ECW Recap 10.16.07

Recap of ECW from the UK:

ECW opened with the announcement that tonight CM Punk will be in a 3 on 2 tag team match, where he faces the 3 possible opponents for Cyber Sunday. Joey Styles said Punk will choose a tag team partner for the match later on.

Styles reminded fans that they can choose CM Punk's opponent for Cyber Sunday from The Miz, John Morrison and Big Daddy V. Morrison, The Miz an Big Daddy V each came down to the ring to explain why they should be CM Punk's opponent for Cyber Sunday. As the 3 men continued to argue in the ring, CM Punk came walking out with a mic in hand. Punk said they all make good points, except nobody likes The Miz. Punk said tonight he's part of a 3 on 2 handicap match against them. Punk said he had to choose a tag team partner tonight but it didn't need to be an ECW member. Punk then introduced his tag partner, Kane who came out to the ring with a burst of flames at the ramp. ECW hit commercial before the match began.

John Morrison, The Miz & Big Daddy V vs. CM Punk & Kane

Punk started off versus Morrison, with Punks ribs still taped up. Early on Punk dropped Morrison to the mat with a headlock locked in. Morrison battled out and kicked Punk in the ribs. Morrison continued to go at the ribs as his attack strategy. Punk escaped from the corner and flipped Morrison up over him. Punk tagged in Kane who did a leg drop on Morrison followed by attacking him in the corner. Kane slammed Morrison down near Punk then tagged him back in.

Punk was in control briefly, until Morrison caught him with a knee to the ribs off the ropes then tagged in Miz. John Morrison brought in Miz who continued to work on Punk's ribs and keep him away from Kane. Miz went for a pin, but Kane entered and kicked him to break it up. Punk blocked a Miz suplex, reversing it to suplex Miz. Punk finally tagged in Kane who started to take down Morrison and then attacked him in the corner.

Kane clotheslined Morrison in the corner twice, then did a sidewalk slam, followed by a clothesline off the ropes. Kane went for a pin but Miz entered to break it up. Kane delivered an uppercut to Miz, and then Morrison tagged in Big Daddy V. V and Kane stared each other down center of the ring, then Kane started punching away. V eventually recovered and backed Kane into the corner. V went to run off the ropes and splash Kane, but Kane ducked.

V recovered near his corner and Miz tagged his back. Kane then delivered a boot to V causing him to fall out of the ring over the top rope. Miz climbed the corner turnbuckle area and went to jump at Kane who caught him with one hand around the neck. Morrison got into the ring and ran towards Kane, but Kane shoved Miz into him. Punk then entered and ran across the ring to clothesline Morrison out. With V, Morrison and Punk out, Kane delivered a chokeslam to Miz to pickup the win.

Winners: Kane and CM Punk win via pinfall over John Morrison, Big Daddy V and The Miz.

Joey Styles and Tazz reviewed several of the matches fans can vote on for Cyber Sunday including CM Punk's ECW title match.

Backstage The Miz was holding his neck. Morrison came up to him enraged saying he cost him the match. Miz said Morrison ran into him. Morrison said that Miz is costing him votes now so and challenged him to a match. Miz said no, turned to walk away then turned back and punched Morrison down. Miz looked down at Morrison and told him he's on for the match.

Highlights shown from last week's ECW where Miz injured Balls Mahoney during a match, causing Kelly to run over to check on Mahoney. Miz then grabbed the white teddy bear Balls had given to Kelly Kelly and kicked it into the crowd. Backstage, Balls Mahoney said it's not right that Miz owns the contract of Extreme Expose, including Kelly. Kelly came walking up to Balls Mahoney and then asked Balls to go out with him. Balls and Kelly walked off arm in arm talking about their plans.

Vickie Guerrero spoke to Armando Estrada backstage about ECW and Smackdown superstars appearing on each show. Vickie said Kane isn't the only Smackdown star she brought, then had Jesse and Festus come in. Jesse introduced himself and Festus to Armando, and Armando said they can have a match, next.

Elijah Burke & Nunzio vs Jesse & Festus

Festus came down to the ring with his usual pre-match look, but as soon as the bell rang he went into fight mode with an enraged look. Burke tried to go off the ropes at Festus but was shoved right down. Burke tagged in Nunzio who hesitated to get in the ring, so Festus tossed him in himself. Jesse tagged in and displayed quickness against Nunzio, then tripped down Burke after he tagged in. Jesse punched Nunzio down off the apron, and Burke took advantage knocking Jesse down from behind.

Burke began to dominate Jesse. Burke held Jesse and tagged Nunzio in, who dropkicked him off the ropes. Jesse escaped and tagged in Festus who began to knock Nunzio around the ring. Burke jumped off the ropes at him but Festus delivered an elbow causing Burke to hit the mat and roll out of the ring. Festus then tagged in Jesse who climbed the ropes. Festus grabbed Jesse from the ropes and threw him at Nunzio. Jesse picked up the pinfall win. As the bell rang, Festus went back to his pre-match look.

Winners: Jesse & Festus win via pinfall over Elijah Burke and Nunzio.

Replay of highlights from the 3 on 2 handicap match involving Punk and Kane vs. Big Daddy V, The Miz and John Morrison. Styles said the loss by Morrison and Punk's side caused them to set up a match for the main event.

Raw Rebound shown where Vince McMahon announced Triple H will face Umaga at Cyber Sunday. Vince said fans can vote on which match format they will have, then had Umaga demonstrate each of the 3 match types against an amateur opponent. Umaga beat the man in a Street fight, a 1st Blood match and a Steel cage, demonstrating the 3 different matches fans can choose for Umaga vs. HHH. Voting occurs at WWE.com. Tazz voted on a laptop at WWE.com and chose First Blood Match for Umaga vs. HHH.

The Miz vs John Morrison

Morrison challenged Miz backstage after their loss to CM Punk & Kane earlier in the night. Morrison ran at Miz to start things, ramming him into the corner. The two men went down to the mat punching at each other. Morrison took control kicking Miz away then started beating him up in the corner. Morrison picked Miz up then delivered a roundkick to his chest knocking him down. Morrison went to run at Miz in the corner and Miz moved away. Miz then ran at Morrison and delivered a knee to his face.

Morrison regained control and sat Miz up on the corner turnbuckle. Morrison climbed up behind him and went to slam him back. Miz managed to reverse things and flipped himself towards Morrison as they went off the ropes. Both men landed badly and were down on the mat. As both men lay on the mat recovering, Big Daddy V came down into the ring and the ref called for the bell. Big Daddy V proceeded to slam both men down one at a time then beat his chest like King Kong as Matt Striker raised his arm up.

Winner: No contest/disqualification due to Big Daddy V interfering.
