Raw Preview 02.22.10

With the Elimination Chamber match and WWE title decided Sunday night (see results), Raw will have an interesting followup in store for tonight's show. Last night in the Chamber, John Cena managed to defeat Triple H in the close of the match, using his STF move to make The Game tap out. However, Cena's victory celebration was shortlived as the WWE Chairman Vince McMahon arrived out to make a big announcement. John Cena would have to defend the WWE title immediately, and his opponent would be the man who gave him a beatdown on Raw, Batista. The Animal came to the ring where a weakened and weary Cena gave his best attempt at a fight, only to get Batista Bombed in about 30 seconds. With that, Batista became the new WWE Champion, something not many fans saw coming. On last week's Raw, Batista told Cena he'd show up next week on the show to face him. Cena will definitely want the face-to-face meeting after last night's match which robbed him of the title. What will go down on tonight's Raw between champion and former champion?

Also on the Elimination Chamber PPV card, the WWE Divas tournament was postponed by Smackdown advisor, Vickie Guerrero. Vickie informed fans that the match would be another day, and instead Raw's divas in the tourney finals would face the best of Smackdown, Team LayCool. Michelle McCool and Layla were able to pull off the win, thanks to the fact that Maryse didn't help out her partner much. When all was said and done, Maryse added insult to injury by berating Gail Kim in the ring and then hitting a DDT to plant her into the mat. Maryse had claimed she wanted to bring class to the divas division on Raw, but it seems she has abandoned that plan. How will Gail Kim respond to Maryse's post-match attack, and when will the Divas title be decided?

In another match on the PPV card, The Miz once again defended his United States title against challenger MVP. Mark Henry was at ringside to support MVP, while Big Show was there for his partner The Miz. Both Henry and Show played a part towards the end of the match as Henry charged at Big Show outside the ring, only to miss and crash through the crowd barrier area. A distraction by Miz of the referee in the ring, allowed Big Show to connect on a KO punch to knockout MVP, giving Miz the victory. Miz now keeps his United States title and will continue to brag about his accomplishments on Raw. Will MVP continue his pursuit of the title, or will a new challenger emerge from the Raw roster?

Tonight's show is hosted by Jewel and rodeo star Ty Murray. Catch all of the action at 9PM EST on USA!
