Raw Results 06/28/10

WWE Raw Results from Philadelphia, PA:

Raw opened with the highlight video of the NXT guys giving Vince McMahon a beatdown in the ring. Cole and Lawler were shown on camera. Cole said the NXT group wants to be known as "The Nexus". Lawler said Wade Barrett has been called before WWE Headquarters. Cole read the new anonymous GM's statement from last week "the group's actions will be met with the appropriate consequences." From there, Sheamus' theme song hit and The Celtic Warrior came to the ring smiling with the WWE championship belt.

Sheamus mocked Cena saying "The Champ is Here" and then said Cena is no longer the #1 contender because he used his rematch clause last week. Sheamus said no longer will he hear any Cena insults about his skin or looking like a jar of mayonaise. Sheamus said Cena won't get a shot at the gold ever again. This brought out the former champ.

Cena told Sheamus he was out there to ask for help. He brought up The Nexus, saying these guys are going after everyone who's near the top. Cena suggested that if Sheamus wants to keep the WWE title and his career. Cena suggested that he and Sheamus fight together against The Nexus right now. Just then, Michael Cole received an email from the new Raw GM. He stepped up to a special podium with a laptop and microphone. The email said "The GM will wait until next week to take action against the Nexus. I'll wait until Wade Barrett pleads his case. If any NXT guy does anything tonight they'll be fired, and if any WWE guy initiates contact they'll be suspended.

Cena said his plan's ruined, but we learned that Sheamus is ready for a fight, so maybe they can start off Raw with a WWE Title match. Cole got another email, which said Sheamus will be in action tonight against the World's Strongest Man Mark Henry. Cena dropped down to his knees saying he wanted Cole to tell the Raw GM to email him personally. Cole got yet another email from the GM saying there will be a Raw Money in the Bank match at the PPV in 3 weeks, where the winner gets a WWE Title shot anytime anyplace for up to a year.

Cole said as for now the new GM would "like to demonstrate". Sheamus said he'd had enough and started up the ramp. As he got up the ramp, a steel cage started lowering around the ring with Cena in it. Cole read the next email from the GM saying Cena and Sheamus will fight in a steel cage for the WWE Title at Money in the Bank.

The Hart Dynasty & Natalya vs. The Usos & Tamina

The Usos and Tamina attacked The Harts as they were getting to the ring. They left all 3 members down on the outside of the ring. They started to back up the ramp, then Tamina rushed back down. She tossed Natalya into the ring to give her the Superfly Splash from off the corner.

Winner: No contest, no match started officially.

Josh Matthews interviewed R-Truth backstage asking what actions should be taken against this group "The Nexus". Truth said leave the NEXUS here at the WWE Zoo, because he's the zookeeper and that's the truth!

They showed highlights of the Dance-off between Santino and Kozlov from Viewer's Choice 3 weeks ago. Vlad won the fan vote, then slammed Santino to the mat after winning.

Santino Marella vs. Vladimir Kozlov

Cole said if Santino wins then Kozlov must be his tag team partner. Kozlov did his series of headbutts into Santino's chest, then a belly-to-belly suplex before trying some holds on the mat. It wasn't much longer after that until Kozlov hit the finisher for the win. Kozlov went to help Santino up several times and let him fall to the mat. Kozlov smiled about it as he left the ring. William Regal came down the ramp to congratulate Kozlov then got in the ring to attack Santino.

Kozlov rushed back into the ring and delivered a big boot to take Regal down. Regal rushed out of the ring. Kozlov got into the ring and Santino put up a fist on the mat ready to fight. Kozlov helped him up then put him on his shoulders to carry up the ramp.

Winner: Vladimir Kozlov wins via pinfall over Santino Marella.

Josh Matthews interviewed The Great Khali backstage. Matthews asked for Khali's thoughts on what to do about Nexus. Khali spoke in his language, then Runjin translated. He said Khali is a big stupid giant and he's tired of his manager protecting him. Runjin said Khali said if the group came up right now, Khali would run away. Runjin then walked off the set leaving Khali standing there dumbstruck.

Michael Cole reminded fans that the first phase of WWE NXT voting starts up tomorrow night at 10PM EST on WWE.com. Justin Roberts introduced tonight's special guest host for Monday Night Raw, singer and director Rob Zombie. Zombie said he can do all sorts of twisted things tonight. He said he's going to announce the eight participants for the Raw MITB match at the PPV: Randy Orton, The Miz, R-Truth, Chris Jericho, Evan Bourne, Ted Dibiase, John Morrison and Edge. Zombie said "oh this guy" in reference to Edge who used to use a Rob Zombie theme song for a while in WWE.

Edge appeared up on the Titantron saying he hasn't talked to him since he called to tell him he was dumping his song. Zombie fired back that he took the song back from Edge because he was disgracing it. Zombie started to leave the ring. Edge asked if he scared off the horror director, then said he doesn't matter anyways. He reminded fans he won the first every MITB match and then cashed in to get the title off John Cena. Highlights ensued. Edge said he did it once again against Undertaker. He said he plans to do it again at the next PPV. Cole got another email and announced a main event of Edge, Ted Dibiase, The Miz and Chris Jericho against Evan Bourne, R-Truth, John Morrison and Randy Orton.

Mark Henry was shown walking backstage on his way out for the next match.

Mark Henry vs. Sheamus

Henry was accompanied to the ring by his NXT Season 2 rookie, Lucky Cannon. After taking a beating during the match, Henry regained momentum and hit a huge splash on Sheamus. Sheamus was close enough to the rope to get a leg up and stop a pin. Sheamus rolled the outside, so Mark Henry went out to press him over head. Henry tossed Sheamus in threw the ropes. However, as Henry went to get back in Sheamus hit him with the boot pump kick for the win.

Winner: Sheamus wins via pinfall over Mark Henry.

Josh Matthews was backstage with the other six NXT wrestlers besides Wade Barrett. Matthews asked their thoughts about the Raw GM's statement that if they took action against any WWE star they'd be terminated. Michael Tarver started answering, and then Skip Sheffield got into it with a WWE staff guy off camera. He shoved the guy a few times then punched him down. Tarver told Matthews "that's what we mean". Darren Young had his arm around Matthews and they all started laughing diabolically.

"Money" by I Fight Dragons is the official theme song for Money in the Bank 2010 PPV.

Jerry Lawler was in the ring to talk about a new WWE DVD coming out about one of the most legendary WWE Hall of Famers. He had highlights shown for Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat. The new 3-DVD set arrives tomorrow. Lawler then introduced Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat who came out from backstage wearing a suit. Lawler said there's a few guys in the back who want to come out from backstage to honor Ricky and his career as well. Arn Anderson, Dean Malenko, Mike Rotundo and Michael PS Hayes all came out from backstage to get in the ring and hug Steamboat. Each of them gave their thoughts on the DVD and Ricky's career.

Ricky finally got his chance to speak, but only for a brief moment because "The Nexus" arrived out minus Wade Barrett. All six guys headed down the ramp as the legends in the ring removed their suit coats. The Nexus surrounded the ring as the legends guarded the sides of the ring. Finally, they pulled Arn Anderson out of the ring and tossed him into the ringpost. They got Malenko next, tossing him hard to the crowd barrier. Next Tarver and Otunga yanked Rotunda out to kick away on him, leaving Steamboat, Hayes and Lawler in the ring. Michael Cole was shown standing back in the crowd for safety. For some reason no security was sent down to intervene. Nexus finally pounced, getting into the ring to attack the remaining 3 legends. They isolated Steamboat in the ring for a beatdown including finishers by Otunga, Sheffield and then Gabriel's 450 Splash. Nexus left the ring with Steamboat down on the mat.

When Raw returned, Cole reviewed what just happened to the WWE legends at the hands of Nexus. Ricky Steamboat was loaded onto a stretcher. Cole talked about the earlier announcement and rules handed down by the GM, where the NEXUS couldn't attack any current WWE Superstars, and that no WWE Superstars could intervene or they'd get suspended.

Gail Kim & Eve Torres vs. Alicia Fox & Maryse

Cole was joined by Josh Matthews on commentary now since Lawler had been layed out earlier by the NEXUS guys.

Alicia and Eve took turns punishing Eve for a bit, but Eve finally got away from Alicia. Gail Kim came in firing away, hitting a headscissors flip on Alicia Fox and a lateral press for a near fall. The action broke down though as Gail dropkicked Alicia to the corner hard. Alicia rolled out of the ring to recover, but Even came off the apron for her. Alicia turned the tables and rammed Eve into the apron. Gail began to turn her attention out of the ring, and Maryse came into the ring to get her. All of the distraction allowed Alicia to get back in and knock Gail down, then hit the legdrop on the back of her head.

Winners: Alicia Fox & Maryse win by pinfall over Eve and Gail Kim.

John Morrison, R-Truth, Evan Bourne & Randy Orton vs. Chris Jericho, Edge, The Miz & Ted Dibiase
8-Man Tag team Mega-Match

The Money in the Bank briefcase was hanging above the ring for the main event tag match. All eight guys were introduced one at a time. Morrison, Truth and Bourne set a ladder up at the bottom of the ramp. Orton was the final guy introduced before Raw went to break.

During the late stages of the main event, Bourne and Jericho fought on the corner. Jericho went for a Superplex but Bourne was able to punch him down to the mat. He went for Air Bourne, but Jericho rolled away, so Bourne landed on his feet. As he turned around Jericho caught him with a Codebreaker. Jericho was still out of hit, and rolled over to make a tag out. Jericho was slow though as was Bourne. Jericho tagged in Dibiase, Bourne managed to tag Orton. Dibiase rushed at Orton, but Orton ducked his clothesline then quickly hit RKO for the win.

As Orton was getting his arm raised, Edge took down Orton. Edge went to the outside and got the ladder. He started to set it up, but Morrison, Truth and Bourne got in the ring to dropkick the ladder onto Edge. From there, Morrison helped Bourne launch over the top rope out onto Jericho. The Miz came in and did Skullcrushing Finale to take down Morrison. Miz set the ladder up and made the climb, but Orton got back in the ring to shove the ladder over against the ropes. Miz hit the top rope then rolled to the outside. Orton carefully set the ladder back up, climbed up and unhooked the briefcase to pose with it as Raw closed out.

Winners: Randy Orton, R-Truth, John Morrison and Evan Bourne win via pinfall over Chris Jericho, The Miz, Ted Dibiase & Edge.
