Raw Recap 05.31.10

Raw Recap from University of Texas:

Raw immediately opened in the arena with Edge beating up Evan Bourne in the ring. Edge tossed him down then started yelling in Bourne's face. Michael Cole said Edge was in the ring talking before Raw started, when Bourne interrupted saying he wasn't going to wait for his opportunity any more, he was going to make something happen.

Edge whipped Bourne to the ropes, with Bourne coming back to take him down with double knees. Bourne started kicking away at Edge, and was able to KO him with one roundhouse. He got to the top rope and went for Air Bourne, with Edge rolling out of the way. Edge looked crazed in the corner as he pulled himself up and waited for Bounre to stand. From there it was the Spear taking Bourne down to the mat.

Edge called for the mic then said what just happened to Bourne will also happen to his Fatal 4-Way opponents: Sheamus, John Cena & Randy Orton. Edge talked about how people like Bourne and the fans disrespect him despite all he's done so far. Edge said that will change at Fatal 4-Way. He discussed each of his opponents one-by-one. He took his time discussing Orton and the fans started up the "RKO" chant. Edge vowed to become 10-time WWE Champion at the Fatal 4-Way, raising his arms up. Just then, Randy Orton came down to the ring to confront Edge.

Edge asked Orton if he was planning to pounce on him, then he said he knows he won't because he's not 100%. Edge said Orton is putting up a facade and he won't win at Fatal 4-Way. Edge told him he'll hurt him at the PPV, and to look in his eyes because he's not kidding. Orton grabbed Edge for the RKO and drove Edge into the mat, then posed up on the ring corner for the fans.

Cole said that Orton will team up with Cena to face Edge and Sheamus in tonight's main event. Lawler said guest host Ashton Kucher, star of new movie "Killers" (see preview) is out next.

Raw returned to show Ashton Kucher in what looked like a previously taped backstage segment. Eve Torres walked in as Kucher was reading Zack Ryder talking trash to him on Twitter. Ashton told Eve he learned something about putting a hit on someone for his new movie "Killers", he said it could be anyone - a referee, Eve, or even him. Just then, The Miz walked in and asked why Ashton wanted to see him. Ashton said he and Bret Hart set up a little match for The Miz against someone he knows quite well, a guy who got a 1 day contract, Daniel Bryan. Miz and Ashton started trash talking each other, so Ashton told Miz to go get ready or he'd show him "the farm hand". Eve asked if she could see the farmhand and Ashton said he'd show her it.

Justin Roberts introduced the new US Champion R-Truth, who came out doing his "What's UP?" theme song. Cole and Lawler reviewed the highlights of Truth defeating Miz for the title last week.

R-Truth vs. Chris Jericho

Late in the match, Truth escaped a charging Jericho in the corner. Truth ducked a Jericho clothesline then went for a spin kick. Jericho avoided that and put Truth into the Walls of Jericho. It appeared to be locked in, but Truth rolled over a bit and countered it, then turned it into a pinfall win. Jericho was shocked by the reversal, and so were the commentators who had to review it one more time.

Winner: R-Truth wins via pinfall over Chris Jericho.

The official theme song for the Fatal 4Way Pay-Per-View is "Showstopper" by Toby Mac. Cole and Lawler talked about the upcoming PPV, then discussed Batista quitting last week on Raw. They rolled the highlight footage of Batista's in-ring rant and him being confronted by Bret Hart. Batista said he was too hurt to fight against Randy Orton in a qualifying match, so Bret said he would forefeit a spot in the Fatal 4Way match. Batista was enraged afterwords so he quit the WWE.

Backstage, Zack Ryder was with current girlfriend Alicia Fox. Ryder accused Bret of being Ashton Kucher's "hitman" for hire tonight to take care of him. Bret told Ryder he's got bigger things to take care of. Ryder said he'd be watching him, then left. Natalya came in with Hart Dynasty. Bret said he knows the tag team that attacked them last week was The Russos, and he signed them to Raw. Bret said he didn't know they'd attack them, but then said they need to ask themselves what they're going to do about it. Bret left and Natalya started to confer with her team.

Santino Marella & Eve Torres vs. William Regal & Maryse

Vladimir Kozlov accompanied Regal to the ring. Santino took the mic prior to the match and questioned Vlad asking why he keeps aligning himself with Regal when he could team up with Santino to form the greatest tag team ever. He said if Vladimir teams with him, Eve has agreed to make love to him. Eve grabbed the mic and said no. Santino said he meant "Eve would love for you to team with me". Finally, Santino said it was time to show Regal and Maryse the power of the Cobra.

The action broke down as Regal had applied the Regal stretch submission to Santino. Eve rushed in to kick Regal and break it up, so Maryse came in and jumped on Eve. The two divas started rolling around and took their fight to the outside. The ref was distracted trying to get the divas apart. Vladimir Kozlov snuck into the ring, waited for Regal to turn around and then hit his finisher on him. Santino was able to crawl over for a pinfall to win it, and was amazed at the victory.

Winners: Eve & Santino Marella win via pinfall over Maryse & William Regal.

Bret Hart was shown backstage walking out for a big announcement next.

WWE Raw returned with a special Memorial Day tribute video to honor the troops who have helped serve and protect the country.

Raw GM Bret Hart made his way down to the ring for his special announcement. Bret said he's been having a lot of fun so far as General Manager of Raw in just a week. Bret said that he and Smackdown GM Teddy Long chose to do something special next week. Hart said all of the superstars from Raw and Smackdown will be together for a 3-hour episode next Monday. Hart said he wants to hear ideas from the fans about next week's Raw. Hart said next week's show will be a night to remember- just then he was cut off by Ted Dibiase, accompanied by Virgil.

Dibiase said if Hart's accepting suggestions for next week's Raw, he has one, to make him the GM and give him complete control. Dibiase said he's willing to pay Bret and Teddy Long whatever it takes to make it happen. Dibiase told Hart shouldn't look at him like he can't be bought. Dibiase brought up how Hart knows his dad. He said "everyone's got a price". Ted said he knows Bret came back to Raw to be GM because he needs money. He told him not to let pride get in the way, and name his price.

Just then, Ahston Kucher appeared up on the big screen to interrupt. Kucher suggested that maybe next week maybe they should do a "Viewers Choice" show where the fans get all the power to choose matches, wrestlers and stipulations. Bret said that sounds like a pretty good idea to him. Just then, Mr. McMahon's music hit and the Chairman of WWE strutted down the ramp to the ring. Dibiase and Virgil headed backstage as Vince got in the ring.

Vince talked about how Bret jumped on the GM job immediately when it was available. Vince told Bret he's got a tough job down the line which won't always be popular, because he needs to treat the fans as children. Vince said he's got to make the right decisions for the fans, even though they resent it. Vince said he came out to wish him luck, but Bret said he didn't believe it. Vince said it's great to see a guy who was banished from the show back as the General Manager now. Vince said he hopes that Bret's story as General Manager has a happy ending.

Zack Ryder was backstage confronting Randy Orton about being the hitman for Ashton Kucher. Orton was standing near his locker room door. Orton told Ryder if he wanted him down they wouldn't be having this conversation. Ryder and Alicia walked off. Just then, Orton's locker room door opened then slammed against his hurt arm. Orton fell to the ground and Edge walked out of the locker room stepping over him to walk off. A WWE staffer rushed over and yelled for help.

Cole and Lawler discussed what just happened to Orton before the break, then posed the question of whether or not Orton would be able to compete later in the tag match.

Daniel Bryan vs. The Miz

Cole said tonight The Miz is going to teach Daniel Bryan some respect. Cole called Daniel Bryan a punk. Lawler had footage shown of what happened on last week's show between Bryan and Cole with another in-ring confrontation and attack. Cole called Bryan a loser with no heart. Lawler said it looked like he tried to slap Bryan in the footage. On the way up the ramp, Daniel Bryan punched The Miz who was talking trash at him. Security separated the two.

The forner NXT rookie was on a 1-day contract for tonight. Bryan punched Miz down early and put an armlock submission on, but Miz grabbed the ropes to break it. Bryan got clubbed down by a Miz clothesline from behind. Cole kept hurling insults about Bryan during the match as Miz hit a running clothesline on him in the corner. Miz hit the double axe off the corner, then started to kick at Bryan on the mat. Bryan turned it into a submission hold, but Miz was able to turn over some. Bryan pinned Miz's shoulders back against the mat and the ref finally counted 3 for a win.

After losing, Miz was furious and beat Bryan down, before tossing him out of the ring in front of the commentators table. Miz went to the outside to continue beating on Bryan as Cole kept agreeing with the punishment. Miz picked up Bryan and held him in front of the commentators table telling him to give Cole a real apology. Bryan retaliated and punched Miz then tossed him across the table right into Michael Cole. Cole fell on the ground. Bryan retreated up the ramp looking down towards Miz.

Winner: Daniel Bryan wins via pinfall over The Miz.

When Raw returned, Cole was getting back in his seat and Lawler asked if he was ok. Cole said he's been ambushed twice now in less than a week. Lawler said it was sort of like how The Hart Dynasty was ambushed last week. WWE Slam of the Week showed The Russos attacking Hart Dynasty post match last week, as all three members did flying splash moves on them from off the ring corners.

The Usos and Tamina were in the ring when Raw returned. They said the fans are all wondering who they are and where are they coming from. They said the only way for them to make a name for themselves was to come out and put the Hart Dynasty on their backs. They referred to themselves as Jay and Jimmy Uso. Their female manager Tamina discussed her famous wrestling father, Jimmy Superfly Snuka. She said that he wasn't in the spotlight for the first Wrestlemania but should've been. She said that won't happen anymore though. Tamina said they were born and created for one purpose: dominate, they all said in unison.

Just then, The Hart Dynasty's music hit and they all rushed to the ring to get revenge for last week. Hart Dynasty pounced on the Usos in the ring. They isolated one guy then went for Hart Attack. Tamina tripped Tyson Kidd down as he ran against the ropes. Natalya rushed over at her, but Tamina clotheslined her down hard. From there, they set up all of the Harts in the ring and hit the three splashes from the corner. One of the Usos lost his footing and jumped earlier than the other two. Lawler noted that these guys are the twin Samoan sons of Rikishi and Jimmy Snuka's daughter.

Cole and Lawler reviewed earlier events from the night, when Orton RKO'd Edge in the ring. Later backstage, Edge slammed a door hard against Orton's hurt shoulder for retaliation. Cole said everyone's wondering if Cena will have a new partner later on. Cole said it appears Orton is out of action so Cena may be in a handicap match.

Zack Ryder hit the ring with Alicia Fox. Zack said his girl Alicia had a great idea. Zack demanded that Kucher come out and tell him who's going to put the hit on him. Ryder said he could double Kucher's Twitter followers in a day if he wanted. Kucher appeared on the big screen again and said if Ryder really wants to know who's going to put the hit he'll tell him. Just then, Lawler started to get in the ring with a chair in hand. He set it up and sat down though. Kucher said it's not Jerry Lawler.

Just then, Great Khali's music hit and the Punjabi Playboy came to the ring. Ryder and Fox fled from the ring. Kucher said it's not the Great Khali either. Khali left the ring, and Goldust's music hit. Goldust came out to the ramp. Kucher said it's not him either. Ryder said he's getting paranoid and he's sorry he called him out on Twitter. Kucher said just like in his movie Twitter he's never going to see it coming. Alicia Fox grabbed the mic and told Ashton she's tired of this little joke. She went to hand the mic to Ryder and dropped it. As Ryder went to pick it up, Alicia landed a leg drop on the back of his head to drive him to the mat. Kucher clapped his hands on the screen saying "Woo Woo Woo, You Know it" as Alicia danced up the ramp and backstage.

Cole and Lawler discussed the upcoming Fatal 4Way Pay-Per-View with the WWE Title match between Cena, Edge, Orton and Sheamus. Edge was shown getting ready in the locker room backstage when Sheamus came in. He said he liked what Edge did to Orton earlier, but warned Edge about taking advantage of him. Edge said they should try to weaken Cena as a strategy tonight with Orton down.

Next week's 3 Hour Raw will feature guest hosts the stars of the new A-Team movie including Liam Neeson and Rampage Jackson from UFC.

John Cena & ??? vs. Sheamus & Edge

When Cena came out to the ramp he stopped and got on the mic saying he has some bad news that Orton has re-injured his shoulder due to Edge's earlier attack. Cena said it was a brilliant plan, but there's one problem, every other WWE Superstar hates them. Cena said he chose a guy who's still very upset at Edge for what he did earlier. Cena introduced Evan Bourne as his new partner. In the early part of the match, Bourne really took it to Edge, eventually knocking him to the outside of the ring for a commercial break.

Bourne became the victim of the heel doubleteam, continually trying to escape for a tag with the heels reeling him in for more beating. Bourne finally got in a major kick to take down Edge. Both guys crawled towards their partners and tagged out. Cena came in with the momentum and took Sheamus down for the Five Knuckle Shuffle. He hoisted Sheamus up for Attitude Adjustment, but Sheamus escaped it and countered. He slammed Cena down, then prepared for the big Pump Kick. Cena avoided him as Sheamus ran towards the corner. Bourne delivered a high kick to knock Sheamus back for Cena to hit Attitude Adjustment. He tagged in Bourne then pulled Sheamus towards the corner. Cena tossed Edge at the ringpost and he fell to the outside. Bourne hit Air Bourne to complete the win.

Raw ended with Cena and Bourne celebrating in the ring for the Texas crowd.

Winners: John Cena & Evan Bourne win via pinfall over Edge & Sheamus.
