Raw Results from Des Moines, IA:
The opening segment featured Seth Rollins, J&J Security, Big Show and Kane discussing what Randy Orton did on last week’s show. They discussed how he was a rat and sociopathic. Rollins said Orton has never messed with someone like him. He told Orton he’d accept his WrestleMania challenge on one condition, that Orton faces him in a match later tonight. Orton came out to interrupt, with Orton saying he accepts. He said he knows it will be 5-on-1 so they better finish the job tonight because otherwise, he’ll end the “future of WWE” at WrestleMania.
Nikki Bella defeated AJ Lee via pinfall. Late in the match, Brie and Paige started to fight outside with Brie slamming Paige into the ring post. AJ was distracted in the ring allowing Nikki to hit her Rack Attack finisher.
Backstage, Renee Young talked to Kane and Big Show. Kane said that Show will be in Seth Rollins’ corner for the main event tonight. Show started arguing that Kane didn’t tell him this earlier. They started to argue more but Rollins showed up and reminded them why they were sent home last week. He asked how stupid they could be. Kane told Rollins he’s been acting like a spoiled jerk since winning MITB. Kane said he’s not gonna be in Rollins’ corner and Show doesn’t have to be either. Show shot a glare Rollins’ way as the two walked off.
Ryback defeated The Miz via pinfall. Mizdow was ringside. Ryback recovered in the match after Miz yelled at Mizdow at ringside. After the Meathook Clothesline, Ryback finished Miz with Shellshocked. Post-match, Miz hit a Skullcrushing Finale on Mizdow to take out his frustration.
They had an in-ring contract signing for the Cena vs Rusev US title match at WM 31. Cena was out first and cut a promo about how Rusev is currently the representation of the United States as long as he wears the belt and Cena is saying “enough is enough.” Rusev arrived out with an unknown man with him, who turned out to be an attorney. He said they would not sign the contract because Rusev never officially agreed to a match like Stephanie McMahon said he needed to. They showed footage of Lana agreeing to it last week. Cena made a comment about “having balls.” Rusev insulted America some before he finally signed the contract, flipped the table against Cena and left the ring.
Tyson Kidd & Cesaro defeated Kofi Kingston & Big E via pinfall in a non-title match. Los Matadores were ringside with El Torito. At one point, Kofi was distracted, so Cesaro hit him with a move from behind then got the pin. Post-match, Los Matadores attacked Xavier Woods on the outside and put him into the ring for a Neutralizer from Cesaro. Torito got in the ring and attacked Cesaro, causing him to flee the ring. Matadores and Torito celebrated.
Backstage, Jamie Noble told Rollins if he’d just listened to him last week they wouldn’t be in this mess now. Rollins slapped Noble in the face and threatened to fire him. Instead, Noble quit and walked off.
They had a sit-down pre-recorded interview with WWE champ Brock Lesnar. He talked about ending Undertaker’s streak and not caring about the people who were disappointed with that. He said his contract situation with WWE is if he stays with the company, he’ll be champion, and if he leaves, he’ll leave as champion. He talked about there being no happy ending or feel good moments at WrestleMania for Roman Reigns, because he’s going to mess him up. The End.
The Andre the Giant battle royal trophy was shown sitting at ringside. Big Show attacked Erick Rowan as he was trying to get in the ring for their match. Show kept up the attack, as the commentators discussed the same thing happening a few weeks ago on SmackDown.
They showed a video package for the latest WWE Hall of Fame inductee, Larry Zbyszko.
They had an in-ring segment with some of the Andre the Giant Battle Royal participants. Fandango, Goldust, Heath Slater, Adam Rose, Curtis Axel, Alex Riley, Titus O’Neil, Jack Swagger, Darren Young and Kane were there. Kane said to forget about AxelMania, he was there to show them what will happen in the battle royal. Axel left the ring right as Mark Henry showed up. Henry announced he’ll be in the Battle Royal too. He and Kane eliminated all the other guys from the ring. Henry started to try to eliminate Kane, but Axel came in the ring and attacked him. Henry dumped Kane out, then got Axel out.
They had an in-ring promo from Paul Heyman about Brock Lesnar taking on Roman Reigns at WrestleMania. He talked about what WWE will do if Brock Lesnar ignores the rules, asking if they’ll cut the lights out on the match, cut out the WWE Network feed and give viewers their money back. He said everyone will be stuck with Brock Lesnar as WWE champion and there’s nothing they can do. Heyman acted like his mic was cut out, then slapped it. He said doing that to him is one thing, but they won’t do that to Brock Lesnar. Roman Reigns music hit and he eventually came out through the crowd.
Reigns said he respects Heyman as one of the best talkers in the business. He said some people might think Heyman’s talking trash about his family but he’s just introducing what he’s all about really. He said he’s going to address Heyman’s client now. He looked at the camera saying he’d say it to his face if he were there right now. He said they both view this as a fight, and that he’ll have plenty of his family members there to carry him out, but it’ll be as the WWE Champion. He said he will beat Lesnar at Mania, “Because I can, I will and I believe that.”
Backsage, Renee Young interviewed Heyman about what Reigns said. Heyman said Reigns is playing it calm, cool and collected, but next week he’ll get a chance to say whatever he wants face-to-face with his client Brock Lesnar. He said Lesnar can do anything he wants to Reigns next week, so Reigns may want to spend the next week thinking about that and knowing there’s nothing he can do about it.
Daniel Bryan, Dean Ambrose, and Dolph Ziggler defeated Bad News Barrett, Stardust, and Luke Harper via pinfall. The match lasted about 17 minutes total. It came down to Ambrose tagging himself in when Bryan was in. Ambrose had a 2 count on Harper that Stardust broke up. Ambrose hit a huge clothesline off the ropes on Stardust, then eventually hit Dirty Deeds on the legal man, Barrett, for the pinfall win. Post-match, Harper attacked Ambrose and wanted Truth to give the title belt to him. Ambrose attacked Harper and Stardust stole the title from Truth. Everyone eventually got involved, taking turns with attacks. Bryan hit Harper with a running knee, but then Barrett hit Bryan, Ambrose and Ziggler with Bull Hammer elbows, before grabbing back his title belt and leaving the ring. At ringside, he hit R-Truth with another Bull Hammer.
Backstage, Rollins got irritated with Stephanie and Triple H asking what they were going to do about everyone quitting on him. Stephanie said Rollins made his own bed so he needs to lie in it. Rollins blamed Steph for sending Show and Kane home last week. Triple H got in Rollins’ face, and Rollins asked if he was done playing hide and seek with Sting. He asked if HHH is going to screw with the Future of WWE. Steph got in the middle telling Rollins to take responsibility for his actions. HHH told Rollins to run along before things got worse for him.
A Bray Wyatt promo was shown from a smokey set where he talked about how Taker only turned his chair to dust last week. He said Taker’s afraid to show his face because he knows the eyes of the world have been opened. He said Taker’s fate is sealed and WrestleMania is going to be his final resting place and after that “no one will be safe.”
Randy Orton came to the ring for the main event. Seth Rollins’ music hit and he arrived out alone on stage with his MITB briefcase. He said on the mic that it took Orton 3 weeks to make a fool out of him and The Authority, but it only took him one night to make a fool out of Orton. The Authority’s music played and out came Stephanie, HHH, Kane, Show and J&J. They all walked down to get on the apron and surround the ring. Just as they all started to enter the ring, the lights went out sending the crowd into a frenzy. When the lights came back on, Sting was standing in the ring with his baseball bat next to Orton. Orton looked puzzled, but had a chair in hand and got prepared to fight with Sting.
The duo cleared Kane and Big Show out of the ring. Sting hit a Stinger Splash on Noble and Mercury. Then hit a Scorpion Death Drop on Noble. Orton hit an RKO on Mercury. Sting gave a staredown to HHH. The fans chanted for him to close the show as Sting pointed his bat from the ring towards HHH. Cole called it one of the greatest moments in the history of Raw.
