WWE NXT Results 06.08.10

WWE NXT results from Tampa, FL:

Tonight marked the start of Season 2 on WWE NXT. The show opened with highlight footage from last night's destruction on Raw which came at the hands of the WWE NXT winner and former contestants from Season 1. The new intro started up with the "Wild and Young" song, but this time showing the new rookies and pros.

Michael Cole was on hand with Josh Matthews and said there's a feeling of turmoil in the air tonight. He sent it to host Matt Striker in the ring. Striker said last night the Season 1 of NXT caused destruction on Raw, and asked if Season 2's cast would follow suit. He introduced the Season 2 Pros one-by-one.

The Miz came out first, mic in hand and introduced who he said will be next breakout star, Alex Riley. John Morrison was out next and introduced Eli Cottonwood, the 7-footer. Cody Rhodes came out next and introduced his rookie Husky Harris but with not much enthusiasm. Team LayCool came out next to introduce their rookie Kuval who they made carry their Womens championship belts to the ring. Mark Henry came out and introduced his rook, Lucky Cannon. Kofi Kingston arrived out and introduced Michael McGillicutty. MVP introduced his rookie Showtime Percy Watson. Last, Zack Ryder came out to introduce Titus O'Neil as his new bro.

All of the pros and their rookies assembled in the ring together with Striker. Striker said this season 50% of the rookie evaluation goes to the Pros, and the other 50% will rest with the WWE Universe fans to vote on WWE.com. He said season 2 will only be 12 weeks long, and in 3 weeks will be the first Pros Poll. The fans will cast their first votes as well. In six weeks will be the first elimination for Season 2. Striker said the pros and rookies will be in action next. Husky Harris rushed forward to yell into the mic about himself. Titus O'Neil got up to him and they started shoving. All of the rookies start pushing each other as NXT went to commercial.

Cole and Josh Matthews discussed the WWE NXT competitors attack last night at the end of Raw. Cole referred to them as the "NXT graduates from season 1". He said he managed to escape, but as he was walking through the crowd, children were crying about it. Matthews said it was tough to watch and he hopes that doesn't repeat again tonight on NXT.

John Morrison & Eli Cottonwood vs. Zack Ryder & Titus O'Neil

The action came down to Ryder vs Morrison in this one. Ryder kicked Morrison in the arm, then made the tag to O'Neil. Morrison ducked a clothesline then hit a spinning kick to take out O'Neil. He had the cover, but Ryder was in to break it up. Cottonwood came in and leveled Ryder over the top rope. Morrison put O'Neil in the corner and hit Starship Pain.

Winner: John Morrison & Eli Cottonwood win via pinfall over Zack Ryder & Titus O'Neil.

Striker asked Morrison's opinion of his rookie, Eli Cottonwood. Morrison asked the audience if they liked him and they cheered. Morrison said he goes by what the people say. Striker asked for The Miz' opinion. Miz said he wasn't impressed or entertained. Cole started telling Matthews that's why he loves Miz, because he's so outspoken. He said Miz is the "Bill Parcells of NXT coaches."

They showed a video profile of rookie Alex Riley from Virginia. His Pro is The Miz. He said his mom was Miss Virginia and his father was a New York Jet. He talked about driving nice cars, owning nice clothes and having great parents. He said call the show "Alex Riley and the Seven Dorks." His gimmick was part Ted Dibiase, part Striker and part The Miz.

Michael Cole then said they'll review the NXT assault from last night's Raw in just a bit.

MVP & Percy Watson vs. Cody Rhodes & Husky Harris

Cole mentioned that Cody Rhodes' rookie's dad was IRS and that Cody's dad Dusty Rhodes was on last night's Raw with IRS.

During the conclusion of the match, MVP came in to take over against Husky Harris. He hit him with a barrage of punches then knocked him down with a facebuster. After slamming Harris down, he hit the Ballin Elbow drop. MVP prepared for Playmaker, but Cody distracted the ref, then tried to jump at MVP from the corner. MVP kicked Cody in the gut, and Cody rolled out of the ring. MVP tagged in Watson who kicked Harris in the gut and did a unique float-over DDT take down for the win.

Winner: MVP & Percy Watson win via pinfall over Cody Rhodes & Husky Harris.

Striker got in the ring to interview the Pros about their rookies. Rhodes said Husky Harris looks awfully familiar. He said he looks like someone in his family, but also like a lot of the fans in attendance. Cody said he's going to mold Harris into a star. MVP said Percy Watson is ready for Primetime.

Next up was a behind-the-scenes look at Michael McGillicutty from Minnesota. He said he's wrestling royalty, his grandfather is Larry "The Ax" Hennig and his dad is Mr. Perfect Curt Hennig. He said it's time for him to shine as the next WWE breakout star, with NXT being his stepping stone to the next level. He described his in-ring style as "ruthless".

When NXT returned, all the Pros and Rookies were all in the ring with Matt Striker. Striker said now it's time to take a look at the vicious and disturbing actions that happened on last night's Monday Night Raw. They showed a replay of the match footage of Cena vs Punk main event, which Wade Barrett came out to watch. Cena had the match in control but was distracted by Barrett moving towards the ring.

It ultimately ended up with Barrett and the rest of the season 1 NXT competitors beating up Punk, Gallows, Cena and anyone else around the ring. They destroyed the ring and everything else around it. Other guys who were beat up in the process of the attack included The Fink, Justin Roberts, the time keeper, Jerry Lawler and Matt Striker. Cena was taken away up the ramp on the stretcher after suffering a major beatdown by the former season 1 crew of NXT.

Striker asked various rookies their thoughts on what they just saw. Kuval said if you want to make a statement that's how you do it. Husky Harris said he doesn't agree with what they did, but doesn't care because he's there to win NXT. Eli Cottonwood said he thinks Cena deserved every bit of it. Riley sneezed on the mic then said he's allergic to Striker.

Striker said that on behalf of all the workers, wrestlers, refs and other personnel slaughtered last night, "welcome to the WWE". From there, all the Pros started to attack their rookies. Team LayCool pretended to go hug Kuval then slapped him. Miz tackled Riley down and beat on him. MVP hit the Playmaker on Riley. They eventually cleared the ring of all rookies, leaving just Titus O'Neil who got the World's Strongest Slam from Mark Henry.
