ECW Recap 11.25.08

ECW Recap from Providence, RI:

ECW opened with highlights of the Jack Swagger-Tommy Dreamer feud that has gone on for the past several weeks. Last week saw Dreamer face Swagger under his rules in an Amateur wrestling match. Dreamer disqualified himself by kicking Swagger in the gut. Swagger demanded Teddy Long give him another match with Dreamer, and Long obliged but under Dreamer's conditions this time, an Extreme Rules match.

Tommy Dreamer vs. Jack Swagger
Extreme Rules Match

A trashcan, Kendo stick and other weapons were set up at ringside for the match. With Dreamer already in the ring, the cocky Jack Swagger made his way down to the ring next.

The two men started with a stare down, until Swagger shoved Dreamer in the face and the fight was on. Swagger took control of Dreamer early on using amateur wrestling moves to hold him on the mat. Dreamer was near the edge of the ring and grabbed a Kendo stick, then bashed it onto Swagger. Dreamer followed by slamming Swagger onto a steel chair. Swagger left the ring to recover, but Dreamer went after him. Swagger was able to reverse-whip Dreamer into a ringpost, then threw various items into the ring with Dreamer.

Swagger focused his attacks on Dreamer's neck and left leg, using the Kendo stick to smash down on Dreamer's leg as well as the chair to stretch Dreamer's leg back. Dreamer eventually recovered and was able to set up Swagger upside down in the corner, then did a running dropkick into a trash can in front of him. Dreamer went for a table under the ring and slid it under the ropes. After Dreamer set up the table in the ring, Swagger gained control briefly until Dreamer DDT'd him from the corner. A steel chair was set up in one ring corner near Swagger who was down by the ropes. Dreamer rushed at him with a trash can, but Swagger tripped him, causing Dreamer to hit the chair face first. From there, Swagger picked up Dreamer and slammed him through the table, then covered for the victory.

Winner: Jack Swagger wins via pinfall over Tommy Dreamer.

Matt Striker announced that later tonight Finlay will face Mark Henry again.

Backstage, The Miz & John Morrison promoted Survivor Series and how it can be ordered for replay on Pay-Per-View. Morrison and Miz ran through the various stories and matches of Survivor Series, but said the greatest moment of the night was them being a part of the event. All of a sudden the set went dark, and the Boogeyman popped up behind them. Miz and Morrison said "Be jealous" before fleeing the scene. The Boogeyman delivered his "I'm the Boogeyman, and I'm comin to getcha!" line then ate a handful of worms as he laughed.

Matt Hardy was interviewed backstage by Todd Grisham. Todd asked Matt about the recent news of Jeff Hardy being found beat up in his hotel room before Survivor Series. Matt talked about it briefly, before Jack Swagger interrupted. Swagger said now that he's done with Dreamer he's going after Hardy's ECW title next.

A small hand was shown trying to grab candy from a jar on a table. All of a sudden a much larger hand grabbed a fistful of candy, and the camera panned out to show Mark Henry. Henry and Tony Atlas stood on opposite sides of Hornswoggle. Henry told him to pay attention to what he does to his daddy later, because it will be anything but sweet.

Jared Gainam vs. DJ Gabriel

Gabriel and Fox did a dance routine in the ring prior to the match. Matt Striker noted during the match that DJ Gabriel's WWE Universe page had to be reset twice due to all the comments and emails he received. During the match, Gabriel hit a standing dropkick on his opponent before picking him up for a giant spin move, tossing his opponent out of the ring. Gabriel used a European headlock to keep his opponent down, but the wrestler fought back. Gabriel used a suplex and then legsweeps, followed by his finisher from off the corner ropes, a flying European uppercut.

Todd Grisham interviewed WWE Diva Alicia Fox & DJ Gabriel in the ring. Alicia said after the wedding planning fiasco she went overseas and met DJ Gabriel and they just had an amazing connection. Gabriel said they have a passion for fun and winning.

Winner: DJ Gabriel wins over Jared Gainam.

Grisham & Striker presented the Raw Rebound which highlighted Cena's return to Raw last night. Batista, Randy Orton and Chris Jericho had a Triple Threat match to decide the new #1 Contender. Batista had Orton pinned after a Spear, but Jericho stole the win by dropkicking Batista off Orton, then taking the pin. Jericho went to the ring at the end of the night to be a "one man welcoming committee" for Cena. The new World Heavyweight champ made a huge entrance and speech at the end of the show, followed by a beatdown of Chris Jericho in and around the ring.

A replay of DX's ad for WWE Shop was shown with Kelly Kelly modeling a new DX basketball jersey.

Highlights were shown of Ricky Ortiz winning 3 weeks ago on ECW to remain undefeated at 6-0. Matt Striker and Grisham discussed Ortiz being a guest on the new Sci Fi show "CHA$E" right after ECW.

Finlay vs. Mark Henry

In their last encounter, a #1 Contender's match, Finlay won the match following a shilaleigh shot to Henry's head. Finlay went on to face Matt Hardy for the ECW title.

Tonight's match started with Finlay eluding Henry at first, but Henry was able to grab Finlay and drop him on the top rope. Finlay rammed his way back in and tried to run off the ropes, but Henry chest bumped him down. Henry started to dominate, tossing Finlay around and stomping on him. Henry walked over and picked up Finlay's shilaleligh from the corner, then tossed it out of the ring. Henry continued to beat on Finlay, and whipped him to the corner, but ate Finlay's boots when he charged at him. Henry responded again with a huge slam off the ropes, but then missed on a splash attempt.

The fight went to the outside and Henry caught Finlay when he tried to jump off the apron at him. Henry had Finlay in a Bear Hug then rammed him into the ringpost, followed by slamming Finlay down on the ground. Henry continued the onslaught in the ring with a submission hold on Finlay, then beat on his back. Finlay was able to get to his feet, then drop down with Henry applying a headlock. Henry again knocked Finlay to the mat.

As the match wore down, Tony Atlas grabbed Hornswoggle and tossed him into the ring for Mark Henry. Finlay was outside the ring and grabbed another shilaleigh hidden under the ring. Henry picked up Hornswoggle as Tony Atlas distracted the ref. Finlay came at Henry with the shilaleigh, but Henry used Hornswoggle as a shield, so Finlay struck Henry in the leg instead. Henry crashed to the ground and Hornswoggle got to the outside. Finlay was able to hit a dropkick off the ropes on Henry, but as he went for a pin he saw Atlas bullying Hornswoggle near the crowd barrier. Finlay exited the ring and ran over to hit Atlas with the shilaleigh. Henry came out and attacked Finlay. From there, Atlas and Henry tried to kidnap Hornswoggle up the ramp, but Finlay rushed over and hit them both in their legs, stopping their attempt.

Winner: Draw/double countout due to both men leaving the ring. No winner announced.
