SmackDown Recap from Roanoke, VA:
Jeff Hardy came to the ring to start off Smackdown. Josh Matthews interviewed Jeff in the ring regarding World Heavyweight champ CM Punk and their upcoming match at The Bash. Jeff vowed to regain his title at The Bash. Punk was invited to the ring to give his comments as well. Punk continued to say he's done nothing wrong and has no regrets in how he won the title or defended it on Raw. The fans seemed to be in support of Jeff Hardy during the bit.Jeff Hardy vs. Chris Jericho
Jeff took on current Intercontinental champ Chris Jericho in a non-title bout. Despite early offense from Jeff, Jericho managed to ground the high-flyer and kept him stretched out in a submission hold. Jeff managed to escape it, and regain control hitting a double leg drop on Jericho's groin. Jericho again gained control as he locked in Walls of Jericho. Jeff escaped it and Jericho went to the outside where 3 fans in Mysterio masks were seated front row. One of them, the actual Mysterio, jumped out and onto Jericho. The incident caused Jericho to lose via countout. Rey returned to his seat with the other 2 Mysterio's and cheered the result, then watched Jeff give Jericho a Twist of Fate & Swanton Bomb.Winner: Jeff Hardy wins due to countout of Chris Jericho.
The Great Khali vs. Dolph Ziggler
Another round between The Great Khali and Dolph Ziggler went down on Smackdown. Early on the giant wrestler clotheslined and booted Ziggler down with great force. With Khali in control, Ziggler exited the ring and in his frustration retrieved a steel chair with the ref's back turned. Ziggler then tossed the chair to Khali and fell down, acting as if he was hit by the chair and injured. The ref saw Khali holding the chair and called for the DQ despite protests from Ranjin Singh.Winner: Dolph Ziggler wins due to disqualification of The Great Khali.
Melina vs. Alicia Fox
Michelle McCool's gal pal Alicia Fox (A-Fox) took on the Womens Champion Melina in a non-title contest. McCool accompanied Alicia to ringside. In the match, Alicia worked on Melina's back and used a painful submission hold to stretch her back. Despite "A-Fox"'s attempts to defeat Melina, the champ made a comeback and eventually catapulted her down into a pinfall. Melina's victory celebration was a brief one as Michelle attacked her from behind and tossed her outside the ring. With a mic in hand, Michelle promised to become the first diva to be both Womens and Divas champ. The two will meet in 2 weeks at The Bash.Winner: Melina wins via pinfall over Alicia Fox.
Edge vs. John Morrison
Since breaking away from The Miz and being sent to Smackdown, John Morrison's been a rising star. On tonight's Smackdown he faced former World Heavyweight Champion Edge. The two had a verbal exchange on microphones prior to the match with Morrison telling Edge he's no longer entertaining, after Edge complained he had to wrestle someone inferior like Morrison. In the match, Morrison was on a roll several times with offensive attacks including high dropkicks on Edge. At one point, Edge put Morrison into the Sharpshooter and after releasing it, Edge was set up for The Spear. Morrison did a leapfrog over Edge's attempt, but when Morrison went for Starship Pain, Edge avoided it then hit the Spear to win it.Winner: Edge wins via pinfall over John Morrison.
Cryme Tyme & R-Truth vs. The World’s Greatest Tag Team & Ricky Ortiz
A six man tag match featured R-Truth joining Cryme Tyme to battle Ortiz, Haas and Shelton. Early on the huge Shad Gaspar leveled Ortiz to the mat, but it wasn't long before Haas and Ortiz began doubleteaming their opponent. R-Truth and Shelton Benjamin went at it. Shelton was able to take down Truth several times, but in the end it was Truth hitting a Corkscrew Elbow on Shelton to collect the pinfall victory.Winner: R-Truth & Cryme Tyme win via pinfall over The World's Greatest Tag Team & Ricky Ortiz.
Rey Mysterio came out and challenged Chris Jericho to a match for The Bash. Jericho accepted Rey's challenge for a "Mask vs. Title Match" at The Bash Pay-Per-View in 2 weeks.
CM Punk vs. Rey Mysterio
After just being challenged to a match for the Bash by Mysterio, Jericho decided to hang around and provide guest commentary. In the ring, CM Punk managed to ground Mysterio in the early part of the match, but Rey battled back from a submission hold on the mat. Punk avoided a 619 attempt and when Rey was outside the ring, Jericho got up and slammed him into the ring post. The interference allowed Punk to grab Mysterio in the ring and hit the GTS to win it. Jericho smirked from his commentary position.As Punk celebrated his victory, Jeff Hardy rushed down to the ring and confronted him about the way he won the match. There was no physical altercation as Punk exited the ring and raised his title up as he backed up the ramp, ending Smackdown.
Winner: CM Punk wins via pinfall over Rey Mysterio.
