Raw Results from Des Moines, IA:
Chris Jericho’s Highly Reel kicked things off, but before he could introduce his guest, Triple H’s music hit. He arrived out with Randy Orton, Kane and Seth Rollins all in suits. Triple H and Jericho traded in-ring jabs about one another, then HHH suggested that maybe Cena shouldn’t be the #1 contender getting a title shot against Brock Lesnar at Night of Champions. John Cena came out and was irate at what he heard, threatening to sue HHH and take his job over to fire him if he is denied his rematch. Orton, Kane and Rollins also made cases for being #1 contenders. Orton made a vow he’d drop Reigns if he was there right now after Jericho brought up Reigns beating Orton at Summerslam. That brought Reigns out to call out Orton. Eventually, HHH said these six guys will battle in a six man tag match tonight and he’ll see who impresses him enough to earn a title shot.
The Miz and Cesaro defeated Dolph Ziggler and Sheamus via pinfall. Damien Sandow was ringside for The Miz. At one point, Dolph was ready to go for a Fameasser, but Miz got out of the ring. Sandow entered the ring and yelled “Action!” which distracted Dolph. Miz grabbed Dolph and hit Skullcrushing Finale for the win.
They showed footage from last week’s Raw where Nikki trashed her sister Brie Bella in the ring.
Naomi, Summer Rae & Layla vs. Eva Marie, Cameron and Rosa Mendes was a no contest. All six divas started fighting at one point in the ring causing the match to get tossed out by the ref. The baby face divas team ended up clearing the ring of the heels post-match.
They showed highlights from last week where Reigns tossed a cinder block at Seth Rollins but it missed. The announcers reminded fans of tonight’s six man tag match to help determine the #1 contender to face Brock Lesnar at Night of Champions.
Big Show & Mark Henry defeated Luke Harper & Erick Rowan due to disqualification. During the match, Lana and Rusev showed up and stood in the aisle to watch the match. Henry gained control late and set up for his finisher, but Rusev got into the ring and delivered a kick to cause the DQ. Show grabbed a steel chair to chase off the Wyatts with and then assisted Henry.
They had a segment with Nikki talking about how she and Brie both took their driver’s tests at age 16 but only she (Nikki) passed. She talked about driving them around all the time and having fun, until Brie stole the car and her driver’s license and got into an accident. Nikki said she never told anyone about it though.
They talked up how former NFL drafted rookie Michael Sam was cut from NFL but has been invited to speak on Raw next week as an open forum if he wants it. Sam was the first openly gay NFL player and the announcers talked about him deserving to be on a roster or practice squad.
Paul Heyman came out to cut a promo about Cena being desperate to hold onto the image his fans have of him. He said he’ll be great in tonight’s main event, but you could stack the locker room together and multiply it by infinity but it still wouldn’t equal half the brutality of Brock Lesnar when he beats down Cena at Night of Champions.
Jack Swagger defeated Curtis Axel via submission. During the match, Bo Dallas came out with a mic in hand with two men and a women sitting in chairs set up on stage behind him. In the match, Swagger got control and went for a Swagger Bomb, but Axel put a foot up. Swagger caught himself and stopped, then put on the Patriot Lock to get the win. Post-match, Bo Dallas introduced the different fans he had with him who either lost major bets, were deported or decided to become Vladimir Putin supporters because of Swagger’s losses to Rusev. Dallas had all three fans stand up behind him, put their hands over their hearts and say “All you have to do is Bolieve.”
Adam Rose defeated Titus O’Neil via pinfall. Slater was ringside for Titus. The Rosebuds danced to the ring with Rose. The bunny hopped over towards Heath Slater who punched him. The bunny got back up and threw punches towards Slater. Titus was distracted, so Rose got an easy rollup pinfall win.
Rusev defeated Zack Ryder via submission. Rusev locked in The Accolade in about 50 seconds to make Ryder tap out. As Lana and Rusev were posing in front of the Russian flag in the ring, Mark Henry’s music hit and he came to the ring. Rusev exited as Henry got in. Henry got the mic and said he’s afraid of the strongest man in the strongest country. Henry said he’s opened a new international wing for the Hall of Pain and Rusev can be the first entrant.
They had a backstage segment with Stephanie and HHH. Steph said she’s got a big announcement to make and can’t wait to see Nikki’s face when she makes it.
After commercial, Steph had Nikki Bella in the ring. Nikki thanked her for the opportunity to get all the things off her chest that Brie did to her behind her back. Steph said she appreciates how hard Nikki’s had to work to get out of Brie’s shadow, so she is giving her a deserved WWE Divas championship match. That brought out Brie to intervene telling Steph this doesn’t involve her now. Brie talked about Nikki tearing up their family and questioned what it was even for. Nikki said it was for herself, and then made fun of Brie’s goat-faced husband. AJ Lee’s music hit and she skipped to the ring. She told Stephanie she is #1 contender for the title so Steph should let the Bella Twins work out their own issues on their own time, and leave the divas title fight to her. Steph thanked Lee for her input.
Paige’s music hit and she also skipped to the ring. She said this discussion needs to involve the Divas champion. Eventually, Nikki and Brie got into it with Brie shoving Nikki down, which caused Nikki to crash down with Paige. Brie left the ring. AJ grabbed the divas championship from the mat and skipped around the ring with it as her music went on. Steph eventually got in her way and ordered her to hand over the belt “Now!” Lee smiled and handed it over as the two stared at each other before Lee left the ring.
Goldust defeated Jimmy Uso via pinfall. The match lasted just over two minutes. Goldust tried to get on the mic to apologize pre-match, but The Usos attacked he and Stardust. They fought them off and then the match started. Stardust kicked Jey’s knee at ringside. Jimmy dove out onto him on the floor, but then as he got into the ring was kicked in the head. Goldust hit the Final Cut for the win. Post-match, the Dust Brothers worked on Jey’s knee and slammed a chair on the bad knee.
They had a backstage conversation involving Big Show with Mark Henry. Show told Henry not to forget what he said about them being the most dominant team in WWE. Henry said has to take care of Rusev first. Show said he’d be in his corner, but Henry said he has to do it himself. Show seemed bothered by that but told Henry to get him and put him in the Hall of Pain.
John Cena, Roman Reigns & Chris Jericho defeated Randy Orton, Seth Rollins & Kane via pinfall. Cena got a hot tag from Jericho about 20 minutes into the main event. He was able to get the upper hand on Kane and hit the Attitude Adjustment after doing a “You Can’t See Me” motion towards Triple H and Steph watching at ringside. Cena yelled “Is that enough?” at HHH/Steph before he tagged in Reigns who hit a Spear on Kane for the pinfall win. Post-match, Cena went to ringside and talked some trash at HHH before he grabbed Rollins and hit the AA with Rollins onto the announcers table. He said “I will see Brock Lesnar at Night of Champions” to HHH before returning to the ring as his music played on to close Raw.
