Smackdown Preview 11.06.09
Last week on Smackdown, two longtime friends tried to settle their differences from Bragging Rights with a talk in the ring. Unfortunately, Rey Mysterio's attempts to convince Batista that their friendship was more important than any gripes from the Fatal Fourway match they both lost, fell on deaf ears from Batista. The Animal seemed unhappy with his former friend, whom he also chose to dismantle at the Pay-Per-View. Although no punches were thrown in the ring on Smackdown, it was clear that their differences won't be settled in a civilized manner. With Survivor Series approaching, it appears that Rey Mysterio and Batista are far from solving their problem. Later on, Matt Hardy tried to offer some friendly advice to the Animal backstage, but Batista was clearly not having it. He took Hardy down hard, and due to the altercation, the two are scheduled to meet in the ring tonight. Will Matt Hardy be able to overcome Batista's recent fury?
Smackdown also saw the Bragging Rights trophy arrive to the victorious show to the admiration of GM Teddy Long. Chris Jericho tried to claim it was his work that brought the Team Smackdown a victory, while the Big Red Machine Kane had his own side of the story. Meanwhile, Big Show from Raw had been granted a title match with Undertaker at Survivor Series for his act of traitorism at the event. Both Jericho and Kane, made claims that they should be in a Triple Threat match for that World Heavyweight title along with Show and Taker. To settle things, Long arranged a Jericho versus Kane main event, with the winner getting their title request granted. Jericho managed to pick up the win, making the Triple Threat he and Big Show versus Undertaker. The tag champs seemed to be on and off the same page on this past week's episode of Raw during their dismantling of John Cena and DX in the ring. Will these two continue to work together effectively as partners, or will the upcoming title match drive the Unified Tag team champions apart?
In other action, CM Punk beat up Scott Armstrong, the referee who aided him at Breaking Point in beating the Undertaker. Punk made quick work of the referee who is a former wrestler, making fans wonder what is next for the self-proclaimed "straight edge superstar" of Smackdown. Also, Beth Phoenix defeated a local amateur diva, solidifying the Glamazon's position as a dominant force in the diva division. And Dolph Ziggler continues to make his move towards the Intercontinental Title. On last week's Smackdown, Ziggler defeated Morrison via countout, possibly keeping Dolph's name as the top contender. Will Ziggler be granted yet another shot at the IC title, or will someone new receive a shot?
