Raw Recap 10.06.08

Raw recap from Seattle, WA:

The World Heavyweight Champ, Chris Jericho made his way to the ring to start off Raw. Y2J dressed in a suit, held his title over his shoulder, and had a visible bruise near his mouth from last night's Ladder Match. Jericho informed the fans that GM Mike Adamle wouldn't be present tonight on the show, so Y2J will take his place, having full decision-making power on Raw. Jericho brought up last night's ladder match and pointed out that he lost a tooth last night and will have to live with it for the rest of his life. Jericho said regardless of that he beat Michaels like he said he would, brutalizing him in his own match.

Jericho said he's done with Michaels now, but is going to put him into an Anything Goes No DQ match against Lance Cade tonight. Jericho continued to taunt the crowd saying he's the real, true champion and best, dominant performer in the wrestling business. As Jericho paused for a moment, Batista's music came on and the Animal appeared from backstage. In the ring, Batista asked Jericho to name the number of days until he puts the title on the line against him. Jericho started to insult Batista, saying he'll make him a forgotten superstar just like HBK. Batista told Jericho he's going to defend the title against him whether he likes it or not, then delivered a Spinebuster, slamming Y2J hard to the mat.

Michael Cole announced a tag team match for later on with Rey Mysterio and Matt Hardy teaming up to face Kane & Mark Henry.

Raw returned to show the aftermath of Jericho being given a Spinebuster in the ring. Jericho was angry and announced on the ring saying that Batista will put his #1 Contender spot on the line tonight against JBL. Y2J added the stipulation that he will serve as guest referee for that match.

Jamie Noble & Mickie James vs. Santino Marella & Beth Phoenix

King of the Ring Regal sat in a throne near ringside with Layla standing next to him. Before the match, Santino announced his new favorite NBA team, the Oklahoma City Thunder, who were formerly the Seattle Supersonics. The crowd booed furiously as Santino continued the promo.

In the mixed gender tag match, Santino had control as he whipped Noble to the corner. Noble hit him with an elbow then both feet when he tried to charge. Beth was nearby and interfered, hitting Noble. Noble turned to confront her, and the distraction allowed Santino to grab Noble for a surprise roll up pin.

After the match had ended, Noble jumped outside the ring to go after Santino. Noble grabbed Regal and dumped him over the crowd barrier. Regal furiously got back over the barrier and attacked Noble near the ring. The ref got involved in the brawl on the ground, eventually getting Noble away from Regal.

Winners: Santino Marella & Beth Phoenix win via pinfall over Mickie James & Jamie Noble.

Todd Grisham talked to Shawn Michaels about the match Jericho put him in tonight against Cade. Michaels told Grisham to go ask Jericho if he plans to go defend his title. HBK said he wouldn't and Jericho is sending his guy Lance Cade to do the dirty work. Michaels said he's bordering on insanity and full of adrenaline, and will show everyone that HBK still has plenty of gas left.

Kofi Kingston vs. Ted Dibiase

Dibiase was accompanied to the ring with Cody Rhodes & Manu who looked on from ringside. Before the match even started, CM Punk's music hit and Punk arrived down the ramp to the ring. Punk cheered on Kofi as the match got started.

Kofi began to gain momentum late in the match as he had Dibiase down, then came off the ropes ready to do his double leg drop. Cody Rhodes got up on the side apron causing Kofi to go over and try to hit him off. Rhodes jumped down and CM Punk went at him. Kofi was distracted by the fight, which allowed Dibiase to hit him from behind then put the Millionaire Dollar Dream onto him followed by a Russian Leg Sweep.

Winner: Ted Dibiase wins via pinfall over Kofi Kingston.

Randy Orton talked with Chris Jericho in an office backstage. Jericho said Batista being the #1 Contender does no good for either one of them. Orton asked Y2J what he wanted. Jericho said Orton's been out of action too long, so tonight Jericho will put him to work.

Michael Cole discussed the recovery of John Cena from neck surgery a few weeks back. A video highlight package was shown detailing the match between Cena and Batista at Summerslam, as well as commentary from Batista and the officiating ref regarding Cena's neck injury. Cena's neurosurgeon was shown as well as the reconditioning of Cena's strength from the injury. The neurosurgeon gave Cena 3-4 months to return to full activities with WWE.

Backstage, Kane and Mark Henry were shown walking on their way to the ring for a tag match. New superstar Dolph Ziggler walked up to them all smiles and offered a handshake to Henry. He retracted his hand when Henry gave him a look. Ziggler tried to shake Atlas' hand next, but Atlas gave him a look then walked on.

Rey Mysterio & Matt Hardy vs. Kane & Mark Henry

At one point in this tag match, Matt Hardy avoided a charging Henry in the corner. As Henry hit he stayed in the corner. Matt got down on all fours and Mysterio ran then jumped at Henry. Henry caught and held Mysterio there, but Matt clipped Henry's leg. Hardy & Mysterio then delivered double dropkicks to Kane to knock him out of the ring. Henry rolled out of the ring as Raw went to commercial.

Raw returned with Hardy in a headlock by Kane on the mat. Hardy was eventually able to escape the heels' attempts to wear him down, tagging in Mysterio. Mysterio started to work on Henry, but couldn't pin. Kane delivered a cheapshot to Rey as he came against the ropes, then Henry threw Mysterio outside the ring. The heels started to dominate Rey back in the ring, but he eventually gained an advantage against Kane, using a headscissors to toss him to the corner. Rey tagged in Matt who hit Kane with a swinging neckbreaker, then dropkicked Henry off the apron.

Hardy continued his momentum and was able to hit a bulldog on Kane off the corner. Henry charged at Hardy, but Matt pulled the top rope down causing Henry to spill outside. Back in the ring, Hardy tripped Kane down against the ropes. Mysterio hit a 619, then tried to jump out onto Henry. Henry again caught Mysterio in his arms. Matt Hardy got on the corner rope to go at Kane, but Henry threw Rey onto the top rope, causing Matt to lose balance and land standing in line for a Kane chokeslam.

Winners: Kane & Mark Henry win via pinfall over Rey Mysterio & Matt Hardy.

HBK was shown walking backstage on his way out to the ring for his match against Lance Cade.

WWE Classics 24 on Demand promo showed highlights from Wrestlemania XIV on March 29, 1998. Pete Rose came to the ring which was in the Boston arena and he began insulting the Red Sox fans. All of a sudden, the Big Red Machine came down to the ring with Paul Bearer. Kane delivered a Tombstone Piledriver to Rose, leaving him KO'd on the mat as the fans cheered wildly. Rose was taken away on a stretcher up the ramp.

Shawn Michaels vs. Lance Cade
Anything Goes No DQ Match

Early in the match, Cade began to deliver a beatdown on Jericho outside the ring. Cade set up a table near the ring and commentary table, then punched HBK some more. Cade picked up Michaels and slammed him through the table then looked down at his damaged opponent. Cade tossed Michaels back in the ring. Next, Cade grabbed a steel chair from ringside and brought it in the ring where HBK was. As Cade walked towards him, Michaels pounced on him, attacking furiously. With Cade stunned, Michaels grabbed the steel chair and repeatedly smashed it down on Cade in the ring. Michaels tossed the chair down then stumbled down into a pinfall with Cade beaten lifeless.

HBK stared down at his opponent as his theme music rolled. Shawn Michaels grabbed the steel chair and began to beat Cade even more after the bell. The fans chanted H-B-K approvingly at the carnage he caused in the ring.

Khali came out from backstage with Runjan Singh and the duo walked down to the ring. Jerry Lawler and Michael Cole discussed a run in Khali had with Johnny Knoxville. Khali took the mic and called out Knoxville. Singh translated for him, saying that Khali had a recent interview on JackassWorld.com with Johnny Knoxville.

Footage was shown of Khali and Singh talking to Knoxville. Knoxville asked if everything on Khali is in proportion to his size. Singh asked the question to Khali. Khali became angry, and Singh told Knoxville the questioning was inappropriate. Khali and Singh got up to leave the interview, with Khali nearly tossing a table at Knoxville.

Singh said that Khali has invited Knoxville to Raw for next week so he can prove his Sense of Fun. Singh said tonight Khali would like to present the Kiss Cam. A camera was shown of various couples in the audience with a pink heart around them. The couples kissed as the camera went on them. The camera went onto Lillian Garcia who looked puzzled. Khali walked over and took Lillian by the henad then planted a kiss on her passionately in the ring. Lillian stumbled around afterwards and Singh said "Great Khali says he'll call you". Singh and Khali left the ring after their fun antics.

Jericho then informed Lillian Garcia there will be a special guest Time Keeper for the match, William Regal. After Regal arrived to his position at ringside, Jericho then informed Lillian of another announcement. Lillian announced to everyone there is a special guest commentator, Randy Orton. Orton came down to the ring smirking as Raw went to commercial.

Batista finally was introduced and the crowd went wild as The Animal hit the top of the ramp for his entrance. During the match, JBL took Batista to the outside. Jericho went to the outside to back JBL off from attacking Batista, which allowed William Regal to rush over and attack Batista. Jericho pretended to yell at JBL in the ring, then JBL went out and brought Batista back inside. At one point, Batista tried to gain the momentum, whipping JBL to the corner. As Batista ran forward, Jericho stuck his leg out to trip him down.

Great! Y2J won the match. But I have pity to HBK. Both of them did their best, they tried very hard to win. I think that is more important than winning a match. Jericho, Congrats.
