Linda McMahon for US Senate?

According to recent news reports, WWE chief executive officer Linda McMahon may be considering running for the United States Senate. A spokesman for WWE confirmed the story, saying McMahon is considering a bid for the republican nomination. Should Linda McMahon decide to run for Senate, husband Vince McMahon would take over as CEO of the company and assume her duties.

60-year old CEO Linda McMahon was appointed to a seat on the Connecticut Board of Education earlier this year by Governor Jodi Rell. Linda was once the president of WWE, and served on its Board of Directors since 1999. She's a supporter of multiple charitable organizations as well, including Make a Wish and the USO. In 2007, Multichannel News named her one of its "Wonder Women" for her outstanding contributions to cable and telecommunications industries.

Linda's been involved in the WWE biz both behind the scenes and right in the middle of the action. She made her debut during the Corporate Ministry storyline in 1999 which saw Shane McMahon turn against Vince, and Stephanie kidnapped (later revealed to be due to VInce). She was also featured in a storyline where she was confined to a wheelchair, after suffering a nervous breakdown when Vince demanded a divorce. During this story, Vince humiliated her by messing around with other women. It all culminated when Vince fought Shane McMahon in a Street Fight at Wrestlemania X-7, and Linda assisted Shane with the victory. Linda, still in her wheelchair, stood up towards the end of the match and kicked Vince in the crotch. That might be just what's needed in politics these days.
