Capitol Punishment 2011 PPV Matches

WWE's Capitol Punishment 2011 matches will take place in none other than the nation's capitol, Washington, DC. Fans have seen the various presidential press conferences airing during Raw, Smackdown, NXT and Superstars, ahead of this latest WWE Pay-Per-View event.

There's already four matches scheduled for the card as of today. Three championships are on the line and a new feud/grudge match has taken shape. Two of the latest matches come via this past Friday's episode of Smackdown. Let's get down to which wrestlers and matches are scheduled so far for Capitol Punishment 2011.

John Cena will defend the WWE Championship against R-Truth. The match was booked following R-Truth's agreement to apologize to John Cena on Monday Night Raw. This will be the first main event singles championship match for Truth on a Pay-Per-View.

Alex Riley will take on his former NXT pro, The Miz. Things finally boiled over between the student and the teacher a few weeks ago on Raw after Miz kept blaming Riley's incompetence for the reason he lost the WWE Championship to Cena. Riley has given Miz several memorable beatdowns on Raw over the past month or so.

Recently announced, Ezekiel Jackson gets his third attempt at Wade Barrett's Intercontinental Championship. On Friday's Smackdown, The Corre disbanded after Ezekiel and The Usos won a tag match against Barrett, Slater and Gabriel. Backstage, Slater and Gabriel wished Barrett luck but said The Corre was finished. Will the third time be a charm for Jackson in his quest for championship gold?

A fourth match announced during Friday's Smackdown will be another championship rematch with Christian battling Randy Orton. Christian had a tirade on Smackdown to blame the people for causing him to lose the title. He argued with Orton enough during their exchange on the show that Orton finally granted him a title match at Capitol Punishment. Christian has vowed to win the title back and this time for himself, not the people.

WWE's Capitol Punishment 2011 PPV will air on Sunday, June 19th at 8PM EST via cable, satellite and internet video stream. Stay tuned this week here at the blog for full details on how to see the upcoming Pay-Per-View event!

Over the Limit 2011 PPV Matches

The WWE Over the Limit 2011 matches are coming in slowly but surely. As of this report, there are 3 matches on the card scheduled for the second Pay-Per-View of May 2011.

The first match learned about was via Raw this past week. Alberto Del Rio, Rey Mysterio and The Miz competed in a Triple Threat match to determine #1 contender for John Cena's WWE Championship. The Miz managed to steal a win, surprising Rey Mysterio with the pinfall after Alex Riley yanked Alberto Del Rio out of the ring. Cena was able to choose a stipulation for their OTL match and went with an "I Quit Match."

The WWE Universe also learned that Jerry Lawler and Michael Cole will go at it one-on-one again. This time the stipulations were set by Jerry Lawler, who said if Cole wins, Lawler will personally induct him into the Hall of Fame, and give Cole his WWE Hall of Fame ring.

The next two matches came via Friday's Smackdown. First, it was announced that former World Heavyweight Champion, Christian, will take on the current champ, Randy Orton. This will be a regular one-on-one contest for the championship. Christian has vowed he wants to compete at 100% and show he can win the title back. Orton said he wants him at 100% to prove he's the better fighter.

And finally, The Corre's recent internal disagreements have created chaos among one member and the others. Ezekiel Jackson appears to be more of a face wrestler these days and is suffering the wrath of Wade Barrett's crew. Barrett issued a challenge to Jackson for OTL with the Intercontinental Championship on the line. Jackson is a former ECW champion, and in fact the last one to hold that title. Will he capture the IC title from Barrett?

WWE's Over the Limit Pay-Per-View takes place on Sunday, May 22nd, starting at 8PM EST.

Christian said he agrees with Teddy's decision though because he did his best for the fans.

Christian said he'll have his rematch in two weeks at Over the Limit PPV. He said a 100% prepared Christian can beat Randy Orton. Just then, Sheamus arrived to the ring to interrupt. Cole said he's a former 2-time champion, first ever Irish-born champ. Sheamus said he agrees it's all about giving the WWE Universe what they want, and what they want is a match between them right now. That brought Mark Henry out. Henry suggested he take on Sheamus, so Sheamus suggested they team up in a handicap match against Christian.

The beatdown started 2-on-1 as they pounded on Christian. Suddenly, Randy Orton rushed down into the ring to make a save. He and Christian dumped both guys out of the ring to set up a tag team match later.

Backstage, Teddy Long met with Christian and Orton. He said tonight they'll team up to face Sheamus and Mark Henry. Christian thanked Orton for coming out to help him. Orton said he had his reasons, since Christian promised at 100% he can beat Orton. Randy said he wants that so when he beats him at Over the Limit, there's no question who the better man is.

Tony Chimel went to do a ring introduction, but Chavo Guerrero, also in the ring, took the mic away to make the intro. Chavo introduced the man from Mexico who is following in his footsteps, Sin Cara.

Sin Cara vs. Daniel Bryan

Sin Cara looked outside the ring at Chavo puzzled, then waved him off as if he didn't want any part of his ring intro's. Chavo joined the commentators to comment on the match.

Things went to the outside late, with Daniel Bryan kicking Sin Cara in the leg. Bryan started to climb up the corner from the apron, but Chavo left his commentary position to grab Bryan's leg. From there he got on the corner, stood Bryan up and did a huge backflip slam to the mat for a pinfall.

Post-match, Chavo tried to raise Sin Cara's arm saying he helped him. Sin Cara was frustrated about how Chavo interfered. He eventually shoved Chavo down to the mat, then left the ring.

WWE Diva Layla was in the ring with a microphone. Layla talked about beating her friend Michelle McCool at Extreme Rules in a Loser Leaves WWE match. Layla said unfortunately during the match she hurt her knee, but it was worth it to finally get rid of Michelle. Cole stood up and got out of his Cole Miner's box to interrupt. He said nobody cares about this as he got in the ring.

Cole said nobody cares about her or any of the divas. Cole said the people want him to talk about Tennessee's own Jerry Lawler. That got the crowd going. Cole talked about how he'll defeat Lawler again and then take his Hall of Fame ring to show his mother. Layla got on the mic to interrupt, then told him to "Shut up!"

Cole told Layla she's just a pretty little cry baby who is crying about hurting her knee. He said the divas shouldn't even be in the WWE. Suddenly, Kharma's entrance theme started up causing fright in the ring as Cole started pointing to Layla laughing.

Kharma got in and attacked Layla then did her Implant Buster on her. Cole was laughing and cheering her on, standing next to her. Suddenly, Kharma turned her attention to Cole, chasing him out of the ring. He got into his Cole Miner's box for safekeeping. Kharma kept gazing back at Cole from the ramp as the ref's helped Layla outside the ring.

They showed Barrett, Gabriel and Slater of The Corre walking backstage en route to the ring.

Kane vs. Wade Barrett

Kane escaped Wasteland late in this one, to boot down Barrett on the mat. He then flipped over the top rope to the outside the punch down Gabriel and Slater. Kane got back on the apron as Wade tried to connect on a running boot. Kane eluded that and Barrett was hung up on the ropes.

From there, Kane did his flying clothesline off the corner, then set up for a chokeslam. Gabriel and Slater rushed in to attack him. Soon, Barrett joined in for the 3-on-1 beatdown. Barrett hit Wasteland on Kane, then instructed Gabriel to go do his finisher.

All of a sudden, Ezekiel Jackson's theme music hit. Jackson rushed to the ring and cleared Gabriel and Slater out of there with extreme force. Barrett attacked him, but Jackson soon fought back. However, before he knew it, Gabriel and Slater were back inside the ring for a 3-on-1 attack on Zeke. Slater did his finisher to slam Jackson to the mat, then Barrett instructed Gabriel to do the 450 Splash. Gabriel got on the corner and landed the move on him, then knelt down smiling an evil grin.

The three Corre members celebrated their decimation of Jackson.

Winner: Kane wins due to disqualification of Wade Barrett when The Corre interfered.

Backstage, Sheamus and Henry were shown talking strategy for their main event tag team match.

Ranjin Singh and Great Khali arrived to the ring wearing cowboy hats. Cole said they looked like versions of JR on Slimfast. Singh got on the mic to say it's time for the country edition of Khali's Kiss Cam. He said tonight Khali will do a country music version of Kiss Cam. They started panning around the arena stopping on several women. One was seen mouthing "Oh my God" in disgust.

Finally they stopped on a heavy woman near ringside. Singh said to bring her in. She was overweight so Cole was laughing. She said her name was Joy, Cole said he thought her name was JR. Khali bent down to plant one on her to get the crowd cheering. Singh thanked Joy and let her out of the ring.

Jinder Mahal, the newest WWE superstar arrived down to the ring wearing a suit. He got in the ring and stepped up to Khali looking angry. Mahal slapped Khali in the face knocking off the cowboy hat. Khali started fuming as Jinder kept yelling in his language at him, then hit him again. Khali didn't hit back and then Mahal left the ring, to walk up the ramp.

Christian asked Orton if he was ready in the locker room backstage. Orton said he is. Christian said he'll keep up his side of things, then told Orton to just make sure that he keeps up his side.

Dibiase was in the ring, ready to compete. Cody Rhodes arrived out with two men in suits along with him carrying paper bags to hide their faces. Rhodes said that should distract them all from the overall absence of attractiveness there tonight. They started handing them out to people at ringside, with some actually requesting the bags.

Rhodes said nobody in the WWE Universe is exempt from these bags, not even a "Priceless Friend." He tried to hand a bag to Dibiase, but Dibiase wouldn't take it.

Ted Dibiase vs. Cody Rhodes

In the late part of this match, Dibiase leveled Rhodes with a clothesline, then tried for Dream Street. Rhodes backed him against the corner to break it, then ducked a clothesline. Sheamus went for a Brogue Kick with Orton ducking and Sheamus falling out of the ring. Orton hit the DDT from the middle rope on Sheamus as he got back into the ring.

Sheamus countered and shoved Orton to the ropes, so Christian slapped Orton for the tag. sheamus set up for his finisher on Orton, but Christian came in to knock Sheamus off him. Henry rushed in to try to help with Orton hitting the RKO. Christian stunned Sheamus with Killswitch and took the winning pinfall.

He said he is "the face that is going to Wrestlemania." Next up, Rey Mysterio arrived out to confront everyone. He asked Del Rio how many Royal Rumbles he's won, then reminded them he's won 1 Royal Rumble. Rhodes said Rey's win is so 2006, then got in Truth's face and said "and that's the truth." Kofi talked about how even though Dolph had Vickie in his corner last week, Kofi had each and every fan there from the WWE Universe in his corner. Jack Swagger soon arrived out to interrupt.

Swagger said he's raising the bar up so maybe Kofi should join him up there. Swagger told Kofi the Anklelock is a dangerous position to be in. Swagger told Kofi he will tap out in front of the entire world. Kofi said he knows Swagger wants the Intercontinental title and he wants him to shut up, so he'll do that by beating him right now. This lead to the two having a one-on-one matchup.

Edge told them to stay in the ring, so Edge kept bringing up funny remarks about Vickie to insult her from the days they were married.

Vickie said she and Edge were married a long time ago, but she was young and naive. Ziggler talked about how Vickie took Edge in like a little dog and she resuscitated his career. Dolph said at the Rumble he's going to pull the plug on Edge and take the World title. Vickie said she brought a clip to show Edge what a better man, Dolph is. The clip showed Edge hooking up with wedding planner, Alicia Fox, back in July of 2008. Vickie attacked Edge on their wedding day over it.

Edge had a clip as well, of Dolph making out with Kaitlyn backstage on NXT. Vickie had a look at it and was upset over that. Edge said he couldn't figure out who the girl was in the video, but he thinks it might have been Vickie's NXT rookie Kaitlyn. Ziggler had enough and attacked Edge, knocking him down near the corner. Edge got back to his feet though and booted Ziggler down. Dolph rolled out of the ring.

Vickie started screaming at Edge and slapping him. He took several slaps to the face, then Vickie tried to jump on his back. Edge grabbed her and walked her over to set her by the corner. He started walking away, then got to the opposite corner. Edge got the look in his eye like he wanted to go for the Spear. Edge started to leave the ring, then Vickie began taunting him with "You can't touch me!" Edge took off his coat and prepared for a Spear. Ziggler yanked Edge by the legs out of the ring. On the outside, Ziggler measured Edge then did the Zig Zag onto the steel steps. Ziggler and Vickie kissed to end the show.

Ryder tried more offense to no avail, having to duck out under the top rope to get some recovery time. Stamford messed up during the match saying Jackson lost in the KOTR tournament in a double DQ, when it was a double countout. Ryder started to build up some offense, with a rake to Jackson's eyes and then pounding on him on the mat.

Big Zeke's power was too much for Ryder who took him down, then hit a huge running clothesline in the corner before hitting his one-armed finishing slam to the mat.

After he hit a Skullcrushing Finale on Orton, Miz retrieved a table from the outside of the ring and set it up inside. He went to hit Skullcrushing Finale and drive Orton through the table, but Orton slipped out and put Miz up on his shoulder. Miz slid off and escaped the ring. Orton picked up Riley and Powerbombed him through the table again to show Miz what may happen at TLC.

WWE Diva Eve Torres arrived out for the main event match on Superstars.

Eve vs. Alicia Fox

Eve had the early advantage but missed on a mule kick from the corner, allowing Fox to slam her to the mat. Moments later, Fox put Eve in a headlock down on the mat then kneed her in the back. Michael Cole opened the show to welcome fans to the brand new Amyway Center in Orlando, FL. They showed still images from last night's Survivor Series main event, with Lawler saying Cena counted the pinfall for Orton, to give him the win. Lawler said due to his actions he was fired.

Nexus leader Wade Barrett arrived out to the stage alone, but then the rest of his Nexus members came out as well to head to the ring. Barrett spoke on the mic regarding last night's main event, but the fans kept drowning him out with "You suck" chants, jeers and boos. Barrett said last night he didn't have a chance at winning the WWE Title, because John Cena was biased from the beginning. Barrett noted that no official has ever been allowed to put his hands on a competitor, but Cena did so last night when he distracted him and pushed him into an RKO. Barrett called last night's match unjust and demanded another WWE Title match against Orton, this time with a neutral referee.

The Raw GM sent another email with the lights blinking. Cole got up to go read from the podium at the laptop. The GM said there is some validity to what Barrett is saying, so Barrett will face Orton for the title tonight. Barrett said he was highly appreciative of the decision by the GM, then said in anticipation of that announcement he already decided to allow Cena to be on Raw tonight. Barrett said he wants Cena to say his final words to the WWE Universe. Wade said he'll enjoy hearing Cena's final words as much as he enjoys becoming WWE Champion.

Lawler was surprised at the announcements and asked Cole to confirm the GM's email. Cole did so, and said he just received word that Cena would in fact be on Raw.

A commercial aired to promote next Monday's episode of Raw which will be a special 3-hour "King of the Ring" tournament show from Philadelphia, PA.

Michael Cole told Jerry Lawler he had a special announcement for him. Cole stood up and got on the mic to announce there is a new member of the Raw broadcast team, CM Punk. Punk arrived to ringside to greet Cole and Lawler, then said he's part of the Raw broadcast team for the foreseeable future.

R-Truth vs. Sheamus
King of the Ring Qualifying Match

Truth arrived out with Eve Torres, and Truth was doing his old theme song "What's Up?" instead of "Crunk." Michael Cole said this will be one of four qualifying KOTR matches.

Right before a commercial break, Truth landed a high kick on Sheamus. The Celtic Warrior rolled to the outside and slammed his fists on the announce table, then kicked it a few times before commercial.

When Raw returned, Sheamus had the advantage and kept Truth down with an arm submission hold. Truth finally got to his feet and hit a jawbreaker on Sheamus. Truth had momentum with multiple clotheslines to take down Sheamus. However, Sheamus caught him with an elbow as he rushed him in the corner. Moments later, Truth had a hip toss for a near fall. Later still, Truth landed an impressive missile dropkick from the corner for yet another near fall.

In the closing moments though, Truth went for a move but Sheamus countered to pin him down. Truth barely escaped it, but as he got up, Sheamus came back with the Brogh kick. Sheamus waited for several moments then went for the Irish Cross. He tossed Truth across the ring and then made the winning pin.

Winner: Sheamus wins via pinfall over R-Truth to qualify for the 2010 King of the Ring Tournament.

Michelle McCool and Layla were shown walking to get into the arena. A security staff stopped them as they entered saying this was the entrance for Raw superstars. Michelle McCool told him to check his list for her name, and the security guard asked how it was spelled, then kept saying it wasn't on the list. McCool and Layla started yelling at the guy until Natalya showed up next to him. He asked Natalya if she knew them and she said never saw them before. Natalya walked off as the security guard made LayCool go back outside.

Santino was backstage with Kozlov having drinks. Santino said they were so close to winning the tag titles last night and it was so close he could taste it. Kozlov said they'll capture them tomorrow. Santino said tomorrow's never guaranteed then started saying he was so depressed and wondered if anything could ever make him feel better. Just then some guitar music started up and Santino went over to see Tamina strumming a guitar in a chair. She started singing a song to him which made Santino pucker up his lips. Tamina gave him a strong kiss, then got up and gave him the "call me" sign. Santino fell back into his chair holding his chest.

They showed Orton lacing up his boots in the locker room when Josh Matthews came in to interview him. Matthews asked if Orton can beat Barrett again tonight like he did last night. Orton said he respects Cena for calling the match down the middle last night, even if they were never best of friends. Orton then guaranteed Barrett won't leave the arena with the WWE Championship.

Cole and Lawler talked about how they just saw that Cena has arrived to the arena. Lawler said it must be some sort of trap by Barrett bringing Cena here. Justin Roberts introduced John Cena to the ovation of the Orlando crowd, with Cena's full theme music and him rushing to the ring in his usual energetic way.

Cena said if he's going to go out it's gonna be this way, not with a ref shirt on or carrying someone's bags. He talked about how before he ever got this WWE job he was living in his car, cleaning toilets. Cena said he respects every person who's allowed him to be in the WWE today like Stone Cold, HHH, The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels. He said his goal was for each of those guys to be able to look him in the eye and say "kid you're alright." Cena talked about how being with WWE was living out a fantasy, so what Nexus did to him for the past two months won't ruin the greatest nine years of his life.

Cena started talking about his family and how they've always been patient. He talked about how he'll go to West Newberry after tonight to see his mom for her birthday and congratulate his brother Matt on his recent birth. Cena became a bit emotional and teary during this part of the speech. Cena said if he's going to go out he's going to do it right. He told all the ladies and kids in the crowd to chant "Let's Go Cena" and all the guys over 18 to chant "Cena Sucks." He stood back and admired the chants, with the men sounding considerably louder.

Cena said the chants were beautiful. He then had advice for former boss, Wade Barrett. He told him to stop trying to take shortcuts and the easy way out. He said the fans will give him everything if he gives them everything in return. Cena said to the camera "Wade, karma's a bitch." He said he'll cut the thank you list down to one very important mention - the WWE Universe. He thanked them for showing up, standing up for WWE and letting him share his life with them for 9 years. Cena finished the speech then said "let's go home." He got out of the ring and walked up the ramp to the top of the stage, kissed his dog tag and gave the crowd a salute.

The commentators were silent as they showed peoples' reactions in the crowd. They showed Cena walking backstage with a whole bunch of WWE superstars, divas and workers applauding him. Cena got to the end of the line and Randy Orton arrived out. Cena put out his hand and Orton shook his hand then gave Cena a hug and smile. Cena started to walk off towards the exit of the arena. Barrett emerged on camera to watch Cena leave and did the "U Cant C Me" taunt then smirked and walked off.

Maryse was at ringside for Dibiase. As Daniel Bryan was making his way to the ring Brie Bella came rushing down the ramp behind him. Brie grabbed Bryan by the arm and walked him to the ring. Cole was shocked by this. CM Punk called Brie a "4" at best.

Late in the match, Dibiase used a huge powerbomb style slam to put Bryan on the mat. Dibiase went for the cover, but Bryan reversed at 2. He got into position for the Labelle Lock, locking it in on Ted Dibiase. Dibiase soon tapped out. Cole said that Bryan will now join Ezekiel Jackson and Sheamus in the KOTR tournament.

A group of referees arrived out to get them away from Orton. They managed to get Nexus up to the top of the stage away from Orton. Orton appeared to have hurt his knee and needed help standing up. Suddenly, Husky Harris rushed down and kicked Orton hard in the knee causing him to fall to the ramp holding his knee. Orton was livid down on the ramp as the ref asked if he was OK. Raw went to commercial break.

When Raw returned, Barrett made his way to the ring smiling. He was without Nexus this time and Cole said the Raw GM had banned them from ringside. CM Punk said the damage was already done to Randy Orton. Barrett was discussing something in the ring with the referee who seemed to be talking about Orton's knee issue. Barrett was trying to say Orton would forfeit if he didn't show up. Orton's theme music started up though and he eventually started limping out from backstage.

Barrett took full advantage of Orton's predicament, focusing on the hurt knee and continually attacking it. He applied a submission to try to wear it down, but Orton managed to kick Barrett away. Wade rushed at him, but Orton grabbed him and hit a backbreaker. Moments later though, Barrett was back in control and picked up Orton to hit the finisher, The Wasteland. Barrett seemed to have the winning pinfall as he got down for the victory cover. However before the ref could complete the 1-2-3, John Cena had rushed back into the building and was ringside to yank the ref out of the ring!
