ECW Recap from East Rutherford, NJ:

ECW on SyFy kicked off with a promo video about the ECW Homecoming tournament. On tonight's show two former ECW stars make their returns to compete for a shot at Christian's ECW title. Former ECW Champion Matt Hardy and current Raw superstar Evan Bourne both make their way back to the Land of Extreme.

From the Izod Center,Josh Matthews welcomed fans to the show right after the pyro went off, stating that tonight more superstars will attempt to qualify for ECW Homecoming. Savannah was in the ring to introduce the ECW Champion, Christian. Christian came down to take a seat with the commentary team and told Byron Saxton how great it was to tell his family he's met Bryan Gumbel. Matt Hardy came out for the opening match.

Matt Hardy vs. Finlay
ECW Homecoming Qualifying Match

Josh Matthews reminded fans that eight men will qualify for ECW Homecoming Finale in 2 weeks. Four have already qualified: Kane, Vance Archer, Yoshi Tatsu and Ezekiel Jackson.

Finlay took advantage of Matt Hardy tweaking a leg or knee injury, and continued to target it. The ref nearly stopped the match due to the injury in the early going. Finlay slammed Hardy hard against the ropes, legs first to exploit the injury then used submission holds on the mat. Matt got to his feet and started punching away at Finlay, but eventually the Irishmen kicked him in the hurt leg to knock him back down.

In the late stages of the match, Matt went for a moonsault off the corner, but Finlay moved out of the way. Finlay had a near fall after Matt hurt his left knee yet again. He stood Hardy up for a move, but Matt did his Twist of Fate finisher out of nowhere to win it.

Christian said he's ready for whomever might make the final match to face him at Royal Rumble. Five spots are know decided.

Winner: Matt Hardy wins via pinfall over Finlay to advance to the ECW Homecoming Finale.

Later tonight, two former ECW stars, Evan Bourne and Mike Knox compete for the sixth ECW Homecoming spot.

Zack Ryder was walking backstage with his arm around Rosa Mendes laughing. Ryder spotted Tommmy Dreamer hanging out, and asked him why he's still at ECW. Ryder suggested that Dreamer should just hang it up already. Dreamer told Ryder he's sick of losing to guys like Ryder each and every week. Dreamer grabbed Ryder by the collar and told him if he wants him out of ECW so bad, he can try to beat him tonight. Dreamer said if Ryder beats him, he'll leave ECW forever. Ryder said it's on.

Ezekiel Jackson made his way down to the ring. They showed highlights from his match 2 weeks ago in the ECW Homecoming against Vladimir Kozlov. William Regal was ringside and tripped Kozlov, allowing Jackson to win by pinfall. After the match, Jackson and Regal attacked Kozlov outside the ring.

Jackson spoke in the ring about how Vladimir Kozlov betrayed Jackson and Regal by being a weak link in their powerful chain. Jackson said their goal was to dominate ECW, but Vlad became a liability. As Ezekiel quoted the book of Ezekiel and continued to speak, Vlad's music hit and he came to the ring. The two behemoths began to battle. Vladimir sustained some strikes then knocked Jackson over the top rope. Kozlov dared Jackson to get back in there with him. Jackson chuckled from the ramp telling Kozlov "you're gonna get it!"

Tommy Dreamer was in a lockerroom backstage getting ready. Christian came in to ask what was up. Christian asked Dreamer if he's sure that he really wants to fight in the match tonight against Ryder. Dreamer said he's got something to prove again, just like Christian did in returning to win the ECW title. Christian said no matter what happens tonight, Dreamer will be the heart of ECW. Dreamer said he still wants a rematch against Christian for the ECW title. Dreamer brushed back some tears as Christian left.

Evan Bourne vs. Mike Knox
ECW Homecoming Qualifying Match

The commentators noted that Knox studies Kinesiology which involves taking apart the human body and putting it back together.

Early on, Knox and Bourne spilled to the outside, Both guys were slow to get up as the ref counted them out. Knox threw Bourne into the crowd barricade hard, then got back in the ring. Bourne managed to just beat the count and get back in the ring, but Knox was in control and began to pick him apart.

Bourne was able to counter Knox on a standing suplex and began using his quick kicks. Bourne went against the ropes but Knox did his lateral press to take him down for a near fall. Bourne grabbed the bottom rope to break it. From there, Bourne got momentum as he avoided a splash by Knox, then kneed him in the face. Bourne went to the corner ropes for a high risk move with Knox getting up to trip him down. Bourne jumped but Knox caught him on the shoulder. Bourne used his weight to get over the top rope onto the apron. Bourne used a high kick to Knox' head to knock him to the mat, then climbed onto the corner ropes for the Shooting Starpress to win it.

Winner: Evan Bourne wins via pinfall over Mike Knox to advance to the ECW Homecoming Finale.

There's now just two spots left for ECW Homecoming. Byron Saxton said on next week's ECW three more former ECW champions return to compete for those spots: Mark Henry, Chavo Guerrero and CM Punk.

ECW GM TIffany wished Tommy Dreamer good luck in his match tonight. Dreamer began making his way down the hall en route to the main vent match.

ECW returned with a look back at last night's Raw. The focus was the rematch between John Cena and Sheamus for the WWE Title. Sheamus told Cena the final image on Raw for 2009 will be Sheamus standing tall oabove Cena holding the title. Both men attacked one another during the program to try to gain an edge. In the main event, Cena seemed to be in control and had Sheamus up for the Attitude Adjustment, but Sheamus grabbed the top rope. Cena yanked Sheamus away, but as he did so, Sheamus grabbed the ref and pushed him down with a free arm. Cena hit the Attitude Adjustment, but it was too late as the ref called for a DQ. Cena ran up the ramp and grabbed Sheamus to bring back to the ring. However, back in the ring, Sheamus dodged Cena's attack and kicked him in the face twice. Raw ended with Sheamus putting a foot on Cena's throat, before heading up the ramp to show off his WWE title.

Josh Matthews and Byron Saxton discussed Cena's "hustle, loyalty, respect" mantra, with Saxton saying Sheamus ended 2009 on quite a high note. Matthews reminded fans of the biggest news of the century: Bret "the Hitman" Hart will guest host the first Raw of 2010.

Backstage, Yoshi Tatshu was trying to teach Goldust how to say "you're welcome" in Japanese. Goldust kept getting it wrong, so Yoshi tried to teach him how to say something easier. The new ECW tag team Croft and Baretta came walking up and cockily asked how to say "future WWE tag team champions" in Japanese. They said they hoped Tommy Dreamer loses tonight and then Goldust & Yoshi Tatsu leave also. Goldust told them to back off then said something in Japanese. Yoshi laughed and said "good one" leaving Croft and Baretta wondering what they said. One of them said he knew Japanese and Goldust just said he's scared of them.

Tommy Dreamer vs. Zack Ryder

Ryder was accompanied to the ring by girlfriend Rosa Mendes. Early on, both men used arm tosses to throw each other down to the mat. Dreamer tried to keep Ryder down in an armbar hold, but Ryder got up and tried to take Dreamer corner to corner. Instead, Dreamer got a bulldog out of the corner for a near fall. Dreamer hit a powerslam out of the other corner as Ryder tried to jump over him. He hit a flapjack style reverse slam, and Ryder rolled to the outside. Dreamer jumped out onto Ryder and Rosa came over to protect her man. She yelled at Dreamer and Ryder was able to get a punch in, before shoving Dreamer to the ringpost. ECW took a break as Ryder rolled Dreamer back into the ring.

Back from commercial, Ryder was in control using an arm hold to keep Dreamer down. Saxton and Matthews kept questioning if it was wise for Dreamer to offer to leave ECW forever if he lost. Ryder countered Dreamer's comeback attempt for a near fall, then started hammering away on his head. He continued the onslaught by tossing Dreamer shoulder first into the corner ringpost. Ryder went for a running kick move at Dreamer in the corner, allowing Dreamer to get back up and hit a neckbreaker. From there he did a Flapjack to slam Ryder face first, then a Powerbomb style move for a near fall.

Towards the closing moments of the match, Dreamer had Ryder hung upside down in the corner and did his running dropkick, followed by the finisher DDT. He scored the pinfall but the ref noted that Ryder had a foot under the bottom rope. Dreamer was shocked that he hadn't won it. The ref told him to continue the match. Dreamer yanked Ryder away from the ropes then tried for another fall. Ryder reversed for a pin of his own, but Dreamer kicked out. In the process, Dreamer landed on top of the ref who started to hold the back of his neck/head. Dreamer sat Ryder up on the corner, then climbed up with him. He went for a suplex, but Ryder turned it around from the air to do a lateral press on top of Dreamer for the winning pinfall. Dreamer sat up looking dejected over the loss which sends him out of ECW forever.

Winner: Zack Ryder wins via pinfall. Tommy Dreamer agrees to leave ECW forever.

Following the loss which would retire Dreamer from ECW/WWE, the ECW original got on the mic for a farewell speech. He recalled sitting in this very arena a long time ago to watch Piper's Pit by Roddy Piper. Dreamer thanked all of the members of the original ECW, saying it was his dream since age 9 to be a wrestler. He said if you have a passion for what you want to do, you can accomplish your dreams anywhere. Dreamer fought back tears saying he told himself not to cry.

Dreamer told the WWE Universe they have been like his family. He talked about his real family, and his daughters, as the camera showed a shot of his wife Beulah in the front row holding their daughters. Dreamer was in tears, and said life is about getting back up whenever you get knocked down. He thanked the fans for their support, before taking his shirt off to put down on the mat. Dreamer took his daughters from the front row in his arms and carried them up the ramp. They all waved to the camera and crowd, before Dreamer did his infamous entrance yelling pose on stage. Dreamer disappeared backstage with his daughters to close out the final ECW of 2009.

WWE Superstars Recap 12.24.09

Here is the full recap of WWE Superstars which aired 12/24/09 (Christmas eve) on WGN America. After the opening pyro display went off, ECW's Josh Matthews welcomed fans to the show, wishing a happy holiday season to all. Ezekiel Jackson came out for the opening match.

Vladimir Kozlov vs. Ezekiel Jackson

ECW commentators Matthews and Byron Saxon looked at footage from two weeks ago, when Kozlov and Jackson fought in their ECW Homecoming match. William Regal interfered to cost Kozlov the match, and afterward, Regal and Jackson beat up Kozlov outside the ring.

William Regal wasn't around for tonight's match, and according to Matthews he was attending to an important "business matter". Not long into the match, Jackson tackled Kozlov through the ropes to the outside. From there, Kozlov got up first and started beating on Jackson, then kicked him hard into the crowd barrier. He continued stomping on Jackson, but Jackson got up and shoved him into the steel post. Kozlov recovered and tackled Jackson back down to pummel him. As they were continuing to battle outside, the ref kept counting, and eventually it was ruled a double countout.

Kozlov yelled at Jackson to get back in the ring with him. Jackson just backed up the ramp smirking about it, saving the fight for another day.

Winner: Ezekiel Jackson and Vladimir Kozlov fought to a double countout.

Still to come is tonight's main event from Smackdown, featuring Kane versus Mike Knox.

Michael Cole and Lawler also reminded fans that on Monday Night Raw, Timbaland will be guest host in Hartford, CT.

Primo vs. Chavo Guerrero

After Chavo controlled things for a bit of this match, Primo made his comeback. After a backflip on the mat, he ran at Chavo and did a Side Russian legsweep. Chavo kicked out of the pin at 2, so Primo went up top for a springboard move off the top rope. Chavo did a dropkick mid-air to take Primo down. Chavo taunted the crowd, then waited for Primo to get up so he could do the Tres Amigos suplex. Primo countered the third attempted suplex for a pinfall. Chavo kicked out, and then Primo backdropped him. Primo started to kick and punch Chavo then picked him up for a slam. Chavo held onto the ropes and managed to drop out of the ring, pulling Primo against the top rope. Chavo quickly got up on the corner for the Frogsplash to win it.

Winner: Chavo Guerrero wins via pinfall over Primo.

Upon WWE Superstars' return, they aired a promotional video about the 2009 WWE Tribute to the Troops, which showcased the troops, and WWE's visit to Iraq for their sports entertainment show.

The Intercontinental Champion Drew McIntyre came out from backstage with his championship belt, dressed up in a suit and tie. Smackdown's commentators Matt Striker and Todd Grisham noted how we all have much to be thankful for during the holidays. Drew McIntyre is thankful for his new title. They showed off still images from the TLC PPV match where McIntyre raked Morrison in the eye with a thumb to win the belt.

McIntyre brought a microphone into the ring to cut a promo, about how Mr. McMahon saw his potential when he signed him to Smackdown. McIntyre bragged about being the new Intercontinental champ. McIntyre said Mr. McMahon was right, and everything he said he would do, he has done. As McIntyre continued his speech, he was interrupted by John Morrison's theme music. Morrison came down to the ring for a confrontation. Morrison congratulated McIntyre about winning the title and how he and Mr. McMahon have mapped the future out.

Morrison asked McIntyre if he heard about New Year's Day, then informed him that he is getting his rematch then on Smackdown, thanks to Teddy Long. McIntyre told him to celebrate it up on New Year's Eve, because on New Year's day his party is over. Morrison asked McIntyre if he's ever been to a party, then said nobody would ever party with McIntyre, because they can't understand a word he says. Morrison said after the match, McIntyre can shut his mouth. Morrison said on New Year's day, he will beat McIntyre for the IC title. McIntyre shrugged it off then went to strike Morrison. Instead, Morrison got in the first shots. He ended up avoiding McIntyre as he tried to spear him in the corner, causing Drew to hit the post shoulder first. With Drew down on the mat, Morrison did the Starship Pain on him, then went over and held up the IC belt before tossing it onto McIntyre.

Kane was shown intently walking backstage, ready for the main event against Mike Knox.

When WWE Superstars returned, they showed a highlight video of John Cena and his efforts with the Armed Forces and Tribute to the Troops. Cena's speech to the troops was played over the highlight clips from overseas.

As Kane got up on the apron, he grabbed Knox for a chokeslam, but instead Knox dropped his weight so Kane hit the top rope throat first. Knox followed with a big boot to send Kane off the apron.

Knox landed a big chop move on Kane from the corner ropes. Knox began unloading on Kane in the corner, then whipped him to the opposite. With Kane down, Knox did a huge splash for a near fall. Knox locked a submission hold in on the mat. Kane was able to stand up and slam Knox back to the mat, but after a moment both guys got up and Knox booted Kane back down.

Kane started to take control with some hard uppercut shots to Knox, then a sidewalk slam out of the corner. Kane got a 2 count out of that deal. Kane climbed to the top rope for his clothesline to take Knox down for another near fall. Knox got his shoulder up at 2 1/2. Knox avoided a charge in the corner, then came back to connect on a cross body block for a near fall of his own. Both men got up on the corner for a battle, with Knox shoving Kane down. Knox made a jump at Kane, but went right into the "Christmas Eve" Chokeslam. Kane is now 3-0 in the recent feud.

Shad fought back against Smith, but as the ref's attention was away, Kidd did a kick to Shad's back from the apron. Mysterio Intercontinental Title Situation

With the news just a few days ago that Rey Mysterio will be receiving a 30 day suspension starting next week, fans may be wondering what will become of his championship status or Breaking Point match. It would seem at this point that the title will somehow be moved off him due to the suspension, much like it was moved off Jeff Hardy a year or so ago when he was suspended. In the past, certain wrestlers have appeared at one TV show taping or PPV despite their suspension. In this case, it's questionable whether Rey will do that with Breaking Point.

My best guess is we're going to either see Ziggler win the title on Smackdown next Tuesday, or we'll see another match happen on Smackdown to determine another contender for Rey's title. Of course if it's the second option, WWE will have to explain how the title was vacated. I still think we'll get an Intercontinental Title match at Breaking Point with Ziggler as championg going in or coming out of the PPV.

So the likely opponent we'll see for the IC title at Breaking Point? Well we may see a Mike Knox vs. Finlay match on Smackdown. They could also hold a mini tournament and give Ziggler a bye for the first round. I'd venture that Kane and John Morrison would make other good contenders as well as Matt Hardy. It'd be great to see a Morrison vs. Ziggler match for Breaking Point, so let's hope it goes that direction, rather than Ziggler-Finlay.

Burchill rolled to the outside of the ring to recover. Helms went to collect him and put him on the apron for a suplex move. Helms got back in the ring ready to do his Shining Wizard, but as he went for the suplex, Katie Lea held Burchill's leg from outside. Helms began to complain to the ref about it, and that allowed Burchill to hit a quick move on Helms, followed by the rollup pin.

Winner: Paul Burchill wins via pinfall over Hurricane Helms.

Finlay vs. Mike Knox vs. Dolph Ziggler
Triple Threat Match

This match would determine a #1 Contender for the Intercontinental Title at Breaking Point PPV. All three men intensely battled in and out of the ring. During one segment, Finlay and Knox fought outside the ring. Ziggler tried the baseball slide dropkick with Finlay using the apron cover to catch him, then punched him. Knox came over and leveled Finlay, then rolled Ziggler into the ring. Finlay rushed in and tried a quick pin on Ziggler, with Knox breaking it up. Ziggler then dropkicked Knox outside so he could fight Finlay one on one inside the ring. The two wrestlers traded punches, with Finlay and Ziggler eventually fighting on the top rope. Knox was back in and put Finlay in an Electric Chair to take him down. Ziggler went for a leg drop off the top rope, but Finlay avoided it.

As the action continued later on, all three men were fighting in the ring. Ziggler hit a move on Knox as Finlay hit a rolling thunder on Ziggler. Finlay went after Knox with Zigler punching Finlay. Ziggler sent Finlay to the corner, but missed on his splash attempt. Finlay then went for a submission hold with Knox coming over to boot him in the face. Knox followed with a suplex on Ziggler, but Finlay went to the middle rope and then tackled Knox down for a 2 count pinfall. Knox rolled over and grabbed Finlay's shillaleigh, then swung at Finlay. Finlay ducked the move and kicked Knox then hit his Celtic Cross finisher for a pin. Ziggler rushed over and pulled Finlay off to toss him into the corner ring post, then took the winning pinfall on Mike Knox. At one point, Burchill put a single leg crab on Tatsu, then released it. Yoshi started to slap Burchill and went for a move which Burchill ducked. Burchill knocked Reks on the apron, but as he went back towards Yoshi, Yoshi threw him down. Yoshi made the tag to Reks. Reks came in to explode on offense as he hit several dropkicks on Regal who also tagged in. Yoshi Tatsu and Burchill ended up going to the outside to fight. Back in the ring, Reks tried for a crossbody on Regal, but he Regal was able to reverse it into a small package pinfall.

Winners: William Regal & Paul Burchill win via pinfall over Yoshi Tatsu and Tyler Reks.

Mike Knox vs. Rey Mysterio

Dolph Ziggler came down to ringside to provide guest commentary for the fight. At one point in the match, Mike Knox hit a serious crossbody on Rey, nearly scoring the winning pinfall. Rey Mysterio made a comeback and gained control, eventually hitting his trademark 619. Rey got onto the apron to prepare for the final springboard move, but Dolph Ziggler yanked him down. Smackdown Recap from Baltimore, MD:

As Smackdown opened, highlight footage from Night of Champions replayed Jeff winning the World Heavyweight Title from CM Punk. Jeff Hardy was introduced to the crowd as the new champion, and came to the ring to speak. Jeff talked about this being a great moment for him, and thanked all those who supported him. He added that CM Punk was trying to force his lifestyle down everyone's throats, but they said no to him. Jeff said he was high on being the Champion for the fans. He also added that Punk would be using his rematch clause on whoever is the champion after tonight. Jeff then hyped his match with John Morrison for the title later on, and Cryme Tyme came to the ring for the first match of Smackdown.

Cryme Tyme vs. The Hart Dynasty

The winner of this match gets to faceChris Jericho & Big Show at SummerSlam 2009 for the Unified Tag Team Titles. Late in the match, JTG had control and hit a backbreaker on Kidd in the ring, but Smith rushed in to break up the pin attempt. Shad came in to take Smith to the outside, and jumped from the apron to clothesline Smith down. Back in the ring, JTG hit the Shoutout finisher to collect the win. Cryme Tyme started to celebrate, but it was interrupted when Jericho and Show made their way to the ramp.

Jericho told Cryme Tyme to enjoy their moment of victory because it would be all downhill from there. Cryme Tyme reminded them about what happened when Shaq was there on Raw. They also called Jericho "Christina" and said they'd be leaving Summerslam as the new champs. Jericho and Show told Cryme Tyme to enjoy their party with the criminals because at Summerslam the party will be over.

Winners: Cryme Tyme wins via pinfall over The Hart Dynasty

Melina & Eve vs. Michelle McCool & Layla

In this fast paced divas match, Eve managed to escape an early sleeper hold by Michelle McCool. They both made tags to their partners, and Melina came in to take control against Layla. Melina was about to use a reverse DDT on Layla, until Michelle rushed into the ring to boot her in the face. Eve rushed in to take Michelle outside to the floor. Out on the floor, Michelle kicked Eve in the face to knock her down. McCool got back to tag Layla and tried to put the Faithbreaker on Melina. Melina reversed it and hit her finisher for the win.

Winners: Melina & Eve win via pinfall over Michelle McCool & Layla.

Josh Matthews interviewed CM Punk backstage about losing his title to Jeff Hardy. Punk said he thought it was an upset, and that the better man didn't win the match. Punk said he wished more people were straight edge and told Jeff to enjoy his moment. Punk said he'd take on the winner of Jeff versus Morrison for the title.

Dolph Ziggler was shown backstage with Maria getting ready for his upcoming match.

Rey Mysterio & Finlay b. Dolph Ziggler & Mike Knox

After Mysterio went for a 619 in this match on Knox, Knox avoided it, but Rey kicked him and tagged in Finlay. Finlay came in with serious momentum as he took Knox down several times. Finlay was able to kick Knox when Knox charged at him in the corner. But moments later, Knox was able to boot kick Finlay down. Finlay had an apparent leg injury which Knox and Ziggler both began to target as they played "keep away" with Finlay.

Ziggler and Knox continually tagged in and out. The duo worked to prevent Finlay from a tag for a good bit of time, until Finlay escaped Ziggler to finally tag Rey in. Rey was able to use his fast pace offense to gain control against Ziggler, eventually hitting 619. Knox came in to break up Rey's pin after his splash move on Ziggler. Finlay rushed in to clothesline Knox out of the ring. Ziggler started to attack Finlay from behind, so Rey tried to roll up Ziggler for a pin. With Ziggler still on his feet, Finlay hit an elbow on him to take him down into Rey's rollup pin.

Winners: Rey Mysterio & Finlay win via pinfall over Dolph Ziggler & Mike Knox.

Josh Matthews interviewed a confident John Morrison backstage who vowed to win the World Heavyweight Title in his match tonight.

The Great Khali and Ranjin Singh were shown walking backstage on their way out for the next match.

The Great Khali vs. Charlie Haas

Early on, Charlie Haas gave his best attempt to strike away at his larger opponent. That's all there was for his offense though, as Khali started to pulverize Haas. Khali was ready to deliver his finisher, but all of a sudden Kane snuck into the ring. Khali turned around and Kane escaped out of the ring. Kane grabbed Ranjin Singh as his hostage and started to go up the aisle. Khali came out to chase Kane, causing Kane to drop Singh at the bottom of the ramp. Khali checked on Singh while Kane was up at the top of the ramp staring at Khali.

Winner: The match ended in a no contest/draw when Kane interfered.

Backstage, both John Morrison and Jeff Hardy were shown getting ready for their main event match.

Jeff Hardy vs. John Morrison
World Heavyweight Championship

Morrison and Hardy's battle for the World Heavyweight title lasted over 20 minutes in a free TV classic! The match included some great offensive strikes including a standing moonsault by Morrison onto Jeff for a pinfall attempt. As things wound down, Morrison shoved Jeff into the corner, and Jeff tried for Whisper in the Wind but missed it. Morrison managed to gain the advantage and tossed Jeff to the corner, to connect on a flying heel kick. After a failed pinfall, Morrison scored some more moves and went for Moonlight Drive. Jeff reversed it into a suplex and then connected on a Swanton Bomb off the corner. Morrison somehow kicked out of it. The two continued their battle, with Morrison eventually run at Jeff in the corner to try for Starship Pain. Jeff put his legs up to block it, then hit a Twist of Fate on Morrison. After a second Swanton Bomb, Jeff was finally able to score the winning pinfall.

After the match, CM Punk's music came on and Punk came to the ring to applaud Jeff's win. Punk raised up Jeff's hand, pretending to congratulate him. Punk got on the mic to start a promo, but was faking it and then punched Jeff in the face. From there, Punk continued to beat away on Jeff outside the ring, and threw him into the crowd barrier. CM Punk kept beating on Hardy near the announce table. Punk tore his shirt off and started walking away, but then came back to toss Jeff over the announcers table. Punk got on the mic to tell everyone to watch next week when he reclaims the World Heavyweight Title.

Winner: Jeff Hardy wins via pinfall over John Morrison to retain the World Heavyweight Title.

Mike Knox in Elimination Chamber

This past Sunday, WWE had a "pre-Superbowl" house show in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at which there was a six man over-the-top-rope battle royal. The Battle Royal featured Raw participants Cody Rhodes, Ted Dibiase, Shad & JTG of Cryme Tyme, Dolph Ziggler and Mike Knox, with the winner qualifying for the No Way Out Elimination Chamber. Mike Knox defeated his other 5 opponents and will now be part of the Chamber facing his current feud Rey Mysterio. There's just one final spot for the match left.

Monday night Raw on 2/2/09 should decide the sixth and final spot for the No Way Out Elimination Chamber. It seems like Shawn Michaels and JBL are amongst the final 2 contenders to compete for it. There aren't too many names left on Raw's roster, but they could schedule another match like the house show had with several wrestlers competing.

Currently at No Way Out, John Cena will defend his World Heavyweight Title against Kofi Kingston, Rey Mysterio, Chris Jericho, Mike Knox and the final contender to be named. The elimination Chamber will feature a steel structure closed down around the ring, with wrestlers locked into seperate cages inside the apparatus. Two men begin the match with each wrestler added in intervals. The match stays in the steel structure for the most part and contenders will eliminate their opponents by pinfall or submission. This will continue until just one man remains in that Chamber and he will be the World Heavyweight Champion. John Cena doesn't necessarily have to be the final man pinned to lose his title, so it should make for an interesting battle!

Raw Preview 12.01.08

Last week's Raw saw the start of a new era along with the new World Heavyweight Champion. The champ, John Cena, made his return to the show in triumphant and dramatic fashion, as he lead fans into the arena from backstage. Cena then made his way into the ring to confront Chris Jericho about his comments regarding the fans and Cena. In Cena's speech he reminded Jericho that WWE wouldn't be there if it weren't for the loyalty of the fans. Jericho seemed to be leaving the ring to avoid a confrontation with Cena. Cena's speech seemed to stir up Jericho, but even more so, it riled up John Cena. As Jericho got back into the ring, Cena went on a rampage, attacking the former champ and leaving him down on the mat after a STFU. Cena looks to be back and better than ever as he carries the World Heavyweight title. However, Acting General Manager, Stephanie McMahon, ordered Kane to take on Cena in a non-title bout for tonight's show. How will Cena fare against the vicious Big Red Machine? Will Jericho make an appearance during the match?

As for Jericho, he managed to earn the #1 Contender's spot for the title. Jericho managed to defeat Randy Orton and Batista in a Triple Threat match. Jericho seemed to steal the victory away from Batista at the last moment, deliverng a dropkick that sent Batista off his pin of Randy Orton. Jericho took the pin, and now heads to Armageddon in just a few weeks to face the champ. Will Jericho be able to regain the title he had just a week or so ago? Will Batista and Orton continue with their feud on tonight's episode of Raw?

Raw also continues to host a tournament for the prized Intercontinental title. Rey Mysterio will be facing The Miz this week in a first round matchup. The Miz and Morrison continue to be one of the WWE's hottest tag teams, always finding clever ways to win. Morrison may factor into Miz's match on Raw. Last week, Mysterio attempted to deliver an interview backstage, but Mike Knox came in to interrupt. Knox stared down Mysterio in an attempt to intimidate the smaller superstar. In the previous week, Knox attacked an already injured Evan Bourne, as well as Kofi Kingston. William Regal also has been known to make his presence known during these matches. Will John Morrison, Regal or Knox be ringside to cause mayhem during Mysterio's match? Who will advance to the next round of the Intercontinental title tournament?

Catch Raw tonight at 9PM EST on USA for all the action!

Cena Returning, Knox Moving to Raw

According to the latest promo video pieces on Monday Night Raw, John Cena's headed back from his neck surgery and rehab within a month's time. Cena will be back just in time for the 2008 Survivor Series, but there's no official word on how he'll be involved in the PPV. Will he be wrestling, or will he be a guest at the PPV? You'd have to believe Cena will have unfinished business with Batista once he gets back. Batista didn't purposely hurt Cena, but most fans knew one battle between the two superstars wouldn't be enough. Cena will be in line for the World Heavyweight title and most likely resume his feud with the Animal. Expect an announcement soon from Raw GM Mike Adamle regarding the title match at Survivor Series.

Another promo piece recently show on Raw was for ECW superstar Mike Knox. Knox seems to be defecting to Raw after being a maninstay on ECW for some time now. Most recently, Knox was involved in a feud with Finlay, but now all of a sudden he's moving to Raw. These sorts of unexplained moves make the annual WWE Drafts seem even less important, and fail to create true buzz for a superstar. How about a storyline where Knox is disgruntled with his competition or lack of a title shot on ECW? Or a trade where some unused star on Raw is sent to ECW? For example, Snitsky and Knox seem interchangeable. No reason Snitsky can't take Knox' role on the ECW roster. Knox seemed capable of being a heel involved in the ECW title chase, besides Mark Henry, yet he wasn't used in that capacity so much. So maybe Knox becomes a Snitsky clone on Raw, or possibly he gets a boost and provides a new foe for Batista while he awaits his next battle against John Cena.

ECW Recap 09.30.08

ECW Recap from Green Bay, WI:

ECW GM Theodore Long was in the ring with Tiffany to open the show. Tiffany introduced Teddy Long to the crowd, then introduced ECW champ Matt Hardy, who made his way down to the ring. Matt got into the ring and shook hands with Teddy and Tiffany. Next, Tiffany introduced Mark Henry along with Tony Atlas, and the duo walked intently down to the ring. Mark Henry had a mic in hand and refused to shake Tiffany's hand. Teddy spoke saying he wanted to bring Henry and Hardy face to face one last time before No Mercy to issue any comments they wanted to.

Mark Henry told Matt he's got a tough week ahead of him, because he not only has the No Mercy title fight, but also a Triple Threat Champions match on Smackdown in a few days. Matt told Mark he plans to represent ECW proudly. Henry quipped that Matt didn't beat him for his ECW title, but come Sunday he'll right all the wrongs. Matt said he welcomes challenges, and plans to represent all of the fans and ECW superstars. Henry and Hardy were getting into a confrontation, but just then Morrison and Miz came out to the ramp to interrupt.

Morrison and Miz confronted Teddy about making them go against each other last week. Morrison said they want to face Bourne and Ortiz in a tag match tonight after what Ortiz did last week. Teddy Long said tonight they can team up with Mark Henry to take on Bourne, Ortiz and ECW Champ Matt Hardy.

Lenny Lane vs. Jack Swagger

Swagger was all business in this match, giving Lane barely any chance to attack. With Lane on the mat, Swagger kicked him in the gut hard. As Lane got up he got in a few punches and kicks, but that was it. Swagger fought back then came off the ropes to knee Lane in the face. Swagger used his Powerbomb move to finish off Lane.

After the victory, Swagger grabbed Lane who was sitting on the apron and hit a neckbreaker on him. Tommy Dreamer ran down to the ring to attack Swagger, but Swagger was quick to escape the ring and back up the ramp smiling.

Winner: Jack Swagger wins via pinfall over Lenny Lane.

Tommy Dreamer vs. Mike Knox

At one point in this contest, Knox was able to chop Dreamer down with a clothesline as he jumped off the corner. Knox slapped a headlock on Dreamer down on the mat to try to wear down the ECW original. Dreamer eventually got to his feet and started to fight back. Knox whipped him to the corner, but Dreamer avoided him when he charged. Dreamer followed with a bulldog, then with Knox down came off the ropes for an elbow drop. Dreamer tried to hoist Knox up on his shoulder, but Knox fought out of it. Dreamer tripped Knox down to the corner, but as Dreamer tried to run at him, Knox moved away and shoved Dreamer shoulder first to the corner ringpost. Knox finished off Dreamer with his twist slam finishing move.

After Knox left Dreamer layed out on the mat, Jack Swagger stormed down to the ring and hit his Powerbomb finisher on Dreamer.

Winner: Mike Knox wins via pinfall over Tommy Dreamer.

A promotional video was shown of Wrestlemania footage from over the years. This Thursday MyNetworkTV will have the Network Broadcast premiere of Wrestlemania 24 on TV. After the video, Grisham and Striker went over the matches for No Mercy including Y2J vs. HBK in a ladder match, Big Show vs. Undertaker, Jeff Hardy vs. Triple H and Mark Henry vs. Matt Hardy.

Evan Bourne, Ricky Ortiz & Matt Hardy vs. John Morrison, The Miz & Mark Henry
Six Man Tag Match

In preparation for their No Mercy ECW title match, Matt Hardy and Mark Henry headed up opposing teams in this six man tag match.

At one point in the match, the heels managed to keep Ortiz isolated from tagging his partners. Morrison repeatedly punched Ortiz in the head, then locked his legs around Ortiz' neck on the mat to wear him down. Ortiz displayed an impressive feat as he was able to stand with Morrison on his shoulders and drop back to the mat. Despite the move, The Miz tagged in and prevented Ortiz from making the tag. Miz worked on Ortiz for a while, then Morrison came back in. Morrison went as far as knocking Matt Hardy off the apron to prevent an Ortiz tag. As Morrison came at Ortiz with a clothesline, Ortiz rolled under it and made the tag to Bourne.

Bourne flew into action as he flipped over the ropes to take Morrison down. Bourne hit a knees to the jaw jump off the corner onto Morrison, but Miz came in to break up the pin attempt. Soon Ortiz, Hardy, Miz, Morrison and Bourne were all in the ring at once. Hardy, Ortiz, Miz all ended taking each other to the outside. In the ring, Mark Henry tagged in and went towards Bourne. Bourne tried to mount an offense, but as he came off the ropes and jumped at Henry, Henry caught him in the air then slammed him down for The World's Strongest Slam.

Winners: The Miz, John Morrison and Mark Henry win via pinfall over Matt Hardy, Evan Bourne & Ricky Ortiz.

Ricky said he has the Ricky O Rally towel in his pocket, then Tiffany took it and put it around her neck saying it feels good.

Finlay vs. Bam Neely

Neely arrived to the ring without Chavo Guerrero after last Friday's incident where Chavo was grabbed by Undertaker backstage on Smackdown.

In tonight's match, Bam was able to gain the upperhand and put Finlay into a Boston Crab submission hold. Hornswoggle came into the corner of the ring with a shilaleigh and Bam saw him from the corner of his eye. Bam got up and grabbed Hornswoggle then tossed him across the ring. As the ref was distracted, Finlay grabbed the shilaleigh and clocked Bam Neely over the skull with it, then took a pinfall.

Winner: Finlay wins via pinfall over Bam Neely.

WWE 24/7 Classics on Demand showed March 23, 1992 tag team fight with Sid Justice & Ric Flair taking on Roddy Pipper and Hulk Hogan. The classic match occurred just before Wrestlemania VIII with Hogan and Piper picking up the victory.

Jim Ross reminded fans that ECW moves to 9PM EST on Sci-Fi starting next Tuesday.

"All Nightmare Long" by Metallica will be the official theme song for the No Mercy 2008 Pay-Per-View.

Chase Stevens vs. Mike Knox

Knox started off taking Stevens to the corner where he attacked until the ref stopped things. Knoz continued to dominate from here, whipping Stevens to the other corner then rushing into him. Knox slammed Stevens to the mat then delivered a solid knee drop into him. Knox delivered a hard righthand, then a serious clothesline. Finally, Knox used his finisher to twist slam Stevens to the mat.

Winner: Mike Knox wins via pinfall over Chase Stevens.

As Knox was heading backstage, Jack Swagger came out from backstage and walked down the ramp to the ring. Swagger kept smiling and got into the ring to slam down Stevens again. Tommy Dreamer charged down to the ring to chase off Jack Swagger. As Dreamer checked on Stevens, Mike Knox had come down and got onto the apron. Dreamer stood up to face him, but Swagger got back in the ring to attack Dreamer. Swagger hit his finisher on Dreamer, and left the ring all smiles with Dreamer and Stevens down on the mat.

Winner Faces Ricky Ortiz

The former tag team champs faced one another for the chance to take on Ricky Ortiz afterwards. Both men displayed effective attacks against one another. At one point, the two went to the top corner to battle. Miz was about to hit the suplex but Morrison hit him in the leg and both men crashed to the mat. Morrison was holding his neck/head and Miz was holding his knee as the ref counted both men down on the mat.

Winner: No winner as neither man answered the referee's count.

After the bell sounded, Ricky Ortiz charged down to the ring to face both the Miz and Morrison since neither officially won the match. Ortiz took advantage of the fact both Miz and Morrison crashed down to the mat and hurt themselves in their contest. Ortiz hit the huge O splash on Miz, just as Morrison got to his feet. Ortiz then came off the ropes to hit a shoulder block on Morrison. Ortiz hit the O splash on Morrison then rolled out of the ring. As he headed back up the ramp, Ortiz found a blonde female fan who gave him a kiss.

ECW returned with a Raw Rewind of highlights. The Summerslam match between Cena and Batista was highlighted with The Animal capturing a tough win. It was announced on last night's Raw by GM Mike Adamle that Cena suffered a herniated disc in his neck, leaving him out indefinitely. This forces Cena out of the Championship Scramble at Unforgiven. Adamle announced that a former World Heavyweight champ will replace Cena in the match, Rey Mysterio.

Todd Grisham discussed how Cena underwent surgery earlier today and according to his neurosurgeon, the surgery was a success. Grisham said the herniated disc was pushing into Cena's spine causing partial paralysis in his right arm.

Evan Bourne vs. The Miz
ECW Championship Scramble Qualifying Match

Todd Grisham remarked how Bourne's beat some impressive talent so far in ECW, and has never been pinned. At one point in the matchup, Miz took Bourne up and slammed him down with a face first suplex to the mat. On the mat, Miz squeezed a legscissors around the torso of Bourne. The two got to their feet wit hMiz trying another move, but Bourne countered and started to gain momentum. Bourne continued his roll, until Miz grabbed his tights and clipped his leg. As Miz came off the ropes, Bourne tripped him up then did a Moonsault flip onto him.

Bourne continued with momentum and charged at Miz in the corner, with Miz elbowing his way out. Miz sat on the corner turnbuckle and Bourne kicked him, then climbed up for a move. Miz ducked under Bourne as he leapt up on the corner, causing Bourne to crash down on the turnbuckle on his groin. Bourne bounced off the corner down to the mat, and as he got to his feet, Miz was quick to hit the Reality Check.

Winner: The Miz wins by pinfall over Evan Bourne to qualify for the ECW Championship Scramble.

Chavo was shown walking backstage with Bam Neely and Tommy Dreamer was also shown walking on the split screen, in anticipation of the next qualifying match.

Chavo used unique submission holds to wear down Dreamer like an Abdominal Stretch center ring. Dreamer escaped to start punching back, but Chavo caught him with a foot in the corner. Chavo went to jump off the corner, but Dreamer punched him in the midsection, then gained momentum. Dreamer whipped Chavo to one corner, then bulldogged him to the mat. Dreamer signaled for a finisher, but was holding his side. Dreamer did a running powerslam with Chavo on his shoulder, but Chavo kicked out at 2.

Chavo again elbowed his way out of the corner, but Dreamer was able to knock him off the corner, hanging him upside down. Dreamer ran and dropkicked Chavo, then pulled him down off the ropes. Dreamer hoisted Chavo up for another move, but Bam Neely got on the side apron to distract. Chavo was able to shove Dreamer into the ropes, causing Bam to fall off the apron. The distraction allowed Chavo to yank Dreamer down against the top rope, then hit a Frogsplash off the corner turnbuckle.

Winner: Cavo Guerrero wins via pinfall over Tommy Dreamer to qualify for the ECW Championship Scramble.

Josh Matthews was shown reporting from Denver, Colorado as they held the Democractic National Convention. Batista and Candice Michelle joined Josh at the event.

ECW returned and Matt Striker ran down the rules for the Championship Scramble at Unforgiven. The match has a time limit of 20 minutes. The match starts with 2 men in the ring and every 5 minutes another competitor arrives to the match. During the match, the title can change hands without the champion being pinned. Whoever scores the final pinfall before 20 minutes is up, will be the ECW champion.

Finlay vs. Mike Knox
ECW Championship Scramble Qualifying match

At one point in the match, Finlay was able to toss Knox out through the ropes, then exited to the side apron. Knox yanked Finlay's leg to pull him down, causing Finlay to hit the apron face first. The two continued the fight with Knox gaining the upperhand as they rolled back into the ring. ECW returned from a commercial with Finlay in control. Finlay grabbed Knox' arm behind his back on the mat. Finlay continued to knee Knox in the back then got just a 2 count. The two went to the outside yet again, with Finlay running at Knox. Knox grabbed Finlay for a quick Powerslam outside. Back in the ring, Knox took control, choking Finlay against the middle rope, then running and jumping onto his back.

With Knox in control, he kept Finlay in a chinlock. Finlay fought to his feet, but Knox rammed him back into the corner, dropping him to the mat. Knox turned his attention to Hornswoggle who was nearby outside the ring. Knox grabbed his coat, but Hornswoggle slipped out of it and ran part way up the ramp. Finlay was able to run and clothesline Knox out of the ring, then began a beatdown outside the ring. Back in the ring, Finlay had serious momentum. Knox eventually got back in control but couldn't score the pin, so he went over and started taking the turnbuckle cover off.

The ref came over to stop Knox from removing the cover. Finlay had grabbed a shilaleigh while he was down on the mat and went at Knox, with the ref still in the corner. Knox kicked Finlay causing the shilaleigh to fall to the mat. The ref turned to see it and took it away, thinking Knox brought it into play. Meanwhile, Hornswoggle slipped another shilaleigh into the ring to Finlay. Finlay clocked Knox over the head, then scored the winning pinfall.

Winner: Finlay wins via pinfall over Mike Knox to qualify for the ECW Championship Scramble.

ECW left the air with its Championship Scramble picture set. Mark Henry will defend the ECW title at Unforgiven against The Miz, Chavo Guerrero, Matt Hardy and Finlay.

WWE's Minor League - The ECW

Lately, WWE's ECW show has taken on the feel of more of a developmental or training league. Similar to Major League Baseball's A divisions, where teams test and train prospective talent, or the NBA's Developmental League, ECW showcases up and coming high-flyers and new stars. Recent examples include Evan Bourne, Colin Delaney and Ricky Atlas. They're part of what Teddy Long calls a new initiative to find talent for WWE.

Some great examples of how ECW stars have translated over to bigger success on other WWE shows are CM Punk and Kofi Kingston. Both guys were recently drafted to Raw and both captured titles on the show. Of course they each received a helping hand from major stars. CM Punk benefitted from Batista's attack on Edge, while Kofi Kingston took advantage of Shawn Michaels' ringside distraction. Punk is now the World Heavyweight title holder while Kingston holds the Intercontinental title. Ryder and Hawkins are another good example as they were originally known as the Major Brothers over on ECW, then headed to Smackdown and eventually formed part of Edge & Vickie's La Familia clique.

With all these newcomers and up and coming talent, you'd have to wonder why ECW scheduled a Mike Knox match against Shannon Moore. Knox seemed like a good move off of ECW with the recent draft. He'd easily portray a Snitsky like character on Smackdown that would help give new stars a push. Then again, he can fulfill the same role on ECW, losing to the likes of Evan Bourne and Colin Delaney. And on a final note, how about a return of the Cruiserweight or Lightweight title, giving the rising stars of ECW another title to fight for?

Former Knox Home Includes Steroids

A startling discovery was made by a family living in the former home of WWE wrestler Mike Knox. When looking in the attic, the homeowner's daughter discovered a secret stash off syringes, steroids and HGH inside a shoebox. The home was previously inhabited by Michael Hettinga (wrestling name "Mike Knox") and 3 other pro wrestlers.

More from NY Daily News:

A Locust Grove, Ga., family had an unusual hidden treasure in the attic that may link World Wrestling Entertainment performer Mike Knox to steroids and human growth hormone.

According to WSB-TV in Atlanta, homeowner Judson Powell said his daughter had discovered a stash of steroids, HGH and syringes in a shoebox in the the attic. A second shoebox contained a WWE contract and pay stubs with the name Michael Hettinga, Knox's real name. Knox used to live at the home, as did three other pro wrestlers.

"My original thought was, 'Who could be so dumb as to leave something like this here,'" Powell told the station.

Yesterday, neither the Henry County (Ga.) Police Dept. nor WWE would confirm that Knox was the performer linked to the stash.

Last June, the pro wrestling world was rocked by the death of Chris Benoit. Steroids were found in the suburban Atlanta home where police say Benoit murdered his wife and young son before hanging himself.
