ECW Recap 03.31.09

ECW Recap from Dallas, TX:

Todd Grisham welcomed fans to the American Airlines arena during the homestretch week leading to Wrestlemania 25.

Finlay & Christian vs. Mark Henry & Kane

Tony Atlas accompanied Mark Henry to the ring while Hornswoggle came down with Finlay. Early on, Christian and Finlay were effectively able to work over Kane. At one point Kane countered Christian and shoved him down to the mat, causing Christian to catch his breath as ECW went to break.

When ECW returned, Kane had taken control against Finlay, and soon tagged in Mark Henry to continue it. Henry's beatdown of Finlay led to Kane tagging in again to try to keep punishing the Irishman. With Hornswoggle cheering him on, Finlay escaped Kane and tagged in Christian. Kane tagged in Henry but Christian continued momentum. After kicking Henry in the leg and forcing him to one leg on the mat, Christian brought in Finlay and the duo double-dropkicked Henry down. They ran over to clothesline Kane over the top rope, but as they turned back Henry clotheslined them both down. Henry was able to knock Finlay off the apron, then caught Christian when he jumped at him off the corner. Henry finished things off by flattening Christian with the World's Strongest Slam.

After the victory, Kane got in the ring looking up at the briefcase and said something to Henry. Henry rushed at him and clobbered Kane causing him to be knocked to the mat.

Winnesr: Mark Henry & Kane win via pinfall over Christian and Finlay.

A "12 Rounds" preview was shown featuring the runaway streetcar that Cena's character must board and try to stop.

Matt Striker said WWE Divas Brie Bella and Nikki Bella will face off in the ring tonight. Also, Grisham said they will cover the latest in the Shawn Michaels versus Undertaker saga.

Striker and Grisham introduced highlights of Shawn Michaels versus Undertaker and how their feud heading into Wrestlemania 25 has progressed. It started with HBK defeating JBL, then Vladimir Kozlov to earn the right to face Undertaker at Wrestlemania 25. Undertaker immediately began trying to intimidate the Showstopper by showing up on Raw. Michaels used various mindgames including sneaking out to Superkick Undertaker on the ramp, appearing on the big screen from a graveyard to bury Undertaker's streak, and then holding several in-ring ceremonies to mock Undertaker. On the latest episode of Raw, Michaels again had the last laugh as he hid under a casket from Undertaker then snuck out to Superkick him down.

Matt Striker and Todd Grisham introduced footage of how the Edge, Big Show and John Cena feud/title match has developed. It started out as just Big Show taking on Edge, until Cena used a videotape feed of Vickie and Big Show fooling around to blackmail Vickie. Vickie added Cena into the match after learning he had the footage. This sparked a heated argument between Big Show and Edge, but also has Show and Edge taking out their frustrations on Cena in several matches on Raw. Now the 3 men head to Wrestlemania 25 for a Triple Threat title match for the World Heavyweight title.

Highlights were shown from Wrestlemania 23 in Detroit, Michigan back in 2007. The PPV saw Mr. Kennedy win the Money in the Bank, Cena defend his WWE title against Shawn Michaels, and Undertaker defeat Batista for the World Heavyweight Title. This event also involved the Battle of the Billionaires with Trump's Hair vs. Vince's Hair at stake. Bobby Lashley fought on behalf of Mr. Trump against Umaga for Mr. McMahon. With Stone Cold as the guest referee, Lashley was able to win it, and Mr. McMahon got his head shaved in the ring.

Highlights were shown of the Randy Orton versus Triple H feud which has been building ever since Triple H betrayed Orton in Evolution. Orton first won the Royal Rumble 2009 by throwing HHH out. Orton said this has all been his plan to take things away from HHH that matter most, including his family, and his WWE Title. At Wrestlemania 25, Orton will have the chance to complete his orchestrated revenge plans.

Todd Grisham reminded fans to tune in Saturday night at 10PM EST on USA for the 2009 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony. Inductees include Koko B. Ware, The Von Erichs, The Funks, Ricky Steamboat and Stone Cold Steve Austin. Austin will be inducted by Vince McMahon.

Brie Bella vs. Nikki Bella

The Bella twins finally stepped into the ring to try to settle their differences. The sisters engaged in a shoving match early on, before jumping on top of one another. The ref prevented Brie from punching her sister. Nikki threw some hard elbows into her sister's face, but Brie held her own using several armbar takedowns and hip tosses. Matt Striker noted that Nikki Bella was the more aggressive in the matchup, but Brie began to gain momentum again.

With Brie in control, Miz and Morrison got onto the apron to distract the referee. With Brie watching as The Colons rushed over, Nikki grabbed Brie and rolled her up in a sneaky pinfall to win.

Miz and Morrison backed up the ramp with Nikki taunting The Colons and Brie Bella who were in the ring.

Winner: Nikki Bella wins via pinfall over Brie Bella.
