WWE NXT Season 2 roster - superstars & rookie pairings

The first season of WWE NXT has ended for SyFy as of 06/1/10, with the Season 1 winner becoming WWE's next breakout star and earning a PPV title match. Now another season is ready to start up next week! The WWE NXT season 2 superstars and rookies for the upcoming roster were announced on the finale episode for Season 1. Only The Miz will return for Season 2, with the rest of the Pros all-new.

Here's a look at who we'll see for rookies and the pros who will mentor them:

Rookie: Alex Riley / Pro: The Miz
Rookie: Kaval / Pros: Team LayCool
Rookie: Eli Cottonwood / Pro: John Morrison
Rookie: Lucky Cannon / Pro: Mark Henry
Rookie: Michael McGillicutty / Pro: Kofi Kingston
Rookie: Husky Harris / Pro: Cody Rhodes
Rookie: Percy Watson / Pro: MVP
Rookie: Titus O'Neil / Pro: Zack Ryder

Of note there's five rookies being mentored by WWE Raw roster members, with just three Smackdown mentors involved.

Some quick stats: Eli Cottonwood, real name Kipp Christianson, is 7-2 and approximately 350 pounds. He played basketball for St. John's University from 1993-1997.

On the other hand, Kaval, real name Brandon Silvestry, is only 5-8, and is the shortest in height of the new contestants. He's also worked within Jersey All Pro Wrestling, WWF, Ring of Honor and TNA. His nickname is "Low Ki" or "Lo-Ki". This guy may have an unfair advantage, although we saw that Daniel Bryan's Indy wrestling background didn't win him the season 1 competition.

Titus O'Neil, real name Thaddeus Bullard, played in the Arena Football Leauge from 2003-2007. He also played college football for the University of Florida Gators. He'll be paired up with Zack Ryder who seems unconcerned with the guy's in-ring skills.

This should be an interesting new season of NXT, although I think having CM Punk as a mentor made for some interesting moments on Season 1. You never really knew what he was going to do for or against his rookie Darren Young. However, bringing The Miz back is a smart move, because it seems like this time around he's going to be supportive of his cocky rookie, Alex Riley. Miz may even have the odds on favorite to win it this time. Also, it will be unique to see what sort of mentoring Layla and Michelle McCool bring for their rookie Kaval.

I remember seeing Alex Riley in a warm up match against the Masterpiece for a RAW I went to, this was back before the TLC pay per view.
He played a jock role and told the crowd how he was better than them in high school and how successful he is now.
He lost but showed some pretty strong mic skills.
