Media Coverage of WWE's NBA Spin
Once again WWE Chairman Vince McMahon and the WWE managed to play off controversy and whether it was done in good fun or good taste, childish or poorly scripted it's still managed to get various media sources talking about it.
The home newspaper Los Angeles Times published a handful of articles regarding the show including "Lakers get a victory in the WWE arena" and "WWE Lakers win 5-on-5 battle at Staples". The articles discuss the controversy from a fan's perspective and mention how real Lakers announcer Lawrence Tanner was used to introduce the WWE All-Stars for the 5-on-5 tag match which was the main event. The LA Times also discussed the opening segment in "McMahon, Kroenke go at it early".
Meanwhile over in the home of the controversy, Denver, there was also buzz. The Denver Post's article "From make-believe land" discusses Vince McMahon's fake takedown of a fake Nuggets' owner E. Stanley Kroenke in the ring.
Other media sources beyond the home of the Lakers or Nuggets weighed in on the All-Star Raw, including Inside Pulse's 10 Thoughts on Raw. The Sun's article discussed the childish nature of some of the show's antics in WWE Raw lacks the Nuggets. Newsday's WWE pro-wrestling bloggers also weighed in with their Thoughts on Raw, McMahon vs. Kroenke, Kennedy, while Sky Sports talks of how MVP seals "Lakers" win.
Despite Mr. McMahon's playground humor in the ring while belittling a fake representation of the Nuggets owner, you've gotta hand it to him for generating sports entertainment buzz time and time again.
