Raw Preview 01.04.10
Tonight will make for a historic first episode of Raw in the new year. On January 4, 2010, WWE will see the return of Bret "The Hitman" Hart after a 12 year absence from WWE and Raw. The Hitman hasn't been on speaking terms with Chairman Vince McMahon ever since 1997's infamous "Montreal Screwjob". Now Bret will make his return to guest host Raw. Shawn Michaels encouraged Vince McMahon to allow Hart to guest host, and HBK even said he'll welcome Bret Hart back. But will Hart be receptive towards Vince McMahon and the Heartbreak Kid? What will The Hitman have in store for tonight's episode of Raw?

Tonight's show will also see a feud go to its ultimate limits as Randy Orton has arranged to face Kofi Kingston in a one-on-one matchup. Last week, Orton announced that he plans to destroy Kofi Kingston once and for all on WWE Raw. These two have been feuding for several months now, including Pay-Per-View matches and a furious finish in the Breakthrough Battle Royal, where Kingston eliminated Orton. The feud also saw Orton hit a huge Boom Boom double leg drop on Orton up in the audience section of Madison Square Garden. Now tonight, Orton has plans to finally put Kingston and their feud to rest. Will The Viper succeed in his quest, or will Kofi Kingston get the best of this grudge?
And finally, last week was John Cena's chance at redemption as he got to fight in a rematch against Sheamus for the WWE Title. Cena originally requested another tables match, with Sheamus refusing that idea. Instead they fought in a normal one-on-one match for the championship. During the match, Cena managed to grab the momentum and eventually put Sheamus up on his shoulders for the Attitude Adjustment. Sheamus held onto the top rope with Cena yanking him free. Right before Cena could hit his finisher though, Sheamus used a free arm to shove the ref down to the mat. That move resulted in the referee disqualifying Sheamus, despite Cena having a pinfall. In the aftermath, Cena angrily grabbed Sheamus outside on the ramp to bring back to the ring. Sheamus avoided Cena's attack in the ring and booted him down, ultimately standing above the former champ. What will be the next move between these two superstars? Will Cena be given another rematch, or be forced to earn one at the Royal Rumble?
