Chris Jericho Fan Incident

This past Saturday WWE Superstar Chris Jericho was involved in an altercation when he and his car were mobbed by several fans outside the Save-On Food Memorial Centre in Vancouver, British Columbia. The incident occurred following a live WWE event. Video footage from a cellphone shows Jericho out of his vehicle being surrounded by fans asking for photographs or yelling insults at the star. Several security and guards were on hand to try to calm things down as the crowd got more hostile. Things boiled over when it became a small brawl and Jericho ended up punching a female fan. Reportedly the fan spit on Jericho prompting the star to fight back. Another male fan rushed in to attack Jericho, and eventually security intervened enough to break things up, allowing Jericho to get back in his vehicle and leave. According to reports, the female fan Jericho punched has already pressed charges.

The WWE has made the following comments to TMZ.com regarding the incident:

"After leaving a live event in Victoria, British Columbia on Saturday evening, Chris Jericho's car was attacked by a mob when he was stopped at a stop sign. Unable to proceed, Chris Jericho exited his car to ask the crowd to clear a path so he could continue through the intersection. A man and a woman physically and verbally assaulted Mr. Jericho. Arena and WWE security arrived to establish enough order to allow Mr. Jericho to re-enter his vehicle and depart. The local police arrived minutes later. Mr. Jericho was unharmed in the incident. The WWE is working with local authorities who are investigating the incident to identify the man and woman who fled the scene."

On Raw, Jericho has been involved in a war of words with actor Mickey Rourke of "The Wrestler" and WWE Hall of Famer, Ric Flair. Eric Gargiulio of PhillyBurbs.com is already proposing the idea that WWE may use this incident to increase Jericho's heel status on Raw.

It looked like Jericho was provoked and the security wasn't doing there job. Jericho looked like he was getting mobbed by the crowd and he acted out.
