The show opened with the new GM Brad Maddox coming to the ring, and talking about how he plans to be the greatest GM of all time.  He says for the Maddox Era he will have Ziggler vs. Del Rio tonight.  John Cena's music hits and he comes to the ring.  Cena is booed heavily and says this may be the only time during the Maddox Era that Maddox is the least hated guy in the ring.  Cena suggested the fans should give Maddox a chance as GM.  Maddox tells Cena he's admired him since he was a teenager and tells Cena he can pick his SummerSlam opponent from the roster.

Randy Orton came out, carrying the MITB briefcase he won last night.  Orton said he wouldn't cash it in tonight, because he doesn't want to make the same mistake Cena made before.  Orton said he believes in taking advantage of opportunities when they arise, and that Cena won't see it coming when he cashes in.  Cena and Orton are facing off as Fandango arrives out with Summer Rae.  Fandango said the fans only want to see him against Cena tonight.  Fandango tells Cena how his name is pronounced, then Orton layer him out.  Fandango and Orton start fighting as Cena left the ring.  Eventually, Maddox breaks up the fight and calls a referee out to have a match.

Randy Orton defeated Fandago via pinfall.  Orton hit the RKO after hitting his DDT on Fandango from the middle rope.

Backstage, AJ tried to rush up and apologize to Dolph Ziggler.  Dolph told her it's time to move on, and said they are done, walking off.  AJ looked shocked.

Mark Henry came out to the ring to admit that Cena is one of the greatest WWE champions of all time.  He said he gave Cena all he had last night at MITB and took him to the limits.  The fans chanted "You tapped out," and Henry agreed with them.  He said Cena would make every one of them tap out too.  Henry said Cena gets to choose his SummerSlam opponent, and he wants to be that guy.  Suddenly, The Shield's music hit and the three men surrounded the ring.  Henry stood his ground, taking off his suit coat and preparing for a fight.  The Shield got into the ring and beat up on Henry, before hitting their Triple Powerbomb on him.

Backstage, Brad Maddox was on the phone with his mom, whom he still lives at home with.  Chris Jericho walked in to make jokes.  Maddox suggested that maybe Jericho can impress John Cena tonight.  He sets up Jericho vs. RVD.  Jericho tells Maddox he has one hell of a future if he keeps making decisions like that.

Alberto Del Rio defeated Dolph Ziggler via pinfall in a non-title match.  In the late part of the match, Ziggler avoided Del Rio in the corner and ADR hit the ring post shoulder-first.  Ziggler hit a huge leg drop off second rope and had a near fall, when suddenly the bell rang.  AJ Lee was shown at ringside with the bell.  Ziggler started yelling at her, and the distraction allowed Del Rio to knock down Ziggler with a huge kick for the win.  Post-match, AJ got in the ring and started to smack Ziggler, screaming at him.  Ziggler tried to hold her off, but Big E ran him over.  Big E hit his Book End finisher on Dolph.  AJ then lifted up Ziggler's head and kissed him before shoving his head back down to the mat.  Big E and AJ left the scene.

R-Truth came to the ring to deliver a promo, but as he had the mic, the lights flickered and Bray Wyatt appeared on the big screen.  Wyatt says "We're here."  The Wyatts then made their way to the ring with the lantern in hand.  When the lights come on, Rowan and Harper are in the ring attacking Truth.  Bray watched from his rocking chair at ringside.  He then entered the ring to speak, saying "they've been lying to us man."  He talked about there being no such thing as heroes, like all the fans believe.  He said "everything is not alright."  R-Truth appeared on the apron with a steel chair in hand.  Wyatt asked him what he's waiting for.  Rowan and Harper surrounded Truth and then Wyatt beat him up, with the other two Wyatts joining in.  Bray kissed Truth on the head before laying him out.  He said "Truth is not the truth they seek."  Wyatt tells Kane to follow the buzzards.  They all pose in the ring as the lights go out.

The Usos defeated Jack Swagger and Antonio Cesaro via pinfall.  The WWE fans got to vote on the WWE app for The Real Americans' opponents, and chose The Usos.  Late in the match, Cesaro was able to hit the Neutralizer, but he got rolled up in a pinfall, losing the match.

CM Punk came out to the ring to call out Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman.  Only Heyman came out, and he talked about how Punk failed him when he couldn't beat The Undertaker.  He talked about Punk returning to WWE after that acting like he was better than Heyman.  Heyman says he lied and manipulated Punk and that the history books will show he dumped Punk, not the other way around.  Heyman brought up how all Punk has is the fans, because he's got not wife or kids and is estranged from his mother and father.  Heyman suggests that Punk can't beat Brock Lesnar either.

Punk finally responds back, saying he swears on Heyman's kids that he will get him.  He said that Heyman knows him best, and knows he won't stop until he gets what he wants.  He tells Heyman that anyone who profited from or enjoyed what happened to him last night is going to get hurt.  Punk called Heyman and SOB, and then Heyman mocked Punk's "It's clobbering time," before Brock Lesnar's music hit.  Both Heyman and Lesnar went down to the ring.  Lesnar stared at Punk from the outside and then Heyman rushed in to attack Punk from behind.  Punk falls into Lesnar and they ended up brawling on the outside.

Lesnar got the upper hand and tossed Punk around outside the ring, over the announcers table.  Punk tried to jump off at Lesnar, only to get caught mid air and rammed into the ring post.  Lesnar finished things by hitting an F5 of Punk onto the announcers table.  He and Heyman embraced before leaving the scene.  Medical personnel checked on Punk who tried to push them away, while clutching his neck.  He finally got up and started to walk off.  With the fans chanting for Punk he fell back down clutching at his neck again.

Brad Maddox walked into Stephanie McMahon's office as she was finishing a call.  He said he thinks his first night as GM is going well.  Triple H walked in and told Maddox good job so far.  They asked if Maddox spoke to Vince about his decisions, then hit about Cena picking Daniel Bryan.  They said that Vince probably wouldn't like that, but they would.  Triple H wished Maddox good luck, then walked off.

Rob Van Dam defeated Chris Jericho via pinfall.  Late in the match, Jericho blocked a Hurricanrana, then put the Walls of Jericho on RVD.  RVD was able to get to the bottom rope to break the hold.  Jericho worked on RVD's leg some more.  After some traded offense, RVD kicks Jericho in the face to knock him to the mat, then hit the Five Star Frogsplash for the win.

After a commercial break, the WWE roster was assembled on the stage.  John Cena's music hit and the champ walks through the group to go down to the ring.  Cena got on the mic saying it's time to tell everyone his decision, but he can't because he hasn't made the decision yet.  He said he's listened to superstars talk all night about why they should be the one Cena chooses, but he's left out the most important voice - the WWE Universe.

Cena starts naming various superstars to get the crowd's reaction.  That includes Great Khali, Alberto Del Rio, Rob Van Dam, Chris Jericho, Fandango, Sheamus and Ryback.  He asks if he's forgetting someone and the fans start a "Yes!" chant up.  Cena said he's now made his decision and thanked the fans.  He says this person deserves a title shot opportunity.  Cena respects the beard, and then says his choice is Daniel Bryan.

Bryan comes to the ring to a huge pop.  Bryan and the fans chant "YES" non-stop, with Bryan right in Cena's face.  Cole says that Bryan is the hottest WWE superstar today, before Raw goes off the air with Bryan and the fans still chanting.

Raw Results 12/10/12

Raw Results from Newark, NJ:

Raw opened with a video package showing the big storylines of the past few weeks.  They include Ryback seeking revenge on The Shield and John Cena's situation with AJ and Dolph Ziggler.

Dolph Ziggler was introduced to start the show, already in the ring at the top of a ladder with his blue briefcase hanging right above him.  Dolph talked about Cena's failed attempts to win a championship, but then said Vince McMahon is playing Santa Claus by giving Cena a shot at his MITB briefcase.  Dolph told Cena it won't be a "Merry Christmas," because he'll be the coal in his stocking.  Dolph vowed to defeat Cena on Sunday, and then cash in his MITB contract to become greatest World Champion of all time.  That prompted Sheamus to come out to interrupt.

Sheamus said to win the title Dolph is going to have to cash in on him to win the championship, but first he has to defeat Cena and he doesn't believe that will happen.  Sheamus said sometime down the road it'll be Cena vs him for the World Championship.  Big Show's music hit and he arrived out to the ramp to interject, saying Dolph and Sheamus are both delusional.  He said Dolph can try to cash in on him, but he'll knock him right out.  Show and Sheamus reminded each other how they can't have physical contact ahead of their match Sunday.  Sheamus said he can still have physical contact with "someone else" and then tipped the ladder over, causing Dolph to hit the top rope crotch-first and hit the outside.

Mr. McMahon was shown walking backstage.  Lawler said he thinks he's on his way out there.

After break, Vince danced out onto the ramp, then announced Big Show vs. John Cena for later on.  He introduced the managing supervisor of Raw, Vickie Guerrero, asking the crowd to give her props for making the match.  Vince then asked Vickie for another match to be scheduled for Sheamus.  He asked her to give an opponent, but she couldn't come up with one, so he whispered into her ear.  She blurted out "Dolph Ziggler?"  He asked for a third main event match, and Vickie said she had a good idea, "AJ in a handicap match."  The crowd booed, and Vince said "AJ in a match..against, against.." then said "Let's make it monumental, let's make it Vickie Guerrero!"  The crowd went wild as Vince then said "Now let's tell the Truth."  R-Truth's music hit as he came out onto the ramp for the match.

R-Truth defeated Wade Barrett via pinfall.  Kofi Kingston and Antonio Cesaro were on commentary, scouting their upcoming TLC opponents.  Barrett gained control late after kicking Truth in the gut.  From there he tried to lift up Truth for a Gutwrench Powerbomb, but Truth slipped out then ran against the ropes.  He jumped up with a scissors around Barrett's midsection, turning it into a sitting pinfall for the big win.  Post-match, he rolled to the outside and slammed the commentary table, causing Cesaro to stand up and start yelling.  Meanwhile, Kofi got up on the corner and hit a flying crossbody on Barrett to make a statement.  Cesaro and Barrett both glared out at the ramp where Kofi and Truth were celebrating.

Backstage, AJ was excited as she told a WWE staff Mr. McMahon gave her a match against Vickie tonight.  She saw Aksana next, who asked if she's told John yet, and AJ said no, but nearly tackled Kaitlyn.  She said she was going to find John to tell him.  Kaitlyn said he's over in the locker room, so AJ walked over and just barged in.  Cena had no shirt on and was talking to a few other guys who rushed off as AJ hugged Cena.  She was talking fast.  Cena suggested they go somewhere other than the men's locker room and escorted AJ out, then made the "she's acting crazy" face to someone off camera.

Team Rhodes Scholars won a tag team elimination match to enter a #1 contender's match at TLC PPV.  Primo and Epico were eliminated first by pinfall as one of The Uso's hit the Superfly Splash to secure it.  Titus came in with a quick clothesline and did his dog bark before a break.  After commercial, Cole noted they were down to two tems.  During break, Uso's hit another Splash on D-Young to eliminate PTP's.  It came down to Sandow/Rhodes vs. The Uso's.  After some distraction from Sandow, and Cody eluding a move from The Uso's he hit Cross Rhodes for the pinfall win, to win the tag team elimination match.  They'll be in a tables match against Mysterio/Sin Cara at TLC on Sunday.

Eve Torres defeated Alicia Fox via pinfall in a non-title match.  Alicia was dominating the match and tried to pin Eve multiple times with no success.  Late in the match, Eve yanked Alicia off the corner causing her to fall to the mat, then followed up with her swinging neckbreaker for the win.  Post-match, Eve posed with her championship belt, having a photographer come into the ring to take pics of her with the belt and Alicia laying on the mat.

CM Punk came out on crutches with Paul Heyman.  He said this injury is real life, not an attempt to duck Ryback in another WWE title match.  Punk talked about how this happens when you defend the title as much as he has over the length of time he's held it.  He spoke about defeating Ryback twice, and saying his next match will be another defense, against The Rock at the Royal Rumble.  They talked about how Punk doesn't have a stunt double, and Rock isn't there to even talk about the match because he's busy with a movie.  Punk said Rock only gets one shot at him with the Rumble.

Sheamus defeated Dolph Ziggler due to disqualification.  Late in the match, Sheamus blocked Dolph's sleeper attempt, but was unable to hit White Noise.  Sheamus went for a Cloverleaf submission, with Ziggler able to get to the ropes.  After more fighting, Sheamus hit his Irish Curse backbreaker for a near fall.  He prepared for a Brogue Kick with Ziggler escaping the ring.  Sheamus went to the outside, but Ziggler hit him with a chair, causing the DQ.  Post-match, Ziggler got in the ring to smash the chair on Sheamus.  He goes for another attempt, but Sheamus hits the Brogue Kick sending the chair towards Ziggler's face.  Ziggler falls to the outside and heads up the ramp.

Backstage, Vickie was in her ring gear preparing for her match.  Hornswoggle and Khali walked in, with Vickie mentioning she was feeling a little tight.  They started helping to stretch her out, forming a compromising position.  Mr. McMahon walked in and saw them, then said "I thought this was supposed to be a family show."  He walked off and Vickie screamed at Hornswoggle and Khali to get off her.

Alberto Del Rio defeated Zack Ryder via submission.  Del Rio put on the Cross Armbreaker to get the win late, after Ryder missed on his Broski Boot attempt.

Vickie Guerrero defeated AJ Lee via pinfall.  AJ came out first followed by Vickie.  Vickied demanded a referee, and then Brad Maddox came walking down the ramp from backstage.  The crowd booed him.  AJ looked puzzled and then walked up to Maddox to confront him.  They talked back and forth and then Maddox called for the bell.  Vickie attacked from behind, getting the upperhand.  She slapped AJ around and tossed her around a few times.  AJ finally got that crazy look in her eyes and tackled Vickie down to keep attacking.  AJ hit a huge slap to knock Vickie back onto the mat, then took the pinfall, but Maddox stood around and wouldn't count it.  Vickie grabbed AJ for a quick pinfall which Maddox counted extra fast to give her the win.  The two escaped up the ramp with Maddox raising Vickie's arm at the top of the ramp.  Post-match, AJ went crazy pounding the mat, and then tossing stuff around outside the ring like chairs and ladders.  She also slapped Justin Roberts in the face before storming up the ramp.

Antonio Cesaro defeated Kofi Kingston via pinall in a non-title match.  Late in this one, Cesaro blocked the SOS then hit a huge uppercut on the back of Kofi's head.  After a near fall, Kofi missed on a splash from the corner, but then managed to get a kick to the head of Cesaro.  He climbs up on the top rope and goes for a move with Cesario catching him mid-air for a backbreaker.  Cesaro followed with the Neutralizer to get the win.

The Miz had Rhodes Scholars as his guests for MizTV.  During the interview, he made fun of Cody's new mustache.  Sandow insulted Miz as being any sort of talk show host.  He said they will be future tag team champs.  Miz tried to get Sandow and Rhodes into an argument, but Rhodes wouldn't bite.  The two left the ring and stormed off.

Backstage, AJ told Cena she wants to be out there for his match tonight.  Cena said it's not a good idea and he'd feel responsible for her safety.  She agrees to watch from backstage.  Cena walks off to go out for the main event match.

John Cena defeated Big Show due to disqualification in a non-title match.  Dolph Ziggler was ringside on commentary.  Late in the contest, Show hit a chokeslam on Cena for a close fall.  Show prepared for KO punch after, but Cena ducked it and then hit the AA on Show.  Seth Rollins from The Shield rushed into the ring to attack Cena, causing a DQ.

Post-match, Reigns and Ambrose come out from the crowd to help Rollins beat up Cena.  They set up a table to smash Cena through, but Kane's pyro goes off and he comes down to the ring with Daniel Bryan to fight Shield.  Cena gets back up, but Dolph Ziggler attacks him.  Sheamus rushes in to tackle Ziggler down.  Show gets up to try to chokeslam Cena, but Cena speared him through the table instead.

The Shield bring Kane back into the ring while Sheamus and Ziggler fight on the outside.  With the crowd chanting for Ryback, he finally comes to the ring.  He tossed a ladder at Shield and then fights all three guys off.  Kane and Bryan help with the fight, as Cena fights off show.  Raw ends with everyone in a huge fight in the ring.

Antonio Cesaro defeated Justin Gabriel by pinfall in a non-title match.  Aksana was ringside.  Before the match, Cesaro said the word "exceptional" in five different languages.  For the closing moments of the match, Gabriel had his fast-paced offensive attack going to speed things up.  He hit a crossbody and nearly scored a 3 count.  He followed up by climbing to the top rope, but Cesaro takes him down, then hits the Neutralizer for the big pinfall win.

Layla defeated Natalya by pinfall in a non-title match.  Late in the match, Natalya put a modified Torture Rack submission on layla, and kept attacking her abdomen.  She hit a clothesline, followed by a standing pin attempt.  Natalya kept on attacking Layla's hurt midsection, but Layla fought back with punches and kicks.  Eventually her roundhouse kick gives her the pinfall win.

Damien Sandow defeated Alex Riley by pinfall.  Sandow cut his standard promo about the masses before the match.  Riley came out to a decent ovation, and received chants from the crowd during the match.  He had some momentum, including a bit spinebuster for a 2 count.  Riley hit a clothesline from the top rope, but Sandow manages to kick out of another pinfall.  From there, Sandow dropped A-Ry throat-first on the top rope, then hit his neckbreaker finisher for the win.

R-Truth and Kofi Kingston defeated Primo & Epico by pinfall in a non-title matchup.  Late in this one, Primo cut off Truth from tagging in Kofi.  Truth tried to fight back against Epico, but couldn't get his offense going.  He eventually escaped for the hot tag to Kofi, who kicked things into high gear with his high-flying moves.  Kofi hits his Boom Drop, then does a flip off the top rope for a pinfall.  Primo breaks things up.  As the action breaks down, Truth helps Kofi behind the ref's back to hit Trouble in Paradise for the win.
