Raw Preview 06.01.09

Last week's Raw saw a team lead by Batista and John Cena defeat a 5 man team headed up by Randy Orton and Big Show. MVP scored the winning pinfall, and then celebrated the victory alongside fellow teammates Batista and Cena. The opposing team not only included Orton, but his fellow Legacy mates Ted Dibiase and Cody Rhodes. The win definitely seemed to give Cena and Batista a boost in terms of their upcoming matches at Extreme Rules. Cena is preparing to fight Big Show in a submission match, and also picked up a win using the STF against Ted Dibiase on WWE Superstars last week. Batista is trying once again to defeat Randy Orton for the WWE Title. This time the two will meet in a steel cage at Extreme Rules. Since the Pay-Per-View is less than a week away, how will both wrestlers prepare as they head towards the event? Will Orton and/or Big Show use any tactics to try to gain some advantage?

Also on last week's show, a Triple Threat match was held to determine a contender for MVP's United States Championship. Kofi Kingston faced off against Matt Hardy and William Regal with MVP watching from ringside. It was a tough, drawn-out fight, with Matt Hardy trying to cheat his way to a win using his arm cast. Despite all that, Kofi managed to defeat his two heel foes and earned a spot against MVP on tonight's Raw for the US Title. Kofi's a former tag team and Intercontinental title holder, but will he be able to add the United States Title to his resume? Will MVP prove too tough for the man who brings Trouble in Paradise to the ring?

And finally, two iconic WWE figures made their return to Raw last week. Chairman Vince McMahon made a brief appearance in the opening segment of Raw and told a fake Denver Nuggets owner, E. Stanley Kroenke, that WWE fans won't be pushed around by his bad business practices. Vince shoved the man down and out of the ring, symbolizing you don't mess with Vince or WWE fans. Also, the Nature Boy Ric Flair returned to call out Randy Orton. Despite his good pal Batista warning him against getting back into the ring, Flair went against his advice. Batista and John Cena rushed to the ring to save Flair from the attack by Orton and Legacy. Is Flair going to return once again to confront Orton? Will he be in Batista's corner for Extreme Rules? And will Mr. McMahon be back on Raw, or was his appearance just a matter of personal business?

Catch all the action and excitement of WWE Raw tonight on USA at 9 PM EST!

Did you see the "did you know" segment? They said that last Tuesday more men watched ECW than MLB on ESPN. I'm pretty sure ESPN doesn't have baseball on Tuesdays, same with ESPN 2. Cleverly deceiving.
