WWE Superstars Results 06/17/10

WWE Superstars Recap 06/17/10:

Note: Tonight's episode of WWE Superstars was preempted by Major League Baseball and aired at 10PM EST instead of 8PM. The WWE Superstars show opened with Smackdown's commentators Todd Grisham and Matt Striker on hand. Kofi Kingston was out for the opening match of the night. Striker brought up how Kofi Kingston brought his NXT rookie with him, Michael McGillicutty. Grisham asked Striker what happened to him on NXT, but Striker shrugged it off saying it's more about the rookies. He said the back of his head hurts.

Kofi Kingston vs. Trent Barretta

Barretta's Dudebusters tag partner Caylen Croft accompanied him to the ring, while McGillicutty was on the outside for Kofi his pro mentor.

Late in the match, Kofi hit a flying crossbody off the corner for a near fall. Barretta kicked Kofi in the gut and prepared a DDT, but Kofi tossed him over to the mat. Kofi knocked Barretta down with a high clothesline, then got revved up. He hit the Boom Boom double leg drop, then signaled for Trouble in Paradise. As Barretta got up, Kofi hit him with the finisher for the win.

Winner: Kofi Kingston wins via pinfall over Trent Barretta.

Grisham introduced highlights from this past Tuesday's episode of NXT Season 2. MVP explained to the rookies how they gave them a beatdown as an initiation last week. He said the pros are ready to teach them if they're ready to learn. He asked if they could let bygones be bygones. The pros and rookies shook hands to make up. Alex Riley and Kuval faced off in a match, with Riley pulling off the surprise win in the end.

Later on, Mike McGillicutty teamed with Kofi Kingston to go against Mark Henry and Lucky Cannon. McGillicutty hit the surprise finisher for the win. Afterwords, Cody Rhodes made fun of Lucky Cannon saying he's "all style, no substance". Mark Henry told Cody to put up or shutup. He suggested he face Lucky Cannon. Cody said he'd accept but needed a week to get ready. Host Matt Striker asked what we can expect next week. Rhodes spit the question back at him, then hit Striker with a forearm, knocking him off the ramp.

Yoshi Tatsu vs. Primo Colon

Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler were now on hand for commentary for the Raw match. They discussed how close Fatal 4Way PPV is.

Yoshi gained momentum late in the match with Primo in the corner. He rushed at him with a running high knee then used a rolling bulldog move to bring Primo to the mat. Yoshi went for a kick as Primo was seated, but Primo ducked it. Primo rolled up Yoshi with a schoolboy, but pulled on the tights to secure the pin. Yoshi was enraged by the cheap win.

Primo backed up the ramp mocking Yoshi. The Great Khali came out from backstage to walk Primo back to the ring. Primo rushed back into the ring where Yoshi was waiting. Khali got in just as Yoshi kicked Primo. With Primo stumbling around Khali grabbed him and hit the Punjabi Plunge. Khali and Yoshi celebrated the victory by waving their hands around to Khali's theme music.

Winner: Primo Colon wins via pinfall over Yoshi Tatsu.

WWE Superstars returned with Cole and Lawler introducing the Raw Rebound. It started with Wade Barrett along with the other former rookies telling why they attacked Cena, the ring and everyone around it last week. They did it to make a statement. Bret Hart came out to tell them what they did was cowardly. Barrett said he's got a WWE contract and guaranteed title shot. The other NXT guys wanted contracts, but Hart said no way and also fired Barrett.

Later still, John Cena arrived to the ring and called out the NXT guys who attacked him. They showed up, but so did members from the Raw roster like Mark Henry, Edge, Sheamus, Orton, Mark Henry and Santino Marella. They chased off the NXT guys out of the arena.

Later in the night, it was the main event of Cena/Orton vs Sheamus/Edge. Bret Hart called all of the Raw roster members out to stand on stage and keep the peace. During the main event, the lights went out in the arena. The NXT guys were backstage destroying the place, where they also grabbed GM Bret Hart. They loaded him into a limo and had it driving around in the parking garage, smashing into parked cars. They eventually pulled Bret Hart out and put him against a smashed car. Barrett said they want an answer by Sunday.

Cole and Lawler talked over what happened. Cole said Bret Hart is suffering physical and emotional issues as a result of Monday's abduction. Lawler asked if Bret will cave in and agree to these "cowards'" demands on Sunday. They brought up the matches for this Sunday's Fatal 4Way PPV including the WWE and World Championship Fatal Fourway matches.

Mark Henry & Goldust vs. The Usos

The Usos made their WWE Superstars debut match with Tamnda at ringside. Lawler and Cole kept talking about what happened Monday and discussed what Bret Hart might do Sunday.

In the match, Goldust was whipped to the ropes by Jimmy Uso. Mark Henry slapped Goldust's back, then came into the ring, walking up behind Jimmy Uso. As Jimmy turned around, Henry clotheslined him down hard. Jerry Lawler discussed how The Usos came to the WWE and attacked Hart Dynasty, then got contracts from Bret Hart. Michael Cole said the NXT guys attacked WWE personnel as well as the arena and ring. Cole said if he were Bret Hart he wouldn't give them a contract.

In the late stages of the main event, The Usos worked a doubleteam on Mark Henry with him down on the mat. They kept tagging in and out kicking away and pounding on Henry. Lawler questioned if the strategy was hurting Henry or making him angry. Henry was finally able to make a move to reach over and tag in Goldust. The bizarre one came in on fire, knocking around Jimmy Uso. Goldust was up on the corner pounding away. He got shoved off, but followed with a powerslam as Jimmy rushed at him. Goldust had a pinfall, but Jay came in to break it up.

Mark Henry came in to get involved but ended up knocked off the apron by Jay with a dropkick. Jay jumped off the apron to attack Henry. Back in the ring, as Goldust was running against the ropes, Tamina grabbed his foot to interfere. Goldust turned to face her outside the ring. As he turned back, Jimmy Uso kicked him hard in the chin. Jimmy Uso hit a splash from the corner to take the match. Cole said "Shades of Superfly". The winners posed on the top of the ramp as Henry checked on Goldust in the ring.

Winners: The Usos win via pinfall over Mark Henry & Goldust.
