NXT Results 03/16/11

WWE NXT Results from Kansas City, MO:

Early on, all of the pros and rookies came out to their introductions. Maryse and Striker were hosts again. A new development was revealed that the winner of NXT Season 5 gets to choose any pro they want as their mentor for NXT Season 6. However, it's unknown right now if that means from the current pros on Season 5, or the entire WWE roster.

The first challenge of the night was "Talk the Talk." It came down to Titus O'Neil and Darren Young when the crowd was polled over who was best of the bunch with the crowd. Ultimately, they named Titus O'Neil the winner of the challenge and two Redemption points.

After the Raw Rebound showed Cena vs Del Rio, it also showed Miz going psycho and attacking Cena post-match.

Backstage, Yoshi went up to Maryse who was on her cell phone. Yoshi complimented Maryse for her hosting, saying she's done a better job than Striker. Lucky Cannon came into the scene and apologized to Maryse for not being professional last week. Maryse said he's a jerk, but it's okay. She walked off and Yoshi waved goodbye. Lucky told Yoshi he sees what he's up to, but he won't get Maryse, because he's not "Lucky."

Darren Young vs. Conor O'Brian

Late in the match, O'Brian and Young traded offense. However, Young was the more seasoned of the two rookies. He hit a fallaway gutbuster on O'Brian to finish him off and grabbed the pinfall win.

Winner: Darren Young wins via pinfall over Conor O'Brian.

They showed a promo video on Jacob Novak. Novak said he put all his faith in Dolph Ziggler last season but lost. He said he thinks Dolph felt threatened by him, then said he will win this season of NXT.

Yoshi Tatsu & Byron Saxton vs. Lucky Cannon & Tyson Kidd

Saxton made a hot tag into the match late. He started to take care of the heels, but eventually lost control of things. Kidd was the legal man, but Cannon made a tag in to Kidd's dismay. Cannon scored his finisher on Saxton, a front slam move. Cannon grabbed the pinfall win, but Kidd chastised him after for taking over. He told Cannon to get on the same page.

Winners: Lucky Cannon & Tyson Kidd win via pinfall over Yoshu Tatsu & Byron Saxton.

The final segment of the night was the "Keg Carry" for 2 Redemption Points. The hosts joked about Titus O'Neil tripping the last time he was in this contest, and they showed it multiple times via video.

Lucky Cannon decided to recite a poem to Maryse instead of competing in the challenge. Maryse ended up slapping him and Lucky said he was in love after being treated that way. Meanwhile, Titus O'Neil won his second contest of the night, scoring 2 more Redemption points. Titus O'Neil now has 4 Redemption points, Darren Young has 3.

NXT ended with Hornswoggle and Titus O'Neil celebrating with the fans at ringside.
