Is Hogan's Son Getting Fair Treatment?

Nick Bollea, son of former WWE star Hulk Hogan, is currently spending 8 months in jail for last year's car crash that left his good friend in a vegetative state at a hospital. The incident occurred while Nick Bollea was driving too fast for road conditions and lost control of the car. The serious wreck left his friend in critical condition, leading to Nick's eventual sentence. Nick who is still a minor was placed in solitary confinement, yet he and his father recently pleaded for the judge to change Nick's jail conditions due to "unbearable anxiety". The judge stayed firm with his ruling and Nick will remain in solitary confinement for now.

Many people feel that celebrities get preferential treatment, lighter jail sentences and slaps on the wrist for offenses that others get much more serious punishments for. Some also question if Nick is really a celebrity. He's appeared on the reality TV show "Hogan Knows Best" but is simply Hulk Hogan's son. He was involved in racing but hadn't yet made a big name for himself. His sister Brooke does at least have the music video, album and recording contract to give her some claim to fame.

Currently Nick is a on a prison schedule where he's served breakfast at 3:30 AM, does prison work from 8am to 2PM, has lunch about 10:30 AM. His shower has a curtain over it for privacy. But he's left alone for long hours to contemplate his crime, which could drive many people crazy. It's not too harsh, and much better for him than being mixed in with the general prison population where he could be prone to violence and wouldn't enjoy the same privacy.

According to CNN.com, this past Monday Nick's attorneys sued the Pinellas County Sherrifs, accusing them of violating his privacy. The suit claims jailers released phone calls between Nick and his parents to the media, and also alleges the sherrifs allowed a news crew to film them.

CNN's show, Showbiz Tonight has recent footage of the jail cell Nick is staying in. See the jail cell footage here.
