Raw Preview 07.13.09
Last week's episode of Raw featured guest host, The Million Dollar Man, WWE legend and father of current superstar, Ted Dibiase. While serving as the host, Million Dollar Man set up plenty of interesting matches including Cody Rhodes versus Mark Henry, as well as his son, Ted Dibiase against Legacy leader, Randy Orton. Henry defeated Rhodes via countout, and Orton was able to overcome Dibiase's attempts to upset the champ. Later on, Ted Dibiase, Jr. confronted and ultimately slapped his father for setting him up to fail against Orton. Things seemed smoothed over amongst Legacy, but not between father and son. We've now seen two different guest hosts on Raw in the past two weeks, and tonight's will really be different. Actor and co-creator of Robot Chicken, Seth Green, steps into the role as host of Raw. Green, who also starred in the Austin Powers movies, is sure to have some interesting things in store for the Raw roster...
Last week also saw the Finals of the Night of Champions Tournament between Triple H and John Cena. Cena and HHH pulled out all the stops in a Pay-Per-View quality match, with the winner qualifying to face Randy Orton at Night of Champions for the WWE Title. Fans backed both wrestlers, but ultimately only one could win, or not. In a plan orchestrated by Randy Orton, Legacy rushed into the ring and attacked HHH and Cena before they could resolve their match. Since the match ended in a double disqualification, Orton announced that neither man won, so nobody would face him at the Pay-Per-View. Million Dollar Man said his belief was neither man lost, and he set up a Triple Threat match for the WWE Title at Night of Champions. Orton was flabbergasted, while HHH and Cena started back and forth at each other as well as Orton. What will be in store for all three wrestlers as they head towards Night of Champions? Will Mark Henry try to claim a spot in the title match as well?
The 15 Superstar trade set up by Donald Trump for Raw, Smackdown and ECW brought some exciting talent to Raw. WWE Divas Alicia Fox and Gail Kim have joined the show, as have ECW stars, Evan Bourne, Mark Henry and Jack Swagger. Henry and Bourne have both competed in matches, while Swagger has yet to wrestle. On last week's show, Swagger was a guest on MVP's VIP Lounge. Swagger proceeded to insult the host, calling him out for spending time in prison, while MVP responded by saying he's always ready to fight. Swagger once again backed down and left the ring, leaving questions as to his wrestling ability. Will Swagger finally compete on tonight's show? Will MVP be able to get a match against the newcomer?
