WWE Superstars Results 04/07/11

WWE Superstars Results 04/07/11:

Jack Korpela was on hand from the Smackdown commentary crew to introduce the show, just days after the dust settled from Wrestlemania 27. He said the dream match for Wrestlemania 28 has been set too. Smackdown star, Drew McIntyre, arrived out for the opening match.

JTG vs. Drew McIntyre

JTG got a huge DDT for a pinfall late in the match, but Drew got a leg on the bottom rope to break it. JTG rushed at him and elbowed Drew in the corner, then went for the Mugshot, but Drew shoved him off from the corner. Drew ran at JTG with a huge boot to drop him, then picked him up for the FutureShock DDT to win it.

Winner: Drew McIntyre wins via pinfall over JTG.

They showed a highlights video from the 2011 WWE Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. Hacksaw Jim Duggan, Abdullah the Butcher, Sunny, Drew Carey and Shawn Michaels were among those shown. Triple H introduced Shawn Michaels for the final induction of the night.

Korpela said later tonight they'll show footage of when Cena called out The Rock on Raw.

They showed a quick promo ad for Wrestlemania 28 on April 1, 2012.

Yoshi Tatsu vs. Tyson Kidd

Kidd was in control of the match following a commercial break, but Yoshi stood up when he was in a side headlock. Matthews and Stanford talked about Snooki and how the media picked up on her Wrestlemania 27 win. Kidd and Yoshi collided when Kidd came from against the ropes into a spinning heel kick. Both guys were on the mat for a bit, then Yoshi stood up to start chopping away. Yoshi went for a high risk move on the top rope, but Kidd shoved him and crotched Yoshi. From there, Kidd went up top for a Super Frankensteiner off the top. Kidd had the near fall with Yoshi kicking out.

Kidd went for a Sharpshooter, but Yoshi blocked and kicked Kidd away. Kidd tried for a Springboard move but Yoshi avoided it, then did his roundhouse kick to Kidd's head for the win.

Winner: Yoshi Tatsu wins via pinfall over Tyson Kidd.

As Superstars returned, Matthews and Stanford discussed Undertaker going to 19-0 at Wrestlemania 27. They showed a shot of the Georgia Dome, then rolled footage of Cena on Raw this past week. John Cena's calling out of The Rock was shown from Monday Night Raw. Cena talked about a "certain someone" getting involved in the main event of Wrestlemania 27, which was his business. Cena said that means they have some business to settle right now. Cena stood back and waited, then The Rock's theme music hit. The Rock came walking to the ring, wasting no time in getting into the ring to pose from the corner.

The Rock talked about how he knows John Cena lives and breathes WWE, but that doesn't change the fact that Rock doesn't like him. Rock said they are complete opposites except for the fact that whatever they do, they want to do it the best and better than anyone else, period. Cena and Rock exchanged a couple jokes, before Cena told Rock he needs to listen to "the people." Cena said everyone wants a match between them, not a talk. Cena said everyone wants "John Cena versus The Rock" to happen. Cena threw off his hat and shirt, asking if Rock wants to talk or bring it.

The Rock proposed they make history with a match at Wrestlemania 28 in Miami for 2012 and Cena shook his hand on it. They locked eyes for a bit as they kept their hands clasped. The Rock's theme music started playing as they continued the stare down, but were suddenly interrupted when The Corre arrived down to surround the ring. They attacked Cena and The Rock in the ring, but both men fought back.

Cena hit a Five Knuckle Shuffle on Heath Slater, then Rock hit People's Elbow on Wade Barrett. Cena hit Attitude Adjustment on Slater and then Rock hit the Rock Bottom on Barrett. They stared at each other with Booker saying it looked like Cena and Rock were trying to see who could outdo the other. Rock pointed at Cena and they shook on it again. Michael Cole said tonight was a draw between these two icons.

Santino Marella arrived out for the main event match on WWE Superstars.

Santino Marella vs. Ted Dibiase

Scott Stanford said the 2011 Extreme Rules Pay-Per-View will be presented by Paper Jamz. Ted Dibiase arrived out to the ring, with Stanford noting that Maryse is nowhere to be seen. During this match, Santino tried to offer a handshake for a few of the moves, but Dibiase wouldn't oblige. At one point, he slapped Santino down and kicked him out of the ring before a commercial.

Superstars returned with Dibiase locking the side headlock on Santino. Santino stood up and threw his weight forward to throw Dibiase over him. However, Ted came right back with a big dropkick for the near fall. Standford asked where Tamina was and if Santino's having relationship problems. Matthews suggested Stanford become friends with these guys and find out, because he doesn't know all the gossip.

Late in this one, Santino gained momentum with several moves, including his hip toss. However, when Santino went for the diving fist punch, Dibiase got a leg up to block it. Dibiase went for Dream Street, but Santino backed him into the corner, then tossed him down to the mat. Santino set up The Cobra and struck Dibiase in the face for the pinfall win.
.
The show closed out with Santino celebrating in the ring, then leading everyone with the trumpet

Winner: Santino Marella wins via pinfall over Ted Dibiase.
