Smackdown Recap 02.27.09

Smackdown Recap from Portland, OR:

John Cena arrived to Smackdown still demanding his rematch with World Heavyweight Champion Edge. Edge accepted the challenge but his wife and Smackdown GM Vickie Guerrero said no. As Cena let the crowd inform Vickie exactly how they felt about her, Vickie proudly announced that Cena would face Big Show later on Smackdown.

The Miz & John Morrison vs. The Colons
WWE Tag Team Title Match

With the Bella Twins watching from ringside, The Miz and John Morrison went up against the Colons for the WWE tag team titles. Miz and Morrison look dominant in the match as Miz locked in a hold on Primo. However, it was a surprise Backstabber by Carlito which successfully defended the belts. After the match, The Colons left up the ramp along with the Bella Twins.

Winners: Carlito & Primo Colon win via pinfall over The Miz and John Morrison to retain the WWE Tag Team Titles.

The Undertaker vs. Vladimir Kozlov

In what could be a preview of Wrestlemania 25 match, Vladimir Kozlov battled the Deadman. In the match the two exchanged aggressive offense with Kozlov squeezing Taker and clotheslining him out of the ring at one point. Undertaker was able to level Kozlov with a boot and also used a vicious leg drop on him. However, in the end, Kozlov was able to knock Taker to the mat and took the surprising pinfall victory.

Winner: Vladimir Kozlov wins via pinfall over The Undertaker.

In the much-anticipated battle between the Hardy brothers, Matt arrived to the ring ready to fight. Jeff Hardy emerged from backstage dressed in street clothes, then came to the ring and told Matt he wouldn't fight him now or ever. Matt told Jeff it wasn't all about him this time, then slapped him twice. Despite the slaps, Jeff kept himself from striking back.

Chavo Guerrero vs. Shelton Benjamin

Last week, Chavo turned against Shelton Benjamin during a tag team contest, allowing MVP to win the match. This week the two former partners faced off in a non-title bout. MVP arrived to provide additional commentary with Tazz and JR during the match. As things heated up, the action moved outside of the ring. Shelton ended up tossing Chavo at MVP at the commentators' table. This prompted MVP to distract Shelton later in the match, and Chavo pulled off the pinfall victory. With Shelton's attention elsewhere, MVP was able to deliver a Drive By Kick to him in the ring, leveling the US Champion.

Winner: Chavo Guerrero wins via pinfall over Shelton Benjamin.

John Cena vs. Big Show

In his return to Smackdown, Cena was ordered by GM Vickie Guerrero to face Big Show in the main event. Cena effectively battled the enormous Big Show for some time. However, a few seconds of distraction by the Rated-R Superstar, Edge, allowed Show to gain the upperhand. Big Show leveled Cena with a knock punch followed by his trademark Chokeslam to grab the pinfall victory. After the victory, Edge got in the ring with his belt, yelling in Cena's face as he layed on the mat.

Winner: Big Show wins via pinfall over John Cena.
