WWE Superstars Recap 03.11.10

WWE Superstars Recap 03.11.10:

Superstars opened with Smackdown's Matt Striker and Todd Grisham as the commentary team. Grisham reminded fans that Wrestlemania 26 is approaching fast, just 17 days away. Dolph Ziggler arrived out first for the opening bout.

Shelton Benjamin vs. Dolph Ziggler

These are two out of the eight competitors in Wrestlemania 26's Money in the Bank ladder match.

In the late part of the match, Ziggler was up on the corner seated, when Shelton got up and ran to jump up with him. Shelton dropped down with Ziggler, and both men hit hard. Shelton fell inside the ring with Ziggler hitting the ropes and side apron. Ziggler got back in though and hit the Zig Zag, but amazingly Shelton kicked out of the pin. An enraged Ziggler jumped on Shelton's back and applied the sleeper hold. Shelton tried to grab the rope but Ziggler pulled him away, locking the hold in more until it was lights out for Shelton.

Winner: Dolph Ziggler wins against Shelton Benjamin due to submission.

When Superstars returned, Matt Striker talked up the divas section of WWE.com which features divas of the past. In the ring already was Smackdown's Mike Knox.

Goldust vs. Mike Knox

Winner:

Christian & MVP vs. Carlito & Chavo Guerrero

Goldust hammered away on Knox in the corner, before Knox shoved him off. Knox rushed at the bizarre one only to get powerslammed into a near fall. Knox whipped Goldust to the ropes, but Goldust ducked a clothesline. Knox came back with the flying body press and tried for several near falls. He put Goldust up on a shoulder for a move, but Goldust slipped off and turned it into the Final Cut to finish off Knox.

Winner: Goldust wins via pinfall over Mike Knox.

Matt Striker and Todd Grisham discussed WWE NXT. They rolled footage of what happened on this past Tuesday's episode. Miz told Daniel Bryan if he lost tonight's match, Miz would have him thrown out of WWE NXT and make sure he never became a WWE Superstar. Miz lost the match when he got pinned. Bryan slapped Miz after the match. Also on the show, Justin Gabriel defeated Wade Barrett to go 2-0, but an angry Chris Jericho rushed into the ring and attacked. Jericho kicked Matt Hardy out of the ring, then put Gabriel into the Walls of Jericho.

They showed a Wrestlemania XX recall from 2004. Stone Cold Steve Austin officiated a match between Goldberg and Brock Lesnar. After Lesnar was pinned by Goldberg, Lesnar got in Austin's face to give him the double bird. Austin gave Lesnar the Stone Cold Stunner. He offered up a beer can toast with the winner, Goldberg, before giving him a stunner as well. Austin guest hosts this coming Monday night Raw.

Santino Marella vs. Zack Ryder

Ryder was accompanied to the ring by girlfriend Rosa Mendes. During the match, Ryder slammed Santino from corner to corner, but Santino started getting amped up. He withstood the attack and started to punch away at Ryder. After doing his breakdance split to duck Ryder's clothesline, Santino did the armbar toss. He set up The Cobra strike and punched Ryder in the face with it. Ryder rolled onto the apron, and Rosa got up on the other side apron to yell at the ref and Santino. As the ref was trying to get her to stop, Ryder yanked Santino face first into the top rope. Ryder got back in the ring to finish off Santino with the Zack Attack.

Winner: Zack Ryder wins via pinfall over Santino Marella.

Superstars returned with a Thank you for Kevin Rudolf, provider of one of the WM26 theme songs "I Made It".

They showed a video package of Batista's destruction from the past, including the havoc he wreaked on former friend Rey Mysterio. Cole and Lawler then introduced the Raw Rebound.

Raw Rebound showed the Batista Cena feud buildup. On Raw, Cena was facing Vince McMahon, originally one-on-one, until Vince made it a handicap No DQ Gauntlet match. Vince had the help of Drew McIntyre, Vladimir Kozlov, Jack Swagger and Mark Henry. Nobody could beat up Cena enough for Vince to get a pinfall. Finally, Batista entered the mix and was able to beat Cena down with a Batista Bomb so Vince could secure the winning pinfall.

Cole and Lawler discussed the lineup of matches for Wrestlemania 26 headlined by Edge vs Jericho, Cena vs Batista and Vince McMahon vs Bret Hart.

MVP and Christian each arrived to the ring separately for the main event. Christian brought his WWE NXT rookie Heath Slater with him.

Christian & MVP vs. Carlito & Chavo Guerrero

Christian came to the ring with WWE NXT rookie Michael Tarver.

In the late stages of this match, Chavo and Carlito worked the double team wear down of MVP. Michael Tarver yelled at MVP as he was down on the mat, with Cole saying Tarver is doing all he can to get a WWE contract. MVP got some momentum back after he was able to toss Carlito up in the air, causing him to fall face first to the mat. MVP finally stretched over for a tag and Christian came in to fight Chavo. Christian hit a variety of his moves including a Sunset Flip for a near fall.

Christian hit a flying European uppercut off the corner, then went over to knock Carlito off the apron. He attempted a flip from the corner into a pinfall but Chavo rolled through. The fight continued as Chavo went for his three suplexes. Christian countered the final one. He ended up with a pinfall but Carlito jumped in to break it up. MVP rushed in to take Carlito out of the ring. Chavo managed to gain control and went for the Frogsplash off the corner, but Christian rolled out of the way. He quickly got up and hit the Killswitch for the win.

Christian and MVP jawed at each other about who would win the Wrestlemania 26 Money in the Bank Ladder match.

Winners: Christian & MVP win via pinfall over Carlito & Chavo Guerrero.
