Wrestling Poll: Best Raw Host?

For this latest WWE wrestling poll, the topic is the guest host celebrities who have taken over Raw each for one night only. The celebs have included a rap star, a reverend, football player, former game show host, a longtime rock band, NBA & NFL players and various actors. The guest hosting should continue through 2009, as it was first started by Donald Trump several months ago when he bought Monday Night Raw for a night. Trump instituted the policy that each week a different celebrity would step in to serve as guest host since Raw had no General Manager. Trump made this decision right before selling the WWE Raw show back to Vince McMahon for a boatload of money.

That begs the question of which host has turned in the best performance so far on the show. Each guest host in the poll has put a unique spin on Raw with their own agenda, causes, promotions and brand of sports entertainment. Some have even stepped into the ring to grapple with the wrestlers. Vote below for the WWE Raw guest host you think has been best so far....

Who has been the best WWE Raw guest host so far?
Al Sharpton
Ben Roethlisberger
Bob Barker
Cedric the Entertainer
Freddie Prinze Jr.
Jeremy Piven
Nancy O'Dell
Shaquille O'Neal
Seth Green
Snoop Dogg
ZZ Top

Raw Revelations: The Snoop Dogg Show

Another true WWE fan, Snoop Dogg, was in the house as the latest guest host of Monday Night Raw. The well known rapper, reality TV star and celebrity made it a fun, comical show. He arrived out in a pink cadillac with The Bella Twins and Eve, who all danced their way to the ring to his new song "Gangsta Luv". At times you had to realize that John Morrison was right with what he said on The Dirt Sheet on Smackdown that Raw is a lot like Saturday Night Live these days. It featured skits which mocked Snoop's love of blazin' up, by cutting to a "technical difficulties" picture on the screen with elevator music, and then showing smoke in the air. Of course the smoke was coming from Snoop's favorite scented candles. Snoop also spent the majority of his night hanging with the WWE Divas, The Bellas, Eve Torres, and then getting into some action in the ring. Snoop had a clothesline and sort of a spear takedown on Chavo Guerrero, followed by more dancing with Hornswoggle & the divas. He claimed the show would be all business, and he made sure to arrange some matches which had relevance to Bragging Rights as well.

Case in point, and the match that may have surprised many people was John Cena losing in a classic Raw match to Triple H. They kept billing it as what may have been Cena's last appearance on Raw, but you have to figure no matter who wins on Sunday to become WWE Champion, Triple H is next in line as the challenger. It's hard to believe they will take Cena off Raw, unless of course he has a new movie role he has to get into.

Also on Raw, Team Raw had a test match against 5 other Raw superstars. The stipulation HHH attached was if any member of Team Raw was pinned, the guy who pinned him takes his spot on the Team. I was hoping personally that MVP would make the pin on Cody Rhodes to make Team Raw a little more face friendly. Unfortunately, it was not to be, and Jack Swagger stole Cody Rhodes' pinfall to win it. Rhodes showed dissension earlier as did other team members. They all brawled after their win, with several guys getting tossed out, or flattened by Big Show. There was a funny line earlier when Kofi Kingston started speaking with a non-accent, and HHH said "wait a minute, aren't you supposed to be Jamaican?" However, it seemed the crowd wasn't too into the jokes. They also got on HHH about a joke directed towards overweight people in relationships, which he made about Vickie Guerrero.

Other highlights of the show saw Melina successfully defend the Divas Championship against Jillian Hall in her rematch. For some reason Chavo was at ringside to coach Jillian, but when he got involved, a mini-gangsta version of Hornswoggle emerged to get Chavo. That's what lead up to Snoop's appearance to save the day, and his lil' homie Hornswoggle.

A nice surprise moment saw Snoop book The Miz to face WWE veteran and former Rockers member, Marty Jannetty. Miz had dissed Jannetty during The Dirt Sheet on Smackdown. Jannetty looked decent in the ring despite his age showing. It was obvious Miz wasn't going to take a loss leading into the PPV, which is why the HHH victory over Cena was so surprising. They could have ended it with time expiring or a double countout, but for some reason the boss' son-in-law picks up the win..Enough about that though.

The other interesting match pitted Randy Orton against Ted Dibiase. During that match, Orton ordered Dibiase not to lift a finger or he'd suffer for it. During the contest, Orton continually slapped around his Legacy member, and at one point as Dibiase came off the ropes he pushed back. It doesn't hurt Dibiase all that much since he's not part of Bragging Rights, although they could have started something with it. To date, Dibiase is now 0-2 against his mentor, and you have to figure that they are leading up to a Legacy break-up with Dibiase eventually able to defeat Orton in singles action. First, I'm sure Dibiase will be fighting Rhodes, then he'll go after The Viper.

Next week the show is hosted by two NASCAR racing stars, Kyle Busch and Joey Logano. Unfortunately, they don't have Bob "Spark Plug" Holly there to wrestle, but they might be able to have some interesting diva match tied in to racing. But will we also be forced to see Hornswoggle decked out in NASCAR apparel including a helmet so he can somehow embarass Chavo Guerrero?

Raw Recap 10.19.09

Raw Recap from Jacksonville, FL:

Announcer Justin Roberts introduced tonight's guest host, rap star Snoop Dogg. Snoop came out driving in a pink Cadillac. He got out with The Bella Twins & Eve Torres struttin down the ramp with him to his new song. They all danced in the ring for a bit before Snoop started to hype up the crowd. Snoop said on Sunday Raw will embarass the hell out of Smackdown. Snoop said since it might be Cena's last night, he's putting him against Triple H. Snoop said Orton will fight this week too, and he'll go against Ted Dibiase. Also, he's got Chris Jericho facing Shawn Michaels. Snoop then introduced D-Generation X to the crowd.

Shawn Michaels & Triple H made their way out carrying glow sticks. Snoop and the divas danced in the ring as DX made their way there. Snoop did a hip bump with HHH before leaving the ring with the three newest divas on Raw. HHH said whenever Snoop's in the house, white guys need to talk in the Snoop language badly. He told HBK to do the honors. HBK said "that was off the hizzle, fo shizzle", then HHH made a joke about Snoop needing an umbrella in case there's "drizzle".

From there, they began to talk about their upcoming Bragging Rights match against Team Smackdown. They dissected each member of the team, talking about how they each beat Jericho at Wrestlemania, and how HHH dated Kane's sister. They came to the pictures of Drew McIntyre and Eric Escobar, and HHH said he has no idea who they are. The audience agreed. Shawn Michaels mentioned McIntyre and said he could be a future world champ. Michaels told HHH that Escobar is sleeping with Vickie Guerrero, and HHH remarked he's gotta be tough to do that. They brought the rest of Team Raw to the ring to join them. Michaels introduced each guy to mixed reactions from the crowd. They introduced everyone but Rhodes, giving him a look then turning away. Rhodes grabbed Michaels and introduced himself into the mic, so HHH said "he was just about to say Team Raw, millions of dollars of talent, and Cody Rhodes". Rhodes said HHH & HBK are captains in name only, and if it were based on talent he'd be the captain.

Rhodes said he might just beat Smackdown on his own. Big Show got in his face to threaten him, saying if he lets the team down, Show will take them out himself. Show said that goes for every member of the team. Mark Henry got in Show's face asking if it's a threat. Henry said if is, they might have a problem. Swagger grabbed the mic to say he's the true talent of the team. Next Kofi intervened and told everyone to get on the same page or they'll all lose this Sunday. Kofi talked in a regular accent, so HHH asked "aren't you supposed to be Jamaican, what happened to your accent?" Michaels said to test out the rest of the team, DX booked a 5 on 5 tag match for them to get ready. Triple H said if any of them get pinned in the match they are the "weak link", and the person who pins them will take their place. HHH said the match starts now.

MVP, Evan Bourne, Primo, Chavo Guerrero & Chris Masters vs. Mark Henry, Big Show, Cody Rhodes, Kofi Kingston & Jack Swagger

Kofi jumped up on the corner to punch away on Chavo as DX was shown watching the match backstage on a monitor. Show tagged himself in, as did Mark Henry at the same time. While they argued, Cody Rhodes tagged Kofi to get into the match. MVP was soon in to take control of Rhodes with elbow shots. Rhodes was about to tag Henry then waved it off. MVP took control and tagged in Bourne. Bourne landed several high flying moves including a flying crossbody off the corner. Rhodes tried for a standing suplex, but Bourne jumped out and tagged in Primo. Primo began going on a rampage, flying around to take Rhodes down. Rhodes went for a clothesline but Primo ducked and Rhodes hit Bourne off the apron instead.

Bourne hit Cross Rhodes on Primo but before he could even take the pin, Swagger tagged his back, came in and made the winning pin. Rhodes and Swagger started to argue, as did Big Show and Henry. Swagger threw Rhodes out through the ropes. Meanwhile, Kofi tried to break up Show/Henry but got shoved down. Swagger ran and kicked Kofi, then Henry grabbed Swagger, headbutted him and tossed him out. Show speared Henry down to complete the Raw melee.

Winners: Mark Henry, Big Show, MVP, Kofi Kingston & Cody Rhodes win via pinfall over Primo, MVP, Chavo Guerrero, Evan Bourne and Chris Masters.

Cole & Lawler discussed last week's tag match involving Orton & Cena going against Legacy. Orton tried to go forth with a plan to beat down Cena, but Ted Dibiase stole a pinfall on Orton to win it.

Josh Matthews interviewed Dibiase in the locker room. Dibiase said he didn't do anything different than Orton would do in a competitive match. Matthews asked what Orton's reaction was. Dibiase said Orton hasn't returned his calls. Just then, Orton showed up and Matthews took off fast. Orton confronted Dibiase saying he betrayed him. Dibiase asked Orton if he wouldn't have done the same thing if he were him. Orton told Dibiase that in their upcoming match, Dibiase will not fight back or lift a finger. Orton told Dibiase he needs to show him the respect he deserves, or he might get thrown out of Legacy. Orton said if he doesn't followed orders, he'll regret it for the rest of his life.

A Wrestlemania 26 tickets promo said there are 19 days until tickets go on sale officially.

Ted Dibiase vs. Randy Orton

Orton got right in Dibiase's face before the bell. As the bell rang, Orton coldly walked over for a brief stare down then kicked Dibiase in the gut to bring him down. Orton hit a forearm uppercut with Dibiase looking upset at the attack. Orton looked at Dibiase, then kicked him again. Dibiase appeared to be getting angrier. Orton crouched down and told Dibiase "don't even think about it Ted" before kicking him again. Orton began to stomp away on various body parts. Dibiase finally stood up and faced Orton, enraged. Orton shoved Dibiase by the face several times, daring him to punch. Orton shoved Dibiase to the ropes and as he bounced back he shoved Orton down. Orton quickly backed into a corner with Dibiase going towards him.

Dibiase continued to shake with anger, but he didn't attack. Orton got back up in his face to stare him down as the audience booed. Dibiase hung his head, so Orton tipped his head up by the chin, then coldly hit the RKO to win it.

Winner: Randy Orton wins via pinfall over Ted Dibiase.

Michael Cole & Jerry Lawler spoke about the late Captain Lou Albano who passed away last week. A highlight video was shown featuring Captain Lou in all sorts of antics. Louis Vincent Albano started in 1953 as a wrestler, but after retiring from the ring he eventually became a manager for WWF/WWE. The narrated promo ended with the words "Often imitated, never duplicated, never forgotten."

Members of the NFL's Jacksonville Jaguars were shown in the Raw crowd.

They showed a sneak peak of Snoop Dogg's new music video for the single Gangsta Luv (MP3). Snoop was shown chillin' backstage with Bella Twins & Eve. They asked when the new album drops "Malice in Wonderland" and he said December 8th. Just then, Hornswoggle came in to slap hands with Snoop. Snoop told Horney "make sure you do what I told you to tonight". Just then, Chavo walked in and stared down at Horney. Chavo quipped "like DX is going to take you serious?" Hornswoggle game him the DX crotch chop then took off, with Chavo yelling at him. Chavo told Snoop he needs to be on Team Raw, but the guest hosts keep overlooking him.

Jillian Hall came in next and demanded a rematch for the Divas title. Snoop said he heard her little Paparazzi cover. Jillian started singing Snoop's "Gin & Juice". Just then, Santino Marella came in dressed up as Charlie Brown. He said they got off on the wrong foot a few years back, so he wanted to make peace by dressing up as Charlie the Brown. Santino and Chavo started talking loud as Jillian began singing again, so finally Snoop told them all to get out. He asked Eve for his special bag, and said it was time to light up. Raw put up a "Technical Difficulties - Please Stand By -" graphic with Michael Cole & Hornswoggle on it. When they came back there was smoke in the air, but the camera panned down to several scented candles on the table. Snoop said he brought all his favorite ones including "cut grass". Santino came back in to sit next to the Bellas and said "Good grief!"

Cena was shown backstage contemplating what could be his final match on Raw.

John Cena vs. Triple H

Cena had several takedowns on HHH early, and went for the Attitude Adjustment with HHH sliding off. HHH recovered in the corner opposite Cena. The two locked up again, with Cena using another headlock takedown. Jerry Lawler noted that this is only the fourth one on one match between Cena & HHH. Cena used a hip toss takedown at one point followed by a quick near fall. The Game regrouped again and tried for a headlock, with Cena countering it and powering HHH down with a wristlock. HHH escaped it to take control as he smashed Cena into the corner . He tried to punch away, but Cena punched him back to the other corner. Cena tried for a whip to the corner and a charge, but HHH exploded back to level Cena. HHH stayed in control and after several more near falls he went for the Pedigree. Cena countered it and was able to fling HHH to the corner, over the ropes. Raw took a commercial break.

Raw returned back in the ring with Cena down and HHH in control. HHH hit a side slam over his knee with Cena. Another near fall was attempted. During the commercial, HHH ran into Cena on the apron knocking him into the commentary table. HHH continued his attack, but Cena got up and started trading punches with The Game. Cena ducked a clothesline and hit a shoulder block, but missed his next one as HHH avoided it. HHH used a chop block to clip Cena's leg. Cena recovered and tripped HHH down for a near STF, but HHH grabbed the rope. HHH hung against the ropes and as Cena charged at him, HHH got a leg up. Cena managed to pull off a fishermen's suplex on HHH. HHH went for The Pedigree. Cena avoided it, eventually putting HHH into the STF. HHH started to crawl to the ropes, but Cena yanked him back. HHH finally managed to get over and grab the ropes, the kicked Cena away.

HHH went over and did the Pedigree. He paused momentarily before crawling over for the pin. Cena got his leg on the bottom rope to break it up. Raw took another commercial break. When they returned, Cena was getting back into the ring where HHH punched him down. HHH avoided Cena's Attitude Adjustment yet again, and then put Cena into a Sharpshooter. Orton was shown watching the match on a backstage TV. Cena started to gain momentum yet again. Cole said this is the never say die attitude that Orton will have to face Sunday. Cena signaled for Five Knuckle Shuffle and hit it on HHH. HHH countered another Attitude Adjustment. The Game started to gain his momentum with a Facebuster and eventual Spinebuster on Cena. As Cena got up, HHH went for the Pedigree again and hit it. Another pinfall by HHH, but Cena kicked out again. Cena got up and hit Attitude Adjustment on HHH, and had a very close pinfall.

Cena went for a legdrop off the ropes, but HHH avoided it. Cena tried for another Attitude Adjustment, but HHH countered then hit a third Pedigree. This time it was good for the winning pinfall over Cena. HHH stumbled back to the corner after the win, as Cena sat up on the mat. HHH walked over and helped Cena up with a handshake. Lawler said Cena might be thinking tonight could have been his last match on Raw. Orton was shown watching still on a monitor backstage, as he crouched down to look at Cena's face. Cena saluted the fans before leaving the ring. They chanted for him as he walked up the ramp, then threw up his hand signs.

Winner: Triple H wins via pinfall over John Cena.

Cole and Lawler talked up the upcoming Shawn Michaels versus Chris Jericho match for later.

WWE Slam of the Week showed highlights from Friday's Smackdown "The Dirt Sheet". The Miz and Morrison were reunited for the show before their big match at Bragging Rights. They discussed tag teams that broke up where one partner went on to become greater. The Rockers were shown, and Morrison started to mock the Miz calling him "Mizzy Jannetty".

The Miz came down for the next match to fight an amateur opponent already in the ring. Before Justin Roberts could even announce the guy's name, Snoop came on the Titantron. Snoop said he was bothered by what Miz was talking about Marty Jannetty. Snoop said Marty Jannetty was an Intercontinental Champion and a tag champ, and he's also Miz' opponent right now.

Marty Jannetty vs. The Miz

Miz backed him to the corner early and as he backed off, Jannetty slapped him. Marty with a near fall on Miz, then started to hype the crowd up. Miz hit a serious clothesline off the ropes to level Jannetty, then used a rear chinlock. Jannetty eventually got up to hit Miz in the gut and slam him back. Marty got onto the apron where he hit Miz and then slid under his legs. Jannetty started to gain momentum as he hit a backdrop on Miz, then went to the corner to jump down for a punch to Miz' face. Miz kicked out at 2. Marty got dropped by Miz onto the top rope, and as he snapped back, Miz put him into the Skullcrushing Finale to win it.

Winner: The Miz wins via pinfall over Marty Jannetty.

Divas Championship Match

Prior to the match they announced that there will be a Raw vs Smackdown divas match at Bragging Rights. It will be Kelly Kelly, Gail Kim & Melina taking on Beth Phoenix, Natalya & Michelle McCool. If Jillian beats Melina tonight, she takes her place on the Raw team also.

Jillian got Melina on her shoulders early to slam her back for a near fall. She started kneeing Melina then whipped her to the corner. Jillian did her cartwheel towards Melina but Melina jumped up and got her legs around Jillian's neck. Chavo jumped on the apron to distract the ref, but out from under the ring came Hornswoggle dressed all in black with a fake beard, like a gangsta. He grabbed Chavo, and that mini brawl caused Jillian to be distracted. Melina grabbed her and hit her split move into a pinfall.

Winner: Melina wins via pinfall over Jillian Hall to retain the WWE Divas Championship.

After the match, Chavo grabbed Hornswoggle and tore off his gantsta costume as the divas exited the ring. Chavo started shaking Hornswoggle ferociously but Snoop Dogg came running down to the ring. Chavo shoved Hornswoggle down, then pushed Snoop in the chest several times. He slapped Snoop in the face. Hornswoggle set up behind Chavo so Snoop could deliver a clothesline. Chavo bounced back up and tore off his t-shirt ready to throw down. Snoop began dancing around ready to go. Chavo came running at him, but Snoop ducked him then did a semi-spear move to take down Chavo. With Chavo down, Snoop's new single came on. Jericho said they'll defeat Team Raw and they'll start right now with Michaels. Just then, Cryme Tyme's music hit and they came out from the audience to the ring. Michaels jumped out of the ring, but just then Kane's pyro hit and his music came on. Kane came walking out through the audience with Ziggler, Escobar and McIntyre following behind. All seven members of Team Smackdown were in the ring with Michaels on the outside. Kane set off his pyro from the ringposts.

Jericho got back on the mic to continue trash talking. Just then, DX's music hit and HHH came down the ramp, followed by the rest of Team Raw. The two teams lined up across from each other in the ring for a staredown. HHH got on the mic to congratulate Jericho for uniting Team Raw, because they all agree they don't like him or his team or show. HHH said they might have walked onto Raw, but they're about to get thrown off it. Just then, "Excuse me!" was heard several times over the mic, as Vickie Guerrero came out from backstage. The crowd started to boo Vickie loudly. Vickie said as official consultant for Team Smackdown she will not allow this. Vickie said the fight will have to wait until Sunday, because Team Smackdown is leaving the arena now. The crowd chanted "You suck" at her. HHH told Jericho to leave with his team. Hunter said Team Raw doesn't work for Vickie though, and he punched Jericho.

Both teams started to brawl in the ring. Jericho was thrown across the commentators' table, while the rest of the men kept fighting it out in the ring. Raw went off the air as the fight continued.
