Raw Recap 11.09.09

Raw Recap from Sheffield, England:

Raw opened with highlight footage from last Monday's show with the Triple Threat main event of John Cena vs. Chris Jericho vs. Big Show. DX was ringside on guest commentary. The match ended when Show clocked Cena with a KO punch and Jericho stole the pin in the ring. JeriShow started to attack Cena after the match had ended, and DX rushed in to try to save Cena. Michaels and HHH were soon beaten down as well, and JeriShow laughed as they backed up the ramp.

Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler welcomed fans to the UK's Sheffield, England. Tonight there'll be a huge match between Mark Henry and Randy Orton. Justin Roberts introduced 2-time IBF welterweight boxing champion and tonight's guest host Ricky Hatton. Hatton was escorted down the ramp to the ring by the Bella Twins wearing boxing gear. The crowd went wild for several moments before Hatton spoke and welcomed them to Raw. Hatton had highlights of his match against Carlos Maussa shown where he delivered a KO punch, in the very same building as Raw. Hatton started to say he was a man of the people and wanted to make new memories for them tonight. He was suddenly interrupted as JeriShow's theme music hit and the duo made their way to the ring wearing suits.

Show immediately stood in front of Hatton to look down at him. Show said he had a breakfast this morning bigger than Hatton. Show told Hatton to do them a favor and leave the ring. Hatton said he was a huge fan of Show's, especially when he got knocked out by another boxer at Wrestlemania. Show said he'd give Hatton the same opportunity he gave Mayweather, a free shot to the chin. Show said after that tap, he gets to knock Hatton out. Hatton said he'd need a ladder. Show got down on his knees and Hatton backed up in preparation for a punch. Jericho rushed in front of him to stop Hatton from doing any damage. Jericho said he didn't want Show embarassed by another boxer. Show started asking Jericho what he was talking about. Jericho said he's at the top of his career. He listed off recent accomplishments: winning for Team Smackdown, beating Cena last week and then said he'll defeat Undertaker and Show at Survivor Series. Show and Jericho were about to throw down, when Hatton interrupted and said tonight he wants to see JeriShow versus DX.

Hatton told Jericho he's in England now so he needs to speak their language. Jericho called Hatton a "punch drunk" and started to brag. Hatton got in Jericho's face and told him to back down. The unified tag champs started to pace around Hatton as if they wanted to attack, but DX's music hit and they came to the ring to interrupt. Hunter chastised Show and Jericho for not getting it, since they always interrupt the guest hosts. HHH told Hatton not to worry since DX would take care of them later. Michaels got on the mic and said how about right now. He clocked Jericho who rolled to the outside. Show backed up, removed his jacket and rolled up his sleeves then stepped out of the ring. Jericho left with him. DX did yet another crotch chop in unison with a guest host after Hatton delivered the "if you're not down with that..." line.

A replay was shown of the divas battle royal last week where Kelly Kelly and Alicia Fox were the final 2 competitors. Alicia Fox won it by tossing Kelly out after an attempted handspring move.

Kelly Kelly vs. Alicia Fox

Kelly was accompanied to the ring by Gail Kim while Alicia Fox brought Jillian with her. Michael Cole announced there will be a traditional Survivor Series elimination match with the team of Mickie James (c), Kelly Kelly, Melina and Eve Torres taking on the team of Michelle McCool (c), Beth Phoenix, Layla, Alicia Fox and Jillian Hall.

Alicia shoved Kelly in the face to start things, so Kelly responded by tackling her down for a load of punches. Kelly got tripped into the corner turnbuckle so Alicia could start to dominate. Melina was shown watching backstage to scout her future opponent, Alicia. Alicia kept punishing Kelly on the mat using submission holds and slamming her face first to the mat. Kelly finally got to her feet with momentum. She hit a series of moves including a Hurricanrana type Sunset Flip pinfall. Alicia was able to escape a pinfall and then dropped Kelly on her midsection on the top rope. She followed up with her scissor kick to the back of Kelly's neck. Next week, Alicia faces Melina for the title in MSG.

Winner: Alicia Fox wins via pinfall over Kelly.

Cole and Lawler introduced a video piece about Wrestlemania XXVI tickets sale at University of Phoenix Stadium this past Saturday. Fans were interviewed while waiting to get tickets. Tickets are still on sale at Ticketmaster.

Backstage, Ricky Hatton was walking with a young boy dressed in Cena gear. He shook hands with several guys backstage before they got to Cena. Cena greeted the young fan and then commended Hatton on his job as guest host. He asked why he left him out though. Hatton said Cena's got his hands full with a title defense in a few weeks so he's giving him some time off. Cena thanked him and Hatton left the scene.

"Get Thru This" by Art of Dying is the official theme song for Survivor Series 2009.

Cole and Lawler covered last week's beating that Sheamus delivered to Jamie Noble. The ref eventually stopped the match. Noble was taken away via stretcher after a huge Powerbomb by Sheamus on the outside. Noble spent days in a medical facility and Lawler said Noble is contemplating retirement. Cole said Sheamus will be part of "Team Miz" at Survivor Series. The teams will be The Miz, Sheamus, Jack Swagger, Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre versus John Morrison, Shelton Benjamin, Finlay, Matt Hardy & Evan Bourne in a traditional elimination style match.

Amateur local talent vs. Sheamus

Sheamus got on the mic talking about how he promised to end Noble's career and delivered on his word. Sheamus said tonight he'll walk through this Englishman and make him look like a fool. Noble quickly threw his opponent to the match then hammered the back of his head before whipping him hard to the corner. Sheamus continued roughing the guy up in the corner, but got a boot to the face. Sheamus recovered though and was able to slam him across his knee eventually. The man stood up and got a running boot from Sheamus, followed by a Razor's Edge style throw to the mat.

Winner: Sheamus wins via pinfall over amateur opponent.

Cole and Lawler commended WWE.com for its great media website work. They talked about the new Hatton Health and Fitness center made in Hyde, United Kingdown, which is Hatton's hometown. It contains over 100 pieces of equipment.

Backstage, the Bella Twins were standing alongside Hatton and said they were so excited to be part of his show, then casually asked what he's been up to lately. Hatton said he's been very busy lately with his new fashion line that the Bellas were modeling, his new health and fitness complex and more. The Bellas pulled out some darts and said they wanted lessons from Hatton. Just then, Santino entered the picture dressed in a huge puffy boxing outfit. Hatton said he was dressed as Hatton's alter-ego, Ricky Fatton. Chavo noticed the darts, and said he won the Cinco De Dart Mayo contest several times. Hatton asked him to give it a try, and Chavo threw high up on the board. Hatton threw a bullseye. Santino laughed at it so Chavo got in his face saying he wanted to challenge him. Hatton stepped in and said tonight they'll do a boxer versus wrestler, himself vs Chavo.

Josh Matthews spoke with The Miz backstage. Miz spoke about how he beat the captain of the opposing Survivor Series team, John Morrison, at Bragging Rights. Miz said his team's full of rising talents. He was about to say his "I'm Awesome" line but Swagger showed up and said "you're in awe of Jack Swagger". The two started arguing about how Miz defeated Evan Bourne after losing to him the week before. Swagger faces Bourne tonight and told Miz soon he'll be named Team Captain for Survivor Series.

Evan Bourne vs. Jack Swagger

Swagger dominated the majority of the match from the start. Bourne finally gained momentum with a move off the corner. Swagger started punching away, but as he whipped Bourne to the ropes, Bourne jumped on him to take him down with two knees. Swagger escaped a pinfall and booted Bourne to the mat. Just then, The Miz' music hit and out came The Miz with a mic. Swagger did a belly to belly throw to take Bourne down. He taunted Miz and then picked up Bourne for a suplex. Bourne escaped it with a knee to Swagger's head, then did a mule kick to knock him to the mat. Air Bourne followed for the upset victory with Miz shaking his head. Swagger's undefeated streak is broken. Miz got on the mic to remind Swagger that he's team captain because he's the Miz and he's awesome.

Winner: Evan Bourne wins via pinfall over Jack Swagger.

Mark Henry was getting ready backstage when MVP came up to him. The duo started walking on their way out for the next segment, the VIP Lounge.

Footage was shown from Raw two weeks ago in Buffalo, NY. NASCAR's Joey Logano and Kyle Busch were hosts. Jerry Lawler was on hand for a recent Texas NASCAR race where Kyle Busch drove the Smackdown vs Raw car and won the race. He had the WWE Championship belt with him to show off.

MVP hosted the VIP Lounge (with Mark Henry) with tonight's guest Kofi Kingston. Another traditional Survivor Series match was announced: Kofi Kingston will lead MVP, Mark Henry, R-Truth and Christian against Randy Orton's team of Ted Dibiase, Cody Rhodes, CM Punk and William Regal.

MVP talked about how Kofi Kingston made a statement how he wouldn't be pushed around by anyone on the Raw roster, especially Randy Orton. Mark Henry introduced footage from last week's six man tag match where Henry, MVP and Kofi defeated Orton & Legacy. MVP had Mark Henry pop open a bottle of champagne so they could toast Kofi Kingston. Just as they were about to get things going, Orton came out with Legacy to interrupt the celebration. Orton stared down a security guard at the VIP lounge ropes, who eventually let him and Legacy through. All 3 got into the ring. Orton called Henry, Kingston and MVP a bunch of low class street thugs. He said Henry stole a victory last week, MVP is a common criminal and Kofi should be in jail for what he did to Orton's car. Dibiase said MVP's bank account pales in comparison to his. MVP said that's his daddy's bank account. Orton said Henry, MVP and Kingston belong in the hood where they came from. Orton stared down Kofi, who promptly slapped him. The Viper was enraged but he and Legacy held themselves back as Raw went to break.

Mark Henry vs. Randy Orton

Henry and Orton were in progress as Raw returned from commercial. Henry had control until a drop toe hold put him face first into the corner. Orton tried for a series of punches on him in the corner, but Henry bear hugged him and dropped him to the mat. MVP, Kofi Kingston and Legacy were watching outside the ring. Henry missed on an elbow drop, allowing Orton to start stomping away on him. Orton used submission holds to wear down the big man on the mat. Henry had a pinfall attempt, which Orton escaped. The two got to their feet as Henry headbutted Orton, then splashed him in the corner. Henry hit a series of headbutts on Orton in the corner. Orton slumped against Henry then fell to the mat. Henry whipped Orton to the ropes, but Randy came back with a Sunset Flip. He couldn't pull Henry down, so Henry grabbed him around the neck to pick up. Orton escaped it and hit a very quick RKO to win it.

Kofi was checking on Henry after the pinfall. Orton grabbed him, but Kofi responded by punching Orton out of the ring. Orton backed up the ramp with Legacy as Kofi taunted him to get in the ring.

Winner: Randy Orton wins via pinfall over Mark Henry.

Chavo was practicing throwing punches backstage. His match with Ricky Hatton is up next.

When Raw returned, Michael Cole said a new Raw theme debuts next week, Nickelback's "Burn it to the Ground". The song is on their three time platinum album "Dark Horse".

Ricky Hatton vs. Chavo Guerrero
Boxer vs Wrestler MMA match

Hatton came out in boxing gear and a big Sombrero to his theme song "Blue Moon". Justin Roberts explained that the boxer can only win by knockout and the wrestler by pinfall/submission. Chavo and Hatton got nose to nose before the ref separated them for introductions. Chavo slapped Hatton as Ricky put his glove out for the touch. Hatton immediately went at him as the bell rang. Chavo ducked under the ropes several time to escape a possible punch.

Hatton landed several punches to Chavo's gut, before Chavo escaped the ring. Chavo got back in the ring and did a takedown on Hatton to the mat. Hatton escaped fast to get back to his feet. Chavo was able to deliver a kick to Hatton's gut, and then bear hugged him. Hatton escaped that and delivered a swift, solid shot to Chavo's mug. The ref counted it and Chavo pulled himself up by a rope, but fell back to the mat to lose by knockout. Hatton celebrated with the crowd as he walked up the ramp.

Winner: Ricky Hatton wins by Knockout over Chavo Guerrero.

Cole and Lawler discussed the impending Survivor Series PPV, two weeks away. They covered the variety of matches including the two main event Triple Threat matches for the titles. Also, a grudge match takes place with Rey Mysterio vs Batista.

Back in the locker room, Cena was telling Hornswoggle he was going too far with the whole DX imitation bit. Cena told him DX will take him to court for thousands of dollars. They heard DX nearby so Cena told Horney to go hide. DX came in and asked where Hornswoggle was. Cena pretended not to know. They talked over their Survivor Series triple threat match, with HHH saying one of DX will leave as champ. Michaels asked Cena to give up Hornswoggle, so Cena called for him. Horney came out wearing Cena gear, then did the "you can't see me" hand. Michaels and HHH left after HHH told Cena something stinks there and it's not just Hornswoggle. Once they left, Horney tore off his Cena shirt to reveal a DX shirt. Cena handed him some glowsticks and Horney did the DX chop, with Cena calling him an idiot.

Jericho and Big Show were shown backstage talking strategy for their main event tag match against DX.

Raw once again rolled out highlights from last week's show hosted by Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne. It included Raw's Got Talent with special guest judge Great Khali joining Ozzy and Sharon. The talent show ended when Sharon slapped Jillian Hall down, and Great Khali chopped Chavo down. Jackswoggle came down to do a Tadpole splash on Chavo in the ring.

Next week's special guest host for Raw is Rowdy Roddy Piper in NYC's Madison Square Garden. John Cena made his way to ringside for guest commentary on the main event.

D-Generation X vs. Chris Jericho & Big Show

During the early part of the match, Cena discussed the format of the Triple Threat, asking if DX will be working together as go every man for himself. Triple H hit a catapult move which sent Jericho outside the ring as Raw went to break.

Late in the match, HHH had Show set up for a Pedigree, but Big Show launched him with a backdrop. Show came back using the ropes to Spear HHH down. Jericho came in to start punching away on HHH in the corner. The ref was distracted keeping Michaels out of the ring, allowing Show to choke HHH in the corner. Jericho and Show continued to dominate HHH keeping him from a tag to Michaels. Jericho punched away on HHH in the corner as the ref pulled him away. Jericho went for a bulldog attempt with HHH able to hit a Spinebuster instead. Michaels yelled for HHH to tag. He finally made the hot tag to bring Michaels in who gained momentum on Jericho with a barrage of moves. Michaels knocked Show off the apron, then climbed the corner for an elbow drop on Jericho.

Michaels wound up for Sweet Chin Music in the corner. Jericho ducked it and tried for Walls of Jericho with Michaels reversing it. The ref somehow became distracted with HHH who was on the outside. Big Show rushed in and splashed both Michaels and Jericho in the corner. Michaels stumbled back and fell down right as Show tried for a knockout punch. Show clocked Jericho instead by accident. HHH got back in and took Show out over the top rope. Michaels dragged Jericho into the ring for a winning pin.

As DX was down on the mat recovering after the win, Justin Roberts got on the mic. He announced next week's huge main event: a Triple Threat tag team match featuring DX vs. JeriShow vs. John Cena & Undertaker. Taker was introduced with his music, smoke and dark arena, as Cena stood on the announcers table grinning.

Winners: D-Generation X wins via pinfall over Chris Jericho & Big Show.
