Here is the full recap of WWE Superstars which aired 12/24/09 (Christmas eve) on WGN America. After the opening pyro display went off, ECW's Josh Matthews welcomed fans to the show, wishing a happy holiday season to all. Ezekiel Jackson came out for the opening match.Vladimir Kozlov vs. Ezekiel Jackson
ECW commentators Matthews and Byron Saxon looked at footage from two weeks ago, when Kozlov and Jackson fought in their ECW Homecoming match. William Regal interfered to cost Kozlov the match, and afterward, Regal and Jackson beat up Kozlov outside the ring.William Regal wasn't around for tonight's match, and according to Matthews he was attending to an important "business matter". Not long into the match, Jackson tackled Kozlov through the ropes to the outside. From there, Kozlov got up first and started beating on Jackson, then kicked him hard into the crowd barrier. He continued stomping on Jackson, but Jackson got up and shoved him into the steel post. Kozlov recovered and tackled Jackson back down to pummel him. As they were continuing to battle outside, the ref kept counting, and eventually it was ruled a double countout.
Kozlov yelled at Jackson to get back in the ring with him. Jackson just backed up the ramp smirking about it, saving the fight for another day.
Winner: Ezekiel Jackson and Vladimir Kozlov fought to a double countout.
Still to come is tonight's main event from Smackdown, featuring Kane versus Mike Knox.
When Superstars returned they aired a promotional highlight reel video of Captain Charisma, the ECW Champion, Christian.
Commentators Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler were on hand from WWE Raw. They reminded fans that for the Christmas edition of Smackdown tomorrow night that Undertaker will defend the World Heavyweight title, then showed highlights from last week's #1 Contender match. Batista and Rey Mysterio faced off in the ring for the right to battle Taker on Christmas. Batista seemed to be dominating the match. There were several near falls, but in the end, Mysterio got the surprise roll up pinfall on The Animal to earn #1 Contender status.
Michael Cole and Lawler also reminded fans that on Monday Night Raw, Timbaland will be guest host in Hartford, CT.
Primo vs. Chavo Guerrero
After Chavo controlled things for a bit of this match, Primo made his comeback. After a backflip on the mat, he ran at Chavo and did a Side Russian legsweep. Chavo kicked out of the pin at 2, so Primo went up top for a springboard move off the top rope. Chavo did a dropkick mid-air to take Primo down. Chavo taunted the crowd, then waited for Primo to get up so he could do the Tres Amigos suplex. Primo countered the third attempted suplex for a pinfall. Chavo kicked out, and then Primo backdropped him. Primo started to kick and punch Chavo then picked him up for a slam. Chavo held onto the ropes and managed to drop out of the ring, pulling Primo against the top rope. Chavo quickly got up on the corner for the Frogsplash to win it.Winner: Chavo Guerrero wins via pinfall over Primo.
Ask the Divas segment was shown next. "How do you deal with Holiday Stress?" and "Who would win a match between Santa Claus, Hanukkah Harry and Dominick the Italian Christmas donkey?" were the questions for this time. WWE Divas Gail Kim, Maryse, The Bella Twins and Eve Torres weighed in on these important topics.
Upon WWE Superstars' return, they aired a promotional video about the 2009 WWE Tribute to the Troops, which showcased the troops, and WWE's visit to Iraq for their sports entertainment show.
The Intercontinental Champion Drew McIntyre came out from backstage with his championship belt, dressed up in a suit and tie. Smackdown's commentators Matt Striker and Todd Grisham noted how we all have much to be thankful for during the holidays. Drew McIntyre is thankful for his new title. They showed off still images from the TLC PPV match where McIntyre raked Morrison in the eye with a thumb to win the belt.
McIntyre brought a microphone into the ring to cut a promo, about how Mr. McMahon saw his potential when he signed him to Smackdown. McIntyre bragged about being the new Intercontinental champ. McIntyre said Mr. McMahon was right, and everything he said he would do, he has done. As McIntyre continued his speech, he was interrupted by John Morrison's theme music. Morrison came down to the ring for a confrontation. Morrison congratulated McIntyre about winning the title and how he and Mr. McMahon have mapped the future out.
Morrison asked McIntyre if he heard about New Year's Day, then informed him that he is getting his rematch then on Smackdown, thanks to Teddy Long. McIntyre told him to celebrate it up on New Year's Eve, because on New Year's day his party is over. Morrison asked McIntyre if he's ever been to a party, then said nobody would ever party with McIntyre, because they can't understand a word he says. Morrison said after the match, McIntyre can shut his mouth. Morrison said on New Year's day, he will beat McIntyre for the IC title. McIntyre shrugged it off then went to strike Morrison. Instead, Morrison got in the first shots. He ended up avoiding McIntyre as he tried to spear him in the corner, causing Drew to hit the post shoulder first. With Drew down on the mat, Morrison did the Starship Pain on him, then went over and held up the IC belt before tossing it onto McIntyre.
Kane was shown intently walking backstage, ready for the main event against Mike Knox.
When WWE Superstars returned, they showed a highlight video of John Cena and his efforts with the Armed Forces and Tribute to the Troops. Cena's speech to the troops was played over the highlight clips from overseas.
Kane vs. Mike Knox
Striker and Grisham mentioned that Mike Knox likes to inflict pain, but offered to ride in the ambulance with Kane if he has to go to the hospital after their match. According to the commentators, Kane has won the first two matches of this series.Superstars returned from a commercial break, and Kane clotheslined Knox to the outside. Outside the ring, Kane gave an uppercut shot to Knox before tossing him back in the ring. As Kane got up on the apron, he grabbed Knox for a chokeslam, but instead Knox dropped his weight so Kane hit the top rope throat first. Knox followed with a big boot to send Kane off the apron.
Knox landed a big chop move on Kane from the corner ropes. Knox began unloading on Kane in the corner, then whipped him to the opposite. With Kane down, Knox did a huge splash for a near fall. Knox locked a submission hold in on the mat. Kane was able to stand up and slam Knox back to the mat, but after a moment both guys got up and Knox booted Kane back down.
Kane started to take control with some hard uppercut shots to Knox, then a sidewalk slam out of the corner. Kane got a 2 count out of that deal. Kane climbed to the top rope for his clothesline to take Knox down for another near fall. Knox got his shoulder up at 2 1/2. Knox avoided a charge in the corner, then came back to connect on a cross body block for a near fall of his own. Both men got up on the corner for a battle, with Knox shoving Kane down. Knox made a jump at Kane, but went right into the "Christmas Eve" Chokeslam. Kane is now 3-0 in the recent feud.
Winner: Kane wins via pinfall over Mike Knox.
Todd Grisham told kids to go to bed because Santa is on his way, its a DX Christmas countdown until their big match on Smackdown.
