Wrestlemania 26 matches

As of Monday Night Raw on 2/22/10, the WWE Universe learned of several Wrestlemania 26 matches scheduled for the huge Pay-Per-View on March 28th, 2010. With the Elimination Chamber Pay-Per-View, both the WWE and World Heavyweight titles changed hands and shook up the title pictures as well. Chris Jericho emerged as World Heavyweight Champion, while Batista stunned everyone by winning the WWE Championship. Both Chamber matches set up several of the matches for Wrestlemania 26.

Wrestlemania 26 tickets are still selling for select price levels. Check here for the latest Wrestlemania 26 tickets available!

Here's a look at the Wrestlemania 26 card so far, as well as background info and stories on the matches:

Wrestlemania 26 matches

Edge vs. Chris Jericho
World Heavyweight Championship

Chris Jericho emerged victorious with the World title after defeating Undertaker in the Chamber. That was of course not all his own effort, as Shawn Michaels popped up from under the chamber floor and delivered Sweet Chin Music on Undertaker. With Taker layed out, Jericho was given the World title once again. The following night on Raw, Jericho appeared to brag in the ring about the fact he's the World Champion and is heading to Wrestlemania. To his dismay, the Rated-R Superstar Edge's theme music hit, and Edge appeared in the ring to spear the cocky Jericho down. From there, Edge announced that as the winner of the 2010 Royal Rumble, he made up his mind exactly who he'd face at Wrestlemania: Chris Jericho for the World title. There's been a heated feud developing between these two for over six months, as Edge was forced out of action due to injury, while part of the Unified Tag team champs with Jericho. Jericho continued to insult his former partner, but once Edge returned from injury, he had a chip on his shoulder and wanted revenge. At Wrestlemania 26, Edge has that opportunity. Will he walk out of Phoenix, Arizona as the new World Heavyweight champion, or will Jericho continue his reign?

John Cena vs. Batista
WWE Championship Match

The Animal Batista has been a changed man ever since he snapped during a PPV event, beating up his former friend Rey Mysterio. From that point on, he became maniacal in his attempts to achieve the World Championship, often attacking other wrestlers in the process. Batista failed in several attempts to regain the championship, and strangely walked out on a qualifying match for the Elimination Chamber on Smackdown. The WWE Universe and commentators were puzzled by The Animal's strange behavior, which also included his attack of John Cena on Raw, just after Cena had helped Bret Hart ward off an attack. Cena continually called out Batista, but had no luck. The Animal finally made his presence felt, but only after John Cena won the WWE Championship in the Elimination Chamber. Chairman Vince McMahon appeared to let Cena know he would be headling Wrestlemania, but only if he defended the title in an immediate match, against Batista. Cena was too worn down and broken from the Chamber to put up much of a fight, and The Animal emerged victorious in 30 seconds as the new WWE Champ.

Just one night later on Raw, Cena stormed to the ring and demanded a rematch for the WWE Title he had been robbed of. Mr. McMahon appeared once again and let Cena know that he struck the deal up with Batista for a championship opportunity, and that Batista would only be defending the title at Wrestlemania 26. Vince also informed Cena that he would need to defeat Batista in the main event on Raw to gain his rematch at Wrestlemania. Cena was ready for the fight, but Batista continuously ducked out of the ring after the bell. Finally, The Animal came over but cheaply kicked Cena in the groin. As the former WWE Champ hit the mat, the ref awarded him the match due to Batista's foul play. However, after the bell Batista added more injury to insult with a repeated beatdown on Cena in and out of the ring. After about five steel chair shots, Cena was layed out and Batista smiled at his handywork. Knowing Cena, he won't take the attack lightly and will be looking to strike back. Will Cena be able to overcome The Animal's cheap tactics to regain the WWE title at Mania? Or will Batista continue his bizarre ways?

Shawn Michaels vs. The Undertaker
HBK's Career vs. Undertaker's streak

During last year's Slammy Awards, Shawn Michaels and Undertaker won the award for Match of the Year, from Wrestlemania 25. Michaels accepted the trophy on behalf of both men, and after closing out his speech, he came back to the mic calling out Undertaker for a rematch at WM26. In the weeks after that, Michaels' obsession with gaining a rematch caused him to go a bit off-kilter, costing he and HHH the Unified tag team titles. Michaels failed to win the Royal Rumble or qualify for the Elimination Chamber, and it was doubtful he'd be able to get a rematch with Taker. However when Michaels interfered in the Chamber match costing Undertaker the World title, he got the Deadman's attention. On the following night on Raw, Undertaker appeared and informed Michaels he accepted his challenge, but on one condition: that if the streak is on the line, so is Shawn Michaels' career. HBK agreed to the stipulation, but will his obsession ultimately cost him his wrestling career? Or will Undertaker continue his impressive streak with 18-0 after WM26?

Money in the Bank Ladder Match 2010

Qualifying matches were held to determine the competitors for this annual sports entertainment match. A historic total of nine wrestlers will be in this year's MITB match including: Christian, Jack Swagger, MVP, Evan Bourne, Drew McIntyre, Dolph Ziggler, Kane, Matt Hardy and Shelton Benjamin. Several competitors are newcomers to the match, while wrestlers like Christian, Shelton, Kane and Matt Hardy are very familiar with the format. With CM Punk out of the running for this year's match, it will mean a new wrestler will walk away as "Mr. Money in the Bank". Who will climb the ladder and pull down the briefcase at WM26?

Bret Hart vs. Vince McMahon

In a match that has been "12 years in the making" the WWE Chairman and WWE Hall of Famer will finally face off in the squared circle. Both men are part of the infamous "Montreal Screwjob", where Bret Hart lost the WWE title to Shawn Michaels in controversial fashion due to backstage politics. The hatred between the three men came to a head, when Hart appeared on Raw to finally bury the hatchet. He managed to shake hands with Shawn Michaels, but Vince McMahon wasn't so ready to put the past behind them. Over the last month or so, Vince McMahon has added more insult to injury, after spitting in Bret's face, and kicking his crutch out from under him in the ring. Knowing that Bret has a broken leg gave Vince McMahon enough confidence to finally agree to a Wrestlemania 26 match. Which of these two older competitors will walk away victorious? Will Bret Hart finally gain the retribution he's been seeking>

Triple H vs. Sheamus

At the Elimination Chamber 2010 PPV, it was The Game who scored the pinfall on Sheamus to take him out of the match. That right there is what cost Sheamus the title, and The Celtic Warrior was none too happy. While both men were sidelined on Raw the following night with concussions, they returned the following week. HHH and Michaels attempted to capture the WWE tag titles back from MizShow. After losing their rematch, Michaels was too distraught over the appearance of Undertaker on the Titantron and left the ring. With HHH alone, Sheamus snuck into the ring to attack, eventually delivering some vicious boot kicks outside the ring to leave The Game down on the floor. In the following weeks, Sheamus issued the Wrestlemania challenge and the Game eagerly accepted. Since that, the two have been trying to gain the advantage in a series of fights during matches and around the ring. Sheamus has admitted he watched The Game from his home country before he got to WWE and always saw him as the guy who did what it took to get to the top. Now Sheamus wants to get to the top, but will he be able to defeat the King of Kings to get there?

Randy Orton vs. Ted Dibiase vs. Cody Rhodes
Triple Threat match

While there's no titles on the line, reputations are at stake here. The mentor and former leader of Legacy, Randy Orton, looks to prove to the "students" that he's the best of the bunch. Rhodes and Dibiase have plenty to prove as well, as each one wants to graduate from Legacy as the top rising star in WWE. In weeks past we've seen Orton suffer attacks and beatdowns at the hands of Legacy, but The Viper is always ready to strike. At Wrestlemania 26 will Orton hit the RKO on his former Legacy members, or will one of them grab the spotlight at the biggest PPV of the year?

Rey Mysterio vs. CM Punk

Mysterio finally accepted the challenge from the leader of the Straightedge Society, after CM Punk humiliated his family in the ring on Smackdown. Punk taunted Mysterio and creepily sang Happy Birthday to his daughter, causing Mysterio to get his family out of the ring. The following week, Mysterio accepted the challenge for a match at WM26, but asked that it be a Street Fight. Punk accepted that stipulation on the condition that Mysterio defeat Luke Gallows in a match. If Rey were to lose that match and at Mania, he'd be required to become a new member of the StraightEdge Socity. Gallows won due to Punk and Serena's interference at ringside. Now with the WM26 match coming up, Rey is not only fighting for the honor of his family and fans, but also to prevent himself from being inducted into the StraightEdge society. Can Mr. 619 overcome CM Punk and his Straightedge members, or will Mysterio become one of Punk's newest "disciples"?

R-Truth & John Morrison vs. The MizShow
WWE Unified Tag Team title match

At last year's Wrestlemania 25 event, it was The Miz and John Morrison who held the Unified Tag team titles. This time around they find themselves on opposites sides of the ring, with Miz and Big Show the current champions. Morrison and Truth qualified for the WM26 title match through a Triple Threat match on Smackdown, defeating the Hart Dynasty and Cryme Tyme in the process. In recent weeks, we've seen just how effective Truth and Morrison can be together, but they still don't necessarily have an answer for the World's Largest Athlete, The Big Show, and his destructive knockout punch. Will MizShow continue their current tag team title reign, or will Morrison and Truth celebrate WM26 as the new Unified tag champs?
