Is Flair's Retirement Coming?

Last night may have been a big indication that Ric Flair will end his career at Wrestlemania 24. His longtime friend, Shawn Michaels came to the ring to announce Flair as the first inductee into this year's WWE Hall of Fame class, which makes it look like Flair is about to finish things up. The question becomes will Flair go out with a loss, or retire on a win? It would seem smarter for Flair to seal his legacy with the latter, a victory at Wrestlemania 24.

The interesting part is that Flair is set to appear on tonight's ECW. Quite possibly his Wrestlemania 24 opponent is going to come from the ECW roster, and two early picks would be Shelton Benjamin or Chavo Guerrero. Shelton has been bragging about his greatness for weeks, similar to the last two guys Flair beat; MVP (Smackdown) & Mr. Kennedy (RAW). So it would be fitting for Flair to beat the biggest loudmouth on each roster.

The other possibility is that Flair faces Chavo Guerrero at Wrestlemania 24 for the ECW title. This is a longshot, but one title Flair has never held is the ECW. He would add this achievement to his resume before bowing out. The title would then be vacated for an ECW tournament to decide. Again, this is probably less likely than scenario 1, so we might expect a Ric Flair vs. Shelton Benjamin match at Wrestlemania 24.

Either way this goes, Ric Flair continues to demonstrate his greatness in and out of the ring, and will go out as one of the, if not "the" greatest wrestler of all time.
