2008 No Mercy Matches

WWE's next Pay-per-view will be No Mercy, arriving on Sunday, October 5th. The card so far includes at least four title matches, and more matches may be added as the event draws near. Check back at this page for the fully updated card. Here's a look at the full card for No Mercy 2008.

Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Jericho
World Championship
Ladder Match
These two superstars have been involved in a longstanding feud ever since Michaels retired Ric Flair at Wrestlemania 24. They've since competed in some brutal matches, with HBK winning the last contest, an Unsanctioned Match. HBK beat Jericho to the point he could no longer continue, causing the ref to give HBK the win. However, Jericho came up big later in the night as he went on to win the World Heavyweight title in the Championship Scramble. Now Jericho defends his title in a match HBK suggested and is famous for, The Ladder Match. Who will be the first to climb up and retrieve the title?

Jeff Hardy vs. Triple H
WWE Title match
Hardy has been on the rise in more ways than one throughout his WWE career. He's performed daredevil feats and death-defying leaps, including Swanton Bombs off ladders and scaffolding. However, The Game is one feat that Hardy has been unable to master. Triple H has pointed out that Jeff is always a step away from winning the big one. Will this match prove the same result for Jeff, or will he finally capture that elusive WWE title? Or is the Game too tough to top?

Mark Henry vs. Matt Hardy
ECW Title match
Matt Hardy's crowning achievement may have come at Unforgiven, where he won the ECW Championship Scramble. Hardy defeated Finlay, Chavo Guerrero, The Miz and champion at the time, Mark Henry. Henry continues to boast he is the toughest there is on ECW, and that Matt didn't actually beat him for the title. Now Henry gets his rematch opportunity and a shot to retrieve his ECW title. Is Matt prepared for the challenge, or will Mark Henry use a World's Strongest Slam to reclaim his gold?

JBL vs. Batista
Match for #1 Contender Status
Both The Animal Batista and JBL of the Raw roster claimed they should be the #1 contender for the World Heavyweight title. Chris Jericho suggested that the two men face off at No Mercy, and he would immediately face the winner of that match, putting his title on the line. Raw General Manager Mike Adamle decided that was a good idea, except Jericho would face Shawn Michaels in a title match. The winner of this match goes on to face the World Heavyweight Champ. Will Batista have the momentum at No Mervy and take out JBL? Or will JBL have another Clothesline from Hell ready to take out Batista?

Candice Michelle vs. Beth Phoenix
WWE Women's Title match
Beth Phoenix won the Women's title in one of the most unorthodox ways ever, a mixed tag match. Due to her tag team's victory, she captured gold as did her boytoy Santino Marella. Beth's victory party was shortlived on Raw, because WWE Divas Candice Michelle is back on the scene. Fans will remember the horrible fall Candice took during a match against Beth, causing Candice to suffer a clavicle injury. Is Candice ready to regain her top diva status and take back her title? Or will the Glamazon continue to dominate and prevail over all challengers?

Rey Mysterio vs. Kane
In this Raw grudge match the smaller but quicker Mysterio battles the monster Kane. Kane claimed to have destroyed Rey's soul weeks ago, and was carrying his mask around in a mysterious burlap sack. Mysterio returned at Unforgiven's Championship Scramble for the World Heavyweight title. He managed to divert Batista with a move off the ropes, allowing Chris Jericho to capture a pinfall on Kane. Since then, Kane has proceeded to attack both Rey and his new pal Evan Bourne, destroying both men in the ring. Can Rey Mysterio gain the advantage and overcome this monster? Or will Kane give Mysterio the in-ring burial he's claimed?

Undertaker vs. Big Show
In this Smackdown grudge match, The Undertaker returns to the ring in an attempt to gain revenge on Big Show. Show ambushed Undertaker in the ring at Unforgiven when Undertaker came down to claim Vickie Guerrero's soul. The Smackdown GM then humiliated the beaten down Taker by spitting on him. Since then, Smackdown's new power couple has delighted in watching the highlights, but the Deadman has made his presence felt. Chavo Guerrero was Undertaker's victim on Smackdown, signaling that Undertaker will be coming Big Show and Vickie's way soon. Will Big Show have the power to stop the unstoppable Deadman? Will Undertaker claim the soul of one of his biggest opponents yet?
