Raw Preview 03.09.09
Last week's episode of Monday Night Raw featured the Legend Killer Randy Orton making his anticipated decision of which title he would fight for at Wrestlemania 25. Since Orton was the winner of the 2009 Royal Rumble he had to choose between the World Heavyweight Title held by Edge and the WWE Title held by Triple H. In the ring, Orton was surrounded by his fellow Legacy members Rhodes & Dibiase, his attorneys, doctors and armed security guards. Orton informed the WWE Universe that he would be facing whoever held the World Heavyweight Title, due to the fact that Triple H would be heading to jail and not defending the WWE Title at Wrestlemania. Orton based this on the rampage Hunter went on the previous week, swining a sledgehammer in his direction and breaking mirrors, windows and doors before Legacy made their escape from the arena. Triple H made his way out to the ring to confront Orton about his Wrestlemania 25 decision last week. After infuriating Orton and reminding him of what happened between them in Evolution, Orton changed his mind and now will face HHH at Wrestlemania 25. The stipulation is neither Hunter nor Orton can lay a hand on the other prior to the event. Unfortunately for Triple H, Orton had Rhodes and Dibiase attack Triple H on Smackdown as he faced Umaga. Will HHH find a way to respond to the attack on Raw?
As Wrestlemania 25 approaches, the speculation continues as to who Chris Jericho might wrestle at the event. In previous installments of Raw, Jericho has insulted and beaten up various WWE legends including Roddy Piper, Ricky Steamboat and recently, Superfly Jimmy Snuka. Jericho also had an in-ring confrontation with Ric Flair, which ended with Flair knocking some sense into Jericho before Jericho retreated up the ramp. One opponent who hasn't been mentioned recently is actor Mickey Rourke, who had initially made some red carpet comments that he would face Jericho at Mania. Rourke's publicist promptly pulled his name out of the speculations. A few other legendary wrestlers have been rumored to be facing Jericho such as Hulk Hogan, Stone Cold Steve Austin and Jerry the King Lawler. Will Jericho insult yet another WWE legend on tonight's Raw, or will he finally be shut up by someone?
Raw Superstars CM Punk and Kane are already scheduled to be on the Wrestlemania 25 card in the classic Money in the Bank Ladder Match. Punk was able to qualify with a hard fought win in a Triple Threat match against John Morrison and The Miz. Kane defeated Mike Knox and Rey Mysterio in a Triple Threat to earn his spot. Other superstars who have qualified include Mark Henry, Shelton Benjamin and MVP. With 3 spots remaining will Raw see another qualifying match? Also, Shawn Michaels will have his work cut out for him as he prepares to face The Undertaker at Wrestlemania. Taker's 16-0 undefeated Wrestlemania streak is on the line against The Showstopper. What will Michaels have to say regarding his match now that Undertaker has accepted the challenge? Will Undertaker make his presence felt yet again on Raw?
