Smackdown Recap 07/17/09 from Miami, FL:

SmackDown opened with Jeff Hardy coming to the ring to address CM Punk's comments he made last week. Jeff admitted to being suspended twice, but said he's never been to rehab as Punk insinuated. Jeff then vowed to beat CM Punk at Night of Champions, prompting Punk to arrived to the ring. Punk called Jeff a joke and asked him how many test and classes he failed back in school. Punk said if Jeff had been under his guidance he wouldn't have ever got in trouble. Jeff attacked Punk after Punk claimed all of Jeff's fans will see him become "just another statistic". Punk recovered outside the ring saying he has a match coming up, but that won't stop him from returning the beating at Night of Champions.

John Morrison vs. CM Punk

Highlights were shown from weeks ago when Morrison pulled off a rollup pin to get the win against CM Punk. Punk offered a handshake, Morrison accepted, and wound up in the GTS. In recent events, Morrison asked Smackdown GM Teddy Long to give him the winner of Punk-Hardy after Night of Champions.

Late in the match, Punk had Morrison in a headlock down on the mat. Morrison fought out of it and sent Punk to the ropes to put on a headlock. The two ended up going at each other and hitting a double clothesline. Both got up with Punk trying a running knee at Morrison in the corner. Morrison dodged it and hit a flying kick off the ropes, yet failed at the pinfall. Morrison went to the corner and Punk grabbed him for a GTS. Morrison shifted weight, and Punk went for a pinfall. In the corner, Morrison caught Punk with a kick in the face. As he tried to jump onto Punk, Punk slammed Morrison face first to the mat, then tried to roll him up. Morrison reversed it and got the surprise winning pinfall.

With Punk dejected on the mat, Morrison offered his hand for a handshake. Punk looked at him and rolled out of the ring.
