ECW Recap 06.03.08

ECW Recap from Los Angeles, CA:

ECW opened with staff moving stuff out of Armando Estrada's office. Armando came rushing in to the office and asked who told them to do this. One of the men said the ECW General Manager did and Estrada responded that's him. Just then, Teddy Long entered the office and to Estrada's shock, Teddy said he's the new General Manager.

CM Punk vs. Tommy Dreamer vs. John Morrison vs. Chavo Guerrero
Fatal Fourway

The winner of this one would get to challenge ECW champ Kane later on the show. Highlights were shown of Big Show winning the Singapore Cane match at One Night Stand. Show cracked the cane over Morrison, Punk, Chavo and Dreamer then took the pin. Show became #1 contender to face Kane at Night of Champions. In this Fatal Fourway, Morrison, Chavo, Punk and Dreamer went at it for the #1 contender spot. Chavo climbed the corner, but Morrison went up to battle him. Morrison went for the suplex, but Chavo blocked. Punk got up on the apron and knocked Morrison down. Both Morrison and Chavo got tangled in the corner ropes. With Morrison hung upside down, Dreamer ran at him and delivered the dropkick. Punk was still on the apron and did a springboard off the ropes to knock Dreamer down. Chavo got back on the corner and was able to hit the Frogsplash on Dreamer, but as he got up, Punk grabbed Chavo. Punk put Chavo up on his shoulders, delivered the GTS and took the pin.

Kofi Kingston joined Tazz and Adamle to commentate on the Shelton Benjamin match.

Matt Sydal vs. Shelton Benjamin

Highlights shown from last week's Kofi vs. Knox match. Kofi won it, but Shelton rushed him after the match to attack. After Kofi got the upperhand on Shelton, Mike Knox layed out Kingston on the mat with a vicious move.

In the matchup, Shelton seemed to toy with his amateur opponent in the ring. Sydall tried to mount some offense, but Shelton quickly knocked him down then threw him out of the ring in front of where Kofi was seated. Shelton came out of the ring and walked up to Kofi. Kofi stood up to face him. As they were talking, Sydall tried to get up and hit Shelton. Shelton gained the upperhand and picked up Sydall then Powerbombed him right onto Kofi. Sydall crashed down on Kofi and his chair against the crowd barrier. Shelton got back into the ring and the ref hit the 10 count, to count out Sydall.

As Shelton was in the ring victorious, Kofi rushed in to attack him. Kofi tackled Shelton then began punching away. The two men went to the outside where Kofi tried to whip Shelton into the steel steps. Shelton reversed it and sent Kofi into the steps shoulder first. Kofi was left layed out as Shelton backed up the ramp smiling.

Winner: Shelton Benjamin wins via pinfall over Matt Sydall.

Armando Estrada vs. Matt Hardy

The US Champion made a special appearance on ECW to battle former GM Armando Estrada was replaced on the show by Teddy Long as GM, who booked Estrada in the match.

During the match, Hardy seemed to have the upperhand with Estrada down on the mat. As Matt pulled Estrada up, he rammed Matt back into a corner of the ring. Estrada began to punch away, but Matt punched back and then picked up Estrada to slam him down. Matt delivered an elbow drop on Estrada from off the corner, then hit the Twist of Fate to win it.

Winner: Matt Hardy wins via pinfall over Armando Estrada.

After Matt's win, with Hardy celebrating in the ring, Teddy Long came to the top of the ramp. Teddy told the ref to stay in the ring. Teddy said he is giving Estrada another chance to prove he's worth his contract. Teddy said Estrada would fight yet another match right now, against Colin Delaney.

Colin Delaney vs. Armando Estrada

Colin Delaney came rushing down to the ring and immediately went for a pin as the bell rang. Estrada escaped it, so Colin tried to pick him up from the mat. Estrada punched Delaney in the gut, then knocked him to the mat. Estrada picked up Delaney for a finisher and went to suplex Delaney up. Delaney flipped over Estrada's back then rolled him up near the ropes for a pinfall victory! Matt Hardy joined Delaney in the ring to celebrate his big win.

Winner: Colin Delaney wins via pinfall over Armando Estrada.

Armando Estrada was shown in a back office talking to Teddy Long, pleading for his wrestling career. Estrada asked Teddy to keep him around at least until the draft so maybe he can go to Raw or Smackdown. Teddy said Estrada would have to stay on ECW as a wrestler and prove himself, just like Colin Delaney. Teddy said he was going to watch his first ECW main event, but had one more word of wisdom. Teddy left, but Ron Simmons was standing behind Estrada. Estrada turned, and Simmons paused for a moment before yelling "DAMN!" in Estrada's face.

Tazz and Adamle introduced footage from today's press conference at Staples Center about McMahon's Million Dollar Mania. Triple H, John Cena, Maria and Vince McMahon were on hand for the press conference. Triple H said there's now a million reasons for people to watch Raw. Vince said to enter fans just need to register themselves at WWE.com then watch Raw this coming Monday. Tazz said on Raw there will be a special code given. When a WWE fan gets the phone call, they'll need the code in order to win the money prize.

CM Punk vs. Kane

Former tag team partners Kane and Punk faced off in the main event. According to Mike Adamle, Kane's ECW title was not on the line in this match.

Kane took control early on and was able to hammer away at Punk in the corner. The ref moved Kane back, and Punk was able to start fighting back. Punk eventually clotheslined Kane over the top rope, but Kane landed on his feet, then pulled Punk out. Kane delivered a huge shot to Punk, knocking him down outside, then tossed him back in the ring.

Kane continued to beat on Punk in the corner of the ring, then choked him a bit. Punk escaped a choke submission move with Kane holding him up. Punk mounted a bit of offense, but Kane regained control. Kane was eventually able to deliver a huge boot to Punk which knocked him out of the ring. ECW headed to commercial with Punk laying out of the ring.

ECW returned with Kane stretching Punk out in the ring to wear him down. Punk fought out of it and came off the ropes, then tried to use the same type of submission on Kane. Kane countered then used an armbar takedown to bring Punk to the mat. Kane continued to dominate more with Punk doing his best to fight back. Kane used a bodyscissors down on the mat to wear Punk down even more. Punk used his elbow to fight out of it then got up to start kicking Kane. Punk gained momentum off the ropes, then did a Sunset Flip but couldn't score the pin.

The two began to trade punches with Kane eventually knocking Punk back down. Kane was sent to the corner ropes but came back to clothesline Punk down to the mat. Kane used the bodyscissors again to wear Punk down. Punk fought out again by punching Kane. Every time Punk would mount some offense, Kane would deliver a knockout punch. Punk recovered though and delivered several knees to Kane's face in the corner. Kane did a sideslam of Punk from the corner, but couldn't capture the pin.

Punk was able to jump off the corner ropes to bulldog Kane down. Kane escaped the pin and used a sideslam on Punk, then went to the corner ropes. Kane jumped off with a clothesline to knock Punk down. Again Kane went for the pin, but Punk escaped at 2 1/2. Kane signaled for the Chokeslam. Punk stood up and Kane grabbed him, but Punk got a high kick to Kane's head. Punk went off the ropes, but Kane threw Punk over. Punk held onto the ropes then pulled himself to the apron. Punk tried for the springboard, but Kane caught him for the chokeslam. Punk countered it and went to hoist up Kane for GTS. Since Punk couldn't lift Kane, Kane was able to get him in a chokeslam and finally take the pin.

Winner: Kane wins via pinfall over CM Punk.

After Kane was victorious, The Miz and John Morrison rushed into the ring to attack. Miz and Morrison knocked Punk outside the ring then beat up Kane. Kane was able to fight back and grabbed Miz in a chokeslam attempt, but Morrison delivered a kick to save Miz. After more of a beatdown, Miz delivered the Reality Check to drop Kane to the mat. The Tag team champions backed up the ramp smiling and raised their arms with Kane still down on the mat looking out at them.
