WWE Superstars Recap 08.20.09

On the August 20, 2009 episode of WWE Superstars fans were treated to four exciting matches which included superstars from the Raw, ECW and Smackdown rosters. This all comes just days ahead of the huge Summerslam 2009 Pay-Per-View. Here's a look at the results and match recaps from the 08/20/09 episode of WWE Superstars:

Kelly Kelly vs. Beth Phoenix

In this opening divas match, Raw's Kelly Kelly went up against The Glamazon. Early in the match, Kelly managed to knock Beth to the outside of the ring. As Kelly pushed Beth into the ring and went to get in as well, Beth went on the attack. Beth had a bit of momentum until Kelly achieved her flying headscissors move to throw Beth. After several more moves and a failed pin, Kelly went for her running handstand, but Beth ducked the move and got Kelly into the electric chair. Kelly was able to shift her weight and turned it into a near pinfall. Beth kicked out and leveled Kelly with a hard clothesline before using her finisher to smash Kelly to the mat face first for a pinfall victory.

Winner: Beth Phoenix wins via pinfall over Kelly Kelly.

Tyler Reks vs. Shelton Benjamin

In a rather quick match, Shelton started off with offense as he whipped Reks to the turnbuckles several times. From there, Benjamin put Reks down on the mat and then stretched his arms back to wear him down some. Reks fought back and was able to get a powerslam as they came off the ropes. From there, Reks went to the top and hit a flying crossbody on Benjamin for the pin. Shelton rolled through the pin though to get a pin of his own. Reks escaped at 2, so Shelton used a spin kick on him. From there it was all academic as Shelton hit his Paydirt finisher for the win in under 5 minutes time.

Winner: Shelton Benjamin wins via pinfall over Tyler Reks.

R-Truth vs. Charlie Haas

In Smackdown's offering for the night, Charlie Haas claimed the early control of things when he hit a clothesline on Truth to take him down. Next, Haas tried to use a Crossface style submission move while sitting on Truth, but R-Truth eventually slipped out of the hold. From there, he used a hip toss to take Haas down for a two count pinfall. Haas tried to regain control of things but missed on an elbow drop move. R-Truth was able to hit his finisher the spinning forearm "Lie Detector" to get the pinfall win.

Winner: R-Truth wins via pinfall over Charlie Haas.

Mark Henry vs. Chris Masters

In the fourth match of the night it was Raw superstars battling with the World's Strongest Man taking on the Masterpiece. Early on, Henry was able to block a Masters suplex attempt to hit a suplex of his own. Masters came back though as he got a boot up as Henry charged him in the corner. Masters went for the Masterlock early from there, but couldn't quite get his arms wrapped around the big man's neck. Henry escaped and leveled Masters, then missed on a Splash attempt. Masters went for another Masterlock with Henry ramming him back into the corner.

Late in the match, Masters went for a third try at the Masterlock, but couldn't deliver. Mark Henry was able to hit the World's Strongest Slam, but since Masters was so close to the ropes, he grabbed the rope to prevent the pinfall. Masters then chose to roll out of the ring, and eventually crawled over the guardrail. Masters stayed out long enough for the ref to officially count him out, giving Henry the countout victory. Superstars ended with Henry raising his arms up in victory.

Winner: Mark Henry wins due to countout of Chris Masters.
