Randy Orton delivered one of his most vicious punt kicks ever when he snapped in the ring and took out WWE Chairman Vince McMahon. The move came just as Mr. McMahon was trying to fire Orton, after Orton had gone off on his daughter insulting her and her Raw GM skills. Later next week, Orton along with his lawyers and therapist issued a public apology which Orton read from a paper, claiming he had IED - Intermittent Explosive Disorder. Orton blamed his actions on the disorder saying he goes into violent rages when provoked. Orton then threatened to sue WWE and Stephanie McMahon should she fire him. He took it a step further threatening an injunction to prevent Wrestlemania 25 from even happening. As Orton screamed at Stephanie to fire him so he could cancel Wrestlemania, Raw roster members lined up on the ramp. Stephanie told Orton she had something more in store than a firing, and her brother Shane emerged from backstage.
A vengeance-seeking Shane came to the ring to dismantle Orton, despite Legacy's attempts to hold him off. On Raw one week later, Orton let the world know that he instructed Legacy not to fight back due to them being outnumbered by Raw wrestlers. From there, Shane McMahon issued a challenge for a No Way Out No Holds Barred match in which he has vowed to make sure Orton doesn't make it to Wrestlemania 25. Despite Shane fighting off Legacy at one point with a Kendo stick on Raw, the stable was able to later gang up on him, knocking both Shane and Stephanie down. Orton went for yet another punt kick, this time on Stephanie, with Shane leaping into his path for the save. Now two forms of ring rage will collide at No Way Out, but which will prevail - Orton's explosive rage due to his disorder or Shane's rage resulting from what Orton did to his father?
Finlay vs. Jack Swagger
Just a few weeks ago, the career of Jack Swagger was scorching hot. The newest ECW star was on the rise with no losses within the ECW, and eventually collided with ECW champ Matt Hardy. On ECW on Sci-Fi, Swagger was able to use his in-ring prowess to combat Matt Hardy all the way, and eventually used a face-first slam of Hardy into the corner steel turnbuckle to win it. Swagger continued his undefeated streak as cocky, new ECW champ when he defended the title against Hardy at the 2009 Royal Rumble. After the event, Hardy left for Smackdown to cotnend with his brother Jeff. On ECW, Swagger planned a grand championship celebration, however the party was spoiled when someone stole his ECW title belt. Swagger demanded that GM Teddy Long and assistant Tiffany help him find it, and eventually Finlay came out to clear things up in the ring. It was Hornswoggle who had taken the title, and Finlay asked his son to return the belt. Swagger angrily pushed Hornswoggle to the mat, prompting Finlay to respond with a punch of his own to knock down Swagger.
The two collided in a non-title match on the 2/3/09 episode of ECW which saw Swagger take Finlay's shilaleigh and toss it way up the ramp, seemingly out of play. Hornswoggle got sweet revenge when he snuck out from under the ring with a bigger shilaleigh and used it to strike Swagger in the leg. A Celtic Cross later and Finlay aschived what no other superstar had yet to do: defeat Jack Swagger. Now with Finlay's huge victory, he's now earned himself a title match at No Way Out. Will Finlay have what it takes for a repeat performance, or will the cocky, brash Jack Swagger continue his title reign?

i thought the JBL vs HBK match would take place at wrestlemania.
CT - I was surprised as well..Makes me wonder what they will have HBK doing at Wrestlemania 25, or if the feud will carry on until then?
