WWE Superstars 05.27.10

WWE Superstars recap 05.27.10:

Todd Grisham and Matt Striker opened the show for a Smackdown matchup. The main event tonight belongs to Raw with Evan Bourne facing Zack Ryder in singles action. JTG arrived out to start off the show.

JTG vs. Cody Rhodes

Throughout the match, Cody Rhodes focused his attack on the left arm of JTG. JTG rallied back though and pulled off the "shout out" from the corner, slamming Rhodes face first to the mat. He failed at the pinfall, then whipped Rhodes to the other corner. JTG was able to avoid Rhodes trying to hit him, then slid out of the ring and yanked out Rhodes legs. From there JTG went on the corner and score a leg drop from the other corner for a pinfall, but again Rhodes kicked out.

The two guys continued to trade pinfall attempts. JTG had a spinning neckbreaker for a near fall, then Rhodes recovered to throw him shoulder first into the corner. From there he delivered a kick from the corner and then Cross Rhodes for the win.

Winner: Cody Rhodes wins via pinfall over JTG.

Superstars returned with a reminder to check out WWE.com for coverage of the recently completed Over the Limit PPV. Jerry Lawler and Michael Cole were now present to cover the Raw match.

Yoshi Tatsu vs. Primo Colon

Primo apparently remained in heel mode despite the departure of his cousin Carlito from WWE. On the way to the ring he pretended he was going to slap a kid's hand, then shook his head "No" and walked to the ring.

Late in the match, Primo had control. He went to the second rope for a fist drop, but Yoshi got a foot up to block him on the way down. Yoshi now started to fight back, ducking a clothesline and using kicks to send Primo to the corner. From there he did his bulldog flip move and then tried a pinfall. He waited for Primo to get up then ran at him with double knees to the face for another pinfall attempt. Yoshi went up to the corner, but Primo was on his feet. He charged over and got up to the corner, punched Yoshi, then went for the Superplex. Yoshi shoved him down to the mat, then as Primo got up, Yoshi landed a flying kick from off the top rope to win it.

Winner: Yoshi Tatsu wins via pinfall over Primo Colon.

They took a look at footage of what went down between Michael Cole and Daniel Bryan over the past two weeks. Most recently, Cole called out Bryan in the ring on Tuesday's NXT, asking for a public apology or he'd take him to court. Bryan came out and said he wanted to do whatever to make things right. Bryan started shaking Cole's hand then held tight and told him he's sorry he's the worst announcer ever. The two started jawing at each other. Cole told Bryan he was a loser who tapped out. That prompted another attack from Bryan, with security intervening. They escorted Bryan up the ramp, where Miz started talking trash and yelling at him. Bryan punched The Miz down and a brawl ensued on the stage.

They showed a video promo package for John Morrison, one of Raw's newest acquisitions. They had a Raw Rebound to show what happened to set the stage for Fatal 4-Way. Bret Hart was named new GM for Raw. Batista quit in the opening segment, after Randy Orton was awarded a spot in the Fatal 4-Way WWE Title match by forfeit (due to Batista's injury).

Also qualifying for spots were Sheamus (over Mark Henry) and Edge who defeated Chris Jericho and Cena in a Triple Threat match. The show closed with Cena in the ring looking out at Sheamus, Edge and Orton who were all on the ramp. It'll be those four in the Fatal 4-Way match at the PPV.

Evan Bourne was introduced for tonight's WWE Superstars main event, before they took a commercial break.

Evan Bourne vs. Zack Ryder

Ryder managed to knock Bourne into the corner seated. Ryder measured him up, then ran and kicked him in the head, sending Bourne slumping out of the ring. Superstars took its final commercial break of the show.

Superstars returned with Bourne looking flustered as Ryder kept a headlock clenched on him. Bourne managed to counter and turn it into a pinfall. Ryder escaped it and picked up Bourne on his shoulders then dropped him against the top rope. Ryder maintained control, with Bourne down, using mocking gestures and kicking him around. Ryder sat Borune up then dropkicked him in the back. Another headlock followed.

Bourne fought back to take control. Ryder went for a move from the second ropes, but Bourne was quick and jumped up to kick Ryder as he came at him. Bourne got to his feet. Ryder went on the attack, but Bourne kicked him multiple times to knock him down. As Ryder got up, Bourne dropkicked him into the corner, then did a running double knees to the face on him. He dragged Ryder out a ways from the corner. Bourne climbed up but as he jumped, Ryder ducked under him. Ryder was able to hit the Rough Ryder. Bourne managed to counter Ryder's finisher attempt, with a knee to the face. He set up for Air Bourne, but Ryder rolled out of the way. From there, Ryder set up Zack Attack and finished off Bourne.

Winner: Zack Ryder wins by pinfall over Evan Bourne.
