Smackdown Recap 08.24.07

Recap of Smackdown from Univ. of South Carolina:

Smackdown showed highlights from last week's Kane vs. Khali Wrestlemania rematch. Khali threw the vice claw grip on Kane's head forcing him down the mat for a pin. After Khali's win, Finlay came to the ring to attack Kane with the shalalee. Batista ran into the ring to spear Finlay. With his back turned to Khali, Batista went to Batista Bomb Finlay. Khali clutched Batista's skull from behind and put Batista down to the mat, leaving both Kane and Batista layed out.

Michael Cole announced that Batista will face Finlay tonight, just 2 days prior to Summerslam. Just then, Vince McMahon came to the ring with Coach to address the crowd. Coach said that more possibilities of who could be VInce's child have been discovered. Coach said daily they are getting closer to discovering who Vince's child is, and then listed off some traits Vince has. Coach was saying Vince is tall, white and makes peoples lives a living hell. Just then, an explosion erupted near the ramp, as Kane came out and walked down to the ring. Kane grabbed a mic from Coach and yelled at Vince for not being around when he was younger. Kane said Vince wasn't around when he lit his first fire or killed his first squirrel. Kane said he doesn't want money or gifts, he just wants one thing, Finlay. Vince set up Kane vs Finlay as a match for Summerslam. Vince started talking about how Kane is not his son.

Just then Chris Masters came down to the ring interrupting. Masters said he has proof that Kane is not Vince's child, and that he is. Masters brought a photo with him to the ring which showed him as a 15 year old kid posing next to Vince at an event. Masters then said he would take down Kane with the Masterlock challenge right now. Vince ordered a chair and a ref for the match. Kane sat in the chair and Masters went to slap the hold on him. Masters couldn't get the hold and Kane stood up. Kane told Masters to sit in the chair instead for the challenge. Masters refused to do so, and Kane grabbed him, chokeslamming Masters down on the mat. Kane left walking up the ramp as Vince started ripping up Masters' photo and dropped the pieces on him.

Just then, Chuck Palumbo came riding out to the ramp on his motorcycle. Palumbo got in the ring and took off his shirt. Vince ordered a match to start since there were 2 wrestlers and a ref in there.

Chuck Palumbo vs. Chris Masters

Palumbo immediately started attacking Masters, knocking him around the ring. Eventually Masters used the ropes to drag Palumbo down by his neck. Masters took control slamming Palumbo down a few times. Palumbo able to recover off the ropes, clotheslining Masters down hard, then suplexing him from the corner. Palumbo delivered a solid boot to Masters' face off the ropes, then did his finisher. Palumbo with the pinfall victory.

Winner: Chuck Palumbo wins via pinfall over Chris Masters/

Michael Cole announced there would be a divas bikini contest tonight featuring Kristal, Victoria, Torrie and Michelle McCool.

Replay shown of Chavo beating down Shannon Moore last week to set an example for Rey Mysterio.

Funaki vs. Chavo Guerrero

Chavo came walking out to the ramp with a Mysterio mask on a mannequin head. Chavo immediately started attacking Funaki, slamming him down to the mat several times and punching him around. Funaki started to fight back punching Chavo to the ropes, then doing a head scissors off them. Funaki climbes to the ropes to jump off at Chavo. Chavo got up and ran over, knocking Funaki down. Chavo then started to kick at Funaki down on the mat. as the crowd started chanting 6-1-9. Chavo began to attack Funaki's knee by slamming it against the ringpost. The ref finally called for the bell since Chavo didn't heed his warnings to stop the attack. Chavo continued to attack Funaki, dragging him outside the ring and putting the Mysterio mask on him. Chavo removed the top part of the steel steps and placed Funaki's knee on the remaining steps. Chavo then grabbed a steel chair and smashed it down on Funaki's knee. Funaki writhed in pain clutching his knee as refs intervened to get Chavo away.

Winner: Funaki wins due to disqualificaiton of Chavo Guerrero.

Replay showed of Hornswaggle winning the Cruiserweight title at Great American Bash.

Jimmy Wang Yang vs. Jamie Noble

Winner of this match would become #1 contender for Cruiserweight title. Noble came down to the ring checking under the apron of several sides of the ring, looking for Hornswaggle. Noble flipped Yang to the mat early then came off the ropes at him, but Yang elbowed him down. Noble recovered after a pin attempt by Yang, dropping him to the mat. Yang then put his legs around Yang's midsection down on the mat to wear him down. Yang finally escaped and tried to mount an attack, but Noble was able to elbow him in the corner. Noble climbed the ropes, but Yang got up with him and flipped him down with a head scissors. Noble had a near pinfall, then fought with Noble a bit more. Yang missed a moonsault off the top turnbuckle, the Noble capitalized using his finisher to slam Yang down into his knees. Noble signaled to the crowd he would be wearing the title soon.

After Noble celebrated in the ring, he went outside and started checking under the ring covers. Noble went under the ring near the announcer's table. Noble crawled out from under the opposite side of the ring, angry he couldn't find the leprechaun. As Noble walked up the ramp with his back to the ring, Hornswaggle stuck his head out from under the apron cover and began to laugh. The leprechaun ducked back under as Noble turned around.

Winner: Jamie Noble wins via pinfall over Jimmy Wang Yang, becoming #1 contender for the Cruiserweight title.

Highlights shown from Saturday Night's Main Event boxing match between Matt Hardy and Evander Holyfield. Holyfield got the best of Hardy and started to back off because he didn't want to hurt Hardy. After MVP yelled at Holyfield and put his hand on him, Holyfield had had enough and delivered a knockout punch to MVP. Michael Cole said there will be a 1 on 1 basketball contest tonight between Hardy and MVP.

Teddy Long was backstage as Kristal was behind a dressing screen preparing for the bikini contest. Kristal came out in a robe and left the office, as MVP came in. MVP told Teddy he will be the World Heavyweight champion one day and he doesn't care who he beats for it. Long asked if that means MVP can beat anyone for any title even the tag titles. MVP said he would prove it and face the tag team champs with the next person to walk into the room as his partner. Just then Matt Hardy came walking in. Long said they would be partners next week on Smackdown to face Deuce & Domino. As the 2 men complained about it, Long told them to go get warmed up for their basketball contest.

Chuck Palumbo shown backstage polishing his motorcycle. Vince came walking up with Coach telling Chuck how he likes motorcycles too. Palumbo said his mom said his dad used to like motorcycles, but he also was into Jack Daniels. Palumbo said one day his dad was hit by an 18 wheeler. Chuck then said his mom was driving. Vince and Coach looked at Palumbo strangely then walked off.

Shannon Moore & Eugene vs Deuce & Domino

Eugene offered his hand to Deuce at the start of the match. Deuce shook Eugene's hand and held it, then clotheslined Eugene down hard. Eugene was able to get near his partner, and Moore made a tag on Eugene's back. Moore used his quickness and aerial moves off the ropes, until he got on the turnbuckle. Domino came over on the apron, but Moore knocked him off. Moore tried to get back up on the ropes, but Deuce slammed him down. Deuce continued to battle Moore in the ring after a tag, but Moore was able to escape and tag in Eugene.

Eugene began to run around the ring knocking down Deuce several times. Domino and Moore got into the mix, with Moore knocking Domino out of the ring. Eugene motioned for Moore to run and jump over the ropes onto Domino who was outside the ring. Moore ran off the ropes and then Eugene assisted by flipping Moore over the ropes. Moore crashed down on Domino in a heap. As Eugene was clapping about it, he turned to get a huge boot in the face from Deuce. Deuce captured the pinfall win.

Deuce and Domino win via pinfall over Shannon Moore and Eugene.

Matt Hardy vs. MVP (Basketball Contest)

A bball hoop was set up near the crowd. The announcer said the game would be played with each shot worth 1 point and winner would be first to score 11 points. MVP came out with a headset mic on. MVP grabbed a basketball and began to showboat saying he would show the crowd various moves he did against NBA players. MVP missed his first layup attempt, but then showed the crowd a dunk move and a shot he told them was called the "Game winner". As MVP continued to mess around, Matt Hardy's music came on and Matt came out to the half court setup.

MVP told Matt to take the ball first and started to talk trash on the mic. Matt bounced the ball off MVP's head hard, causing him to fall to the court. Matt took advantage, dribbling past him and making the first layup. Just then, Deuce and Domino came out to the scene with Cherry. The tag champs began to beat up both Matt Hardy and MVP. Deuce and Domino delivered their finishing boot kick to both MVP and Matt's head, leaving them both layed out.

Winner: No winner due to Deuce and Domino's interference.

Brad Allen vs. Mark Henry

Henry immediately clotheslined Allen down to the mat then started to kick him. Henry left the ring and pulled Allen's body into the steel ring post. Henry then re-entered the ring and slammed Allen down hard. Henry slapped Allen on the back of the head yelling at him to get up. Allen stood up and Henry wrapped him up in a bear hug. The ref called for the bell soon after and Henry threw the man to the mat.

After winning, Mark Henry took a mic and began asking what was going on with the druids coming out and the sand. Henry said he doesn't get intimidated, he intimidates. Henry began boasting about being the Silverback Mark Henry. Just then the lights went out in the arena, and the Undertaker's bell rang. Video footage came on the Titantron with a child whispering "Did you hear the one about the man who can't be destroyed?". The footage cut to the desert with druids opening a box full of snakes. Henry was enraged in the ring as the footage stopped, then exited and walked up the ramp.

Winner: Mark Henry wins via submission over Brad Allen.

Replay shown of this past week's Raw where Vince told Orton he hopes his son is like him, and not like Cena who has no dignity. Cena came down to the ring, and Vince said in all likelihood he "did Cena's mom". Just then Cena punched Vince McMahon in the face, causing Vince to announce Cena would face Snitsky. In the match, as Cena was about to "F U" Snitsky, Randy Orton ran down to interfere and RKO'd Cena to the mat. Cena layed out on the mat holding his head as Orton grabbed his WWE title to look at.

Michael Cole was in ring and began to hype up Summerslam this weekend. Cole said we recently learned of the Divas battle royal for Summerslam, where the winner will get a shot at Candice Michelle's title. Cole then introduced the 4 Smackdown divas to compete in tonight's bikini contest.

Diva Bikini Contest

Torrie, Kristal, Victoria and Michelle came walking out in robes or a football jersey as cover ups for their bikinis. Kristal went first revealing a pink and white striped bikini to the crowd. Michelle went next wearing a natural green colored bikini, Victoria went 3rd revealing a one piece black bikini and trying to do dance moves. Torrie Wilson went last wearing a sparkling pink/red bikini and got the biggest crowd reaction. Cole then said there was 1 more special participant for the contest, South Carolina's own, Mae Young. Mae came to the ring wearing a flowery robe. Victoria shook her head as Mae came int othe ring. Mae revealed a 1 piece blue bathing suit and began to dance. Cole then said the winner was Mae Young. Mae started to take off her swimsuit straps and Michelle, Torrie and Kristal ran over to keep her covered up.

Winner: Mae Young wins the Diva bikini contest.

Jesse and Festus promo shown. Jesse talking about how Summerslam is the biggest party of the summer and about how barbeques are so great. Jesse then said Festus has the face of "an Iron chef".

Cole and JBL ran down the complete list of Summerslam matches 1 by 1 before Batista came out for the next match.

Highlights shown again of Khali squeezing Batista's head between his 2 hands, forcing Batista to fall to the mat.

Finlay vs. Batista

Batista and Finlay grappled to start the match, with Batista shoving Finlay down to the mat. Batista able to take down Finlay again. Finlay grappled with Batista near the ropes where the ref forced them apart. Batista got Finlay back to the ropes where he punched at him twice, then threw him across the ring to the ropes to knock him down. Batista tried to toss Finlay to the ropes again and then ducked to flip Finlay. FInlay caught Batista with a kick to the head and then clotheslined him down. Finlay knocked Batista out of the ring, then tried to jump off the apron at him. Batista caught him and rammed him against the side of the ring. Finlay able to escape and ended up ramming Batista into the ringpost. As the two men finally got back into the ring, Khali came walking down the ramp with his manager Singh. Smackdown went to commercial break.

When Smackdown returned, Finlay had Batista down on the mat in a headlock. Khali and Singh were looking on from the ramp. Batista stood up and began to punch his way out of Finlay's hold. Finlay was able to trip Batista back down and reapply the headlock. Khali moved to the side of the ring to watch. Batista finally got to his feet again and was able to drop Finlay down. Despite this, Finlay recovered and came off the ropes to knock Batista back down for more punishment.

Finlay continued to dominate with Batista down and Khali watching. Batista escaped Finlay's attack and was able to seat Finlay on the top rope. Batista then pushed Finlay off causing him to fall onto the apron and out of the ring. Batista left the ring and ripped the cover off the commentators' table. Khali began to walk over, and Batista grabbed a steel chair then smacked it across the ring post. Khali put up his hand and backed away. Batista tossed Finlay back into the ring, where the 2 men battled more. Batista finally gained control and set up the Batista Bomb. Just then, Khali got onto the side apron, causing Batista to push Finlay down. Batista ran up to Khali and began to hammer away at him. Finlay tried to attack from behind but Batista headed him off and dropped him to the mat.

Khali delivered a solid chop to Batista's head knocking him down. Khali then got into the ring and went to squeeze his hands around Batista's head again. Batista grabbed Khali's hands preventing him from doing so. Batista held off Khali's hands then kicked him in the groin. Batista was able to run off the ropes and spear Khali down, then got on top of him to start punching at his head. Khali rolled out of the ring, as did Batista who got on him for more punches. A bunch of WWE officials and refs ran down to break things up and hold Batista away. Khali got up, staggering up the rimp with a bloody forehead. Batista held his head as an angry Batista stared at him from near the ring.

Winner: Batista wins due to disqualification of Finlay, when Great Khali interfered.
