WWE Superstars Recap 05.13.10

WWE Superstars recap 05.13.10

Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler of Raw were on hand to open Superstars. The first match of the night, a WWE Divas tag team matchup.

The Bella Twins vs. Jillian & Maryse

Late in the match, the legal Bella twin bumped into Maryse and she fell outside the ring through the ropes. The Bella crawled over and made the tag just as Maryse had got into the ring again. The new Bella gained momentum as she took Maryse down multiple times including a bulldog for a near fall. Jillian rushed in to pull her off the pin. All four divas were in the ring at once, but Jillian and one of the Bellas became knocked down. Maryse grabbed the legal Bella twin and hit her with the French Kiss DDT.

After the win, Jillian grabbed the other Bella Twin and held her for Maryse to scream at. Suddenly, Eve Torres came rushing down the ramp to get in the ring. Maryse pushed Jillian at Eve then exited the ring. Eve hit a neckbreaker on Jillian then began yelling at Maryse who was smirking on the ramp.

Winners: Maryse & Jillian win via pinfall over The Bella Twins.

Ryan Mitchell vs. Vladimir Kozlov

Mitchell was announced as an amateur wrestler from Pittsburgh, PA. He'd get to face the Moscow Mauler, Vlad Kozlov. Mitchell tried for some early kicks on Kozlov, but was booted down by Vlad, then choked in the corner by a boot. He grabbed Mithcell by both arms and headbutted his chest. Finally, he'd had enough and did the one arm slam move to finish off Mitchell in quick fashion.

Winner: Vladimir Kozlov wins via pinfall over Ryan Mitchell.

They reviewed this past Tuesday's rookie eliminations on WWE NXT. Michael Tarver and Daniel Bryan were dismissed for commenting last week that they should be the first elimination. At the end of the show, a new Pros Poll revealed Skip Sheffield in last place, so he too was eliminated. Sheffield said he'll be back.

WWE Superstars returned with a promo video of Ted Dibiase, showcasing his singles career and his trust fund. Recently, Dibiase was seen giving a "payout" to the Colons after they attacked R-Truth in the ring.

Matt Striker and Todd Grisham of Smackdown were now on commentary. They reviewed the events of this past Friday involving Matt Hardy and Drew McIntyre. McIntyre was suspended, stripped of the IC title and then fired by Teddy Long for repeatedly attacking Hardy outside the ring, after he had been warned to back off. Christian and Kofi Kingston will compete on Friday's Smackdown for the vacant title.

Next up, Striker and Grisham discussed the upcoming Over the Limit PPV matches including Cena vs Batista in the I Quit Match and Jack Swagger defending the World Title against Big Show.

Superstars returned with behind-the-scenes still images and interview pieces from various superstars about a recent tour of Mexico. John Cena, Beth Phoenix and MVP were among those who gave their thoughts about the trip.

Matthew Busch & James White vs. Curt Hawkins & Vance Archer

Another bunch of amateur wrestlers on tonight's show. This time the pair was on hand to face two guys the WWE Universe hasn't seen on TV in a while.

At one point, Archer tossed one of the men across the ring then threw the tag partner in. He picked the wrestler up, then walked over for Hawkins to tag in. Archer went back to center ring and did his inverted DDT finisher, then Hawkins did a flying elbow drop from off the corner to take the pinfall.

After the match, Archer and Hawkins got a mic to talk to the crowd. Archer only yelled "pay attention" then handed the mic over. Hawkins said people couldn't forget him, he's a former tag champion and a future main eventer. Hawkins said they've been given 30-day contracts with one objective - to make an impact.

Winners: Curt Hawkins and Vance Archer defeat Matthew Busch and James White by pinfall.

Highlights were shown from Raw several weeks back when The Miz and Big Show lost the unified tag titles to Hart Dynasty. Afterwords, Big Show delivered a big punch to level Miz. He was soon drafted to Smackdown where he punched out Edge and Jericho backstage. Later on, he was introduced as the new #1 Contender for the World Title. He went out to the ring to introduce himself to Swagger, by punching him in the chin to leave him flat on the mat.

Chris Masters vs. Dolph Ziggler

Masters had taken control to knock Ziggler out of the ring. Masters started onto the apron for a move, but Ziggler jumped up onto the apron and did a huge jumping kick to knock Masters off to the floor. Ziggler fell as well but got back into the ring. Masters just barely beat the 10 count.

Ziggler regained control in the ring and was able to ground Masters with an armlock for a short time. Masters stood up though and picked up Ziggler. Ziggler escaped and then landed a dropkick for the near fall. Ziggler went for the Zig Zag but Masters grabbed his legs then catapulted Ziggler into the corner turnbuckle chin first. Masters was in control and hit a huge backbreaker for a near fall, with Ziggler getting a foot on the bottom rope.

In the closing moments, Masters backed up and signaled for Masterlock. Ziggler got up near the ropes, then turned to see Masters and dropped to the mat. Masters went after Ziggler who was on the apron. Ziggler dropped down to yank Masters throat first against the top rope. Ziggler came back in and tried for the sleeper hold, but Masters powered out. Masters went for the Masterlock, but Ziggler pulled him forward and ran towards the corner, causing Masters to hit the corner. From there, Ziggler ran over and hit the Zig Zag for the win.

Winner: Dolph Ziggler wins via pingall over Chris Masters.
