Raw's Road Rage to Wrestlemania

Monday Night Raw was supercharged and volatile as it prepared the WWE Universe for Wrestlemania 25 which is now just 5 days away. Barring a minor audio glitch with Shawn Michaels' brief promo in a casket, the rest of the show ignited the feuds and various matchups leading to Sunday's big Pay-Per-View.

In many cases, some of the results of matches may be predictors of Wrestlemania 25 winners. In the past, there's been a theory that when a wrestler beats his opponent or "gains the edge" on them at a TV show, they will then lose on the Pay-Per-View. One example of this may be Rey Mysterio defeating JBL. It gets the fans believing Rey will win the Intercontinental Title, but JBL has claimed he's going to make history at the event. Some have stated they believe JBL will successfully defend the title, and then promptly retire as Intercontinental Champion. That would definitely make things interesting as it could either vacate the title or make it no longer one contested in the WWE.

You had to laugh when Lillian announced "18 Divas Tag match" because it seems each week they add one more diva to make the biggest divas tag match yet. Those 18 divas will make up 25 of the divas in the Miss Wrestlemania Battle Royal. Again, the outcome of this match said a lot, as Tiffany won the match, but I don't see her becoming Miss Wrestlemania. Then again maybe a big push is in store. It wouldn't be surprising to see the name Jerry Lawler and Michael Cole tossed around, Mae Young, become the winner of the big battle royal somehow. Most likely one of those 7 former divas will get the victory to become "Miss Wrestlemania", so they are the WWE's best kept Wrestlemania secrets right now.

Jericho versus Lawler produced another result worth noting; Jericho made Lawler tap out and went back to humiliate him. Most likely this is a precursor to Jericho getting his just dessert from the 3 WWE legends. Jericho couldn't really beat Lawler to a bloody pulp to make a point, because that would leave Michael Cole as our only source of match commentary for the rest of the night.

The same could be said for Big Show's easy victory over John Cena and then Edge's attack on Cena. In the weeks this feud has lasted, Cena really hasn't seemed to have any sort of edge against his opponents, so with the deck stacked against him it's looking like he's poised for the big title win at Wrestlemania 25. If nothing else it's the consolation prize for the unfortunately bad reviews of his movie "12 Rounds".

Shawn Michaels gained the upperhand again on Undertaker with some more mind games in the ring. This time Michaels dressed in all black to hold a special funeral ceremony for the Undertaker's undefeated streak. It all culminated with the lights going out, and if you listened close you heard what appeared to be the casket lid close shut. When the lights returned, Taker was in the ring but Michaels was nowhere to be found. The bit ended with Undertaker destroying the set and then eventually checking the casket for Michaels. With Michaels still nowhere around, he snuck out from under the casket table's covering and waited a bit then Superkicked the Deadman down. Once again Michaels seems to have the edge, but Undertaker's streak is a powerful and legendary record.

We got yet another display of all the competitors in the Money in the Bank Ladder Match with an 8 man Over the Top Rope Battle Royal. Kane came out victorious then climbed the ladder to retrieve the briefcase. The fall by Christian outside the ring leaves you wondering as the cameras didn't cut back to them after Kane's win. Christian seemed to land a bit strange with his head/neck against the crowd barrier when Kane threw him on top of CM Punk. Let's hope Captain Charisma still participates in Sunday's match.

The returns of both Vince and Shane McMahon last night were pretty cool leading up to the big Randy Orton versus Triple H WWE Title match at WM25. This all came after Orton revealed the details abut his systematic plan of how he gained revenge on Triple H for betrayal years ago when Orton beat him for the title. It definitely put a nice touch on the whole storyline giving Orton a very cold and calculating, despicable villain like character. Seein Triple H, Vince and Shane walk purposefully down the ramp and then level the 4 security guards was great stuff, but really, couldn't Vince just say "Move... or You're Fired!" ?
