WWE Going Hi-Def
Within the next few weeks WWE TV shows will begin airing in High Definition. WWE Raw will make the switch starting January 21st with ECW making the switch the next night on Sci Fi. Smackdown will begin airing in Hi-Def on Friday, January 25. The A.M. Raw show on the USA channel will begin showing in Hi Def as well.
WWE spent about 20 million dollars to convert its studios in Stamford, Connecticut into more high-def friendly units.
According to TVPredictions.com:
“The move to High-Definition programming is another step in WWE’s ongoing mission to provide fans with the most engaging, exciting product possible,” said Mike Grossman, WWE's senior vice president for television operations. This upgrade will be the first of many technological advances for our brand in 2008.”
The Royal Rumble which hits Pay Per View on January 27th will also air in High Definition, and all Pay Per Views following it will as well.
