Raw Preview 02.02.09
Last week's Raw saw Randy Orton arrive to the ring along with Legacy's Cody Rhodes and Ted Dibiase, as well as 2 lawyers and 1 therapist. Orton delivered a pre-written apology to the McMahon family as well as the WWE Universe, citing he snapped the week prior due to having IED (Intermittent Explosive Disorder). Neither the fans nor Stephanie McMahon were believing the apology in which Orton said Raw's GM, Stephanie, caused his violent outburst, resulting in a Punt Kick to Mr. McMahon's head. Orton threatened a law suit against the entire WWE company should Stephanie fire him, and a second lawsuit if his headline opportunity for Wrestlemania 25 was disregarded. Orton, the winner of the 2009 Rumble, did his best to incite Stephanie into firing him as fellow Raw roster members stood on the ramp. Instead of a firing, Stephanie decided on a better way of handling things; have her brother Shane show up to dismantle Orton. Shane attacked Orton in the ring despite Legacy's attempts to break things up, and the fight eventually spilled outside the ring and up the ramp. Raw ended with Shane still looking for more retribution, but with Orton able to escape. What will go down between Orton and Shane on tonight's Raw? Will there be more of a fight, or will it be carried over to the No Way Out PPV?
While Orton's scheduled to headline Wrestlemania 25, most likely challenging the current World Heavyweight Title holder, other members from the Raw roster are trying to qualify for a title shot at No Way Out. It was announced that there will be two Elimination Chamber matches at the Pay-Per-View, with one for each brand and its respective major title. On Raw, John Cena will be defending his World Heavyweight Title in the chamber. Last week's show produced 3 of his 5 opponents with Kofi Kingston, Rey Mysterio and Chris Jericho each able to qualify. Kingston pulled off the upset victory with a quick pinfall win over Kane. Jericho managed to defeat current Intercontinental Title holder, CM Punk. Which superstars will be in qualifying matches tonight and who will comprise the final 2 Chamber opponents?
One individual attempting to qualify for the Chamber last week as JBL. Unfortunately for him, he messed up his own chances by having employee Shawn Michaels compete against John Cena. The stipulation was if Michaels won the match, JBL would be a part of the Chamber at No Way Out. JBL began irate with his employee at one point in the match, and Bradshaw's involvement on the apron allowed Cena to hit him, causing a chain reaction which made Shawn Michaels fall to the mat. Cena was able to score the pinfall victory, seemingly preventing JBL's entry to the Chamber match. Will JBL be given a second chance to qualify? What will Shawn Michaels' response be to JBL following last week's match mishap?
