Raw Revelations: Orton's Rage in a Cage

Last night on Raw saw Randy Orton once again hit his opponent where it hurts; by attacking someone close to them. Much like Orton hurt Stephanie McMahon right in front of Triple H's eyes, with HHH helpless, he did the same last night to Batista. As Flair and Orton fought it out backstage in the parking garage, into the arena and then into the steel cage, Legacy once again came down to assist, eventually tossing Flair into the cage and locking him inside with Orton. Batista rushed down to chase off Legacy but couldn't rip the steel door off. He didn't really try to climb the cage walls either, but that's a different story. Orton looked out with his typical psychopathic stare, and then delivered yet another Punt kick, this time to Flair. Batista was enraged and looks for some serious retribution at Extreme Rules. Will he capture the title and then enter a new feud with Cena for their next fight at Summerslam? That's quite possible. Also, last night I started imagining another scenario where Flair aids Orton at Extreme Rules, begrudging Batista for constantly trying to stop Flair from fighting. That's a possibility, but a real slight one with the way Flair was beat up. Orton probably finds a way to win yet again.

Surprising win for Kofi Kingston, who has now won the tag titles, Intercontinental title and United States Title. Wonder when his ECW title run will come, because it's unlikely he'll be competing for the other major titles at this point. On the flip side, it's looking more and more like MVP will get himself into contention for WWE Title now, especially if Orton retains, and a Cena-Batista feud starts up. I think MVP could use a change of theme music though. His interruption of Randy Orton weeks ago on Raw would have given goosebumps with a more intense or hard-hitting piece of music. Instead it was the same Silkk the Shocker slower paced rap jam. Take a look at Jericho's arrival to Raw when he interrupted The Rock in a classic promo years back for evidence of how intense it could be. Granted, MVP and Orton don't quite measure up with those guys, yet.

I was fully expecting Big Show to somehow KO Cena last night and Miz to take an easy pinfall for the win, so he could call himself 7-0 against Cena. Instead, it was a reverse situation where Show KO'd Miz (didn't count as a tag?) and Chavo covered for the easy pin. We got a standard divas match, with Kelly Kelly getting distracted and then pinned by Maryse. According to a recent report, Maryse is now the longest reigning Divas Champion, as she just bested Michelle McCool's reign. I don't consider Maryse particularly impressive in terms of in-ring skills, but she's got the look and the attitude of a top notch diva heel. Here's hoping Kelly Kelly earns the title next as she seemed to be steadily improving and putting in some decent work.

Other thoughts from last night; It's interesting how Cole and Lawler did the promo to hype up Extreme Rules from in the ring, just so they had a reason to lower the steel cage down for later. Michael Cole with a slip-up in the ring when he said Batista was challenging Orton for the World Heavyweight Title at Extreme Rules, not the WWE Title. A fan pointed out to me that one of the WWE "Did you know's" said more fans watched ECW on Sci Fi than baseball on ESPN. The fan said she doesn't believe there was any baseball games on Tuesday night for ESPN, but I haven't fact checked that. Anyone know?

Santino got covered in slop most likely to prepare fans for the big payoff as the same happens to GM Vickie Guerrero on Sunday. If no titles are moved Sunday, at least fans get to see Vickie covered in pig slop and mud, rolling with her pigs.
