Smackdown Preview 06.26.09
Tonight's episode of Smackdown will be just 2 days ahead of The Bash Pay-Per-View. This spectacular event is set to include several of Smackdown's superstars in action, including 3 of the 4 men in tonight's Smackdown main event. Intercontinental Champion Chris Jericho & Edge team up against Jeff Hardy & Rey Mysterio in a "Rage in the Cage" match, which is sure to create plenty of havoc and potential injury prior to The Bash. Jeff Hardy will be preparing himself for his shot at the World Heavyweight Title against Punk for The Bash, but first he'll have to contend with Edge and Jericho. Will the enigmatic superstar Hardy be able to pull off a victory with Mysterio prior to the Bash? How will CM Punk factor into this?
Also in tonight's "Rage in the Cage" will be two opponents for The Bash, Chris Jericho and Rey Mysterio. At The Bash they'll compete in a Mask vs. Title match, with Jericho's Intercontinental Title on the line versus Rey Mysterio's mask. Jericho succeeded in unmasking Mysterio at Extreme Rules and has attempted to do so again on Raw. He continues to hold the Intercontinental Title as well, but Mysterio got some revenge last week as he attacked Jericho out of the crowd. Mysterio ended up costing Jericho the match against his competitor, and only heated this feud up more. How will these two competitors do in tonight's "Rage in the Cage" match? Will Jericho unmask Mysterio again?
And finally, two of WWE's finest divas will be squaring off at The Bash. Womens Champion Melina will be defending her title against the ruthless Michelle McCool. McCool made it publicly known last week that she plans to become first diva to ever win both titles (Divas Championship & Women's Title). After Melina had defeated Michelle's sidekick, Alicia Fox, in a divas match, Michelle launched a sneak-attack to take Melina down and out of the ring. Will Melina be back again this week with a statement aimed at McCool? Or will Michelle continue to be in control as they head into The Bash?
